Not using the hotfix here, unless its official it doesnt make it to my game.

Also many of you are forgetting that archery is also a warrior talent. You are providing a false picture by including the positive experiences with regards to your rogueish skillset .

I would say there is nothing wrong with archers currently, the guy has been on autofire most of the game with 37% of partydamage ... more than I expected.

Interestingly, I did "501 max damage" earlier in my current game (when I had far less talents and overall base damage), yet since then, I've not been able to beat that amount.
Units must be more heavily armored or something later in the game.

37 damage per shot is pretty awful at level 20. And you're only doing 37 percent of the party damage with two tanks and in your other thread you said you were only using Wynne as a healbot. Seriously that pic is proof positive that a fix is needed and heck just a whole redesign of the talents and weapon altogether.
I agree some tweaks need done. I think everyone does.
I'm getting around 50 damge and 120 Def at lvl 21...
It reminds me alot of the Arcane Archer build of NWN.
You don't do a lot of damage per hit, but with the firing range, you get enough hits in to kill things before they can reach you. And your defense means you rarely get hit.
I'd like to be able to play a powerful Legolas Robin Hood, but BW doesn't seem to like to make their archer classes like that.

BTW, Archers are kind of screwed when it comes to bows; SPOILERS won't allow me to say it in detail, but 2 of the best bows in the game you either can't use, OR you can only get with certain alignment behaviors.

But a lot of that is as you said a product of the AI being helpless. Jagged Alliance 2 AI was smart enough not run up to your face while being shot at constantly and camp you out and that game is like what? 10 years old?
A good DW can do all of that too mostly as well with a bow. Rapid shot actually "goes bad" because it only decrease aim time not draw an arrow time. Once I got a bow with rapid aim I realized there was no difference with having rapid shot on or off anymore. So a DW can just beeline for those rapid aim bows and autoattack wise they are just as set as an archer and have the benefit of lawnmowing things down with DW buffs.
Edit: How is pulling not exploiting? How does it make sense that their buddies see their friend get shot with an arrow and see him run towards the people shooting at him without doing anything? You're exploiting the fact that AI is dumb as a box of rocks.

What do you mean? Do you not fire three times as many arrows in the same period of time (at 50 Dex)?FlatCat wrote...

I'll have to test this out with Leliana.

It's easy to pull without exploiting the AI. Just shoot the guy in the back of the room and everyone will attack. Or do you also think it's cheating to make them come to you? If you just rush into every room and let yourself get surrounded and outnumbered, then that makes you as dumb as the AI you're making fun of.

Well, the most obvious thing is that all the crystals lose their armor/weapon properties. They don't have attack/damage/armor values anymore. That's what I noticed.marshalleck wrote...

I asked about it on the boards, and someone else (a few someones, actually) pointed out that Shale's base stats also gets screwed up due to Shale's initial stats generating with equipment. So uninstalling it after you have Shale will fix the crystals, but won't fix the base armor/attack/damage values.

My Shale's crystals have stats, but now that I think about it, I'll have to look at them specifically. It might explain why I've never thought Shale is as awesome a tank as everyone else seems to think.

It doesn't have the basic "10.50 armor" type stats.
It'd be like Dalish Armor where you only get +1 Dex, but no "1.5 armor, 1% fatigue" or whatever.

It's weird, because I AoE entire rooms with just my mage and Morrigan. So Leliana caught up with purely auto-attack and Death Hex with Rapid Shot on. The only other skill I use with her is Scatter Shot.
At 20, she was hitting for 57-60 with Rapid Fire. I don't know if that's good or not. It was enough to get me through Hard difficulty with no prior experience, so it's an option if you want to be an archer!
