I'm currently in the fade in my second playthrough (with a mage). I've cleared all the islands and freed all companions, but when I go to fight the sloth demon I have to fight alone.. I'm sure I had my companions with me for the fight in my first playthrough, but now I just can't find them anywhere.
I have no real problem fighting the demon until his last form when he crushing prison me and all i can do is wait and look how I'm getting killed, so some companions would be nice to have.

So, where do I find my companions?

(I've searched the forum but couldn't find an answer to this)

Um, you sure you freed them?

Sounds like you did unlock the nightmare islands, but didn't actually go there and talk them out of it.

I went to the nightmare islands and defeated my companions demons. Talked to all 3 of them until they disappeared. (just like in my first playthrough). So yes, I have freed them.

Well, it looks like a game screwup.

So it's either:

1. Mods

2. Installed Toolset



My best guess, anyhow.

I've heard of this bug happening to others.



In other words, you just may be screwed and in need of the console if you don't feel like trying to solo the boss.

I have a save from before freeing the first companion, could it work if I try again?



If I have to solo the demon I guess I could always put difficulty to easy for the fight.

Sorry, no clue, I did not follow the topic when I saw it on a different board.

I've gone through the fade about 3 times now, and never had this happen to me yet. So yeah, set it on easy and solo I suppose (and if that does not work use the console).

It worked with returning to the save before freeing my companions. Luckily I had cleared all the main islands and saved freeing my companions to last. So all I had to do now was freeing them again before going to the sloth demon and this time they all showed up and soon the sloth demon was no more

just add your npc's back in through the console's addparty command. It's not cheating, since you should have had them with you anyway
