Standard Default for ME 2 Non-port from ME 1 (and no Genesis) is Shepard is Male, Sole Survivor and Renegade Soldier.  Using the Default Female is the same (Sole Survivor, Renegade Soldier).  Virmire Survivor (VS) is considered to be the opposite Gender of Shepard.

Therefore:

Male Shepards will always have Ashley Williams.

Female Shepards will always have Kaidan Alenko.

The only way this changes is either porting over a save from ME 1, or using Genesis.

Kaidan Alenko, Major in the Alliance Millitary and Spectre, will be in ME 3, assuming that he survived Virmire.  We do not see him in the trailers because Bioware has chosen to use only default Shepard.

Should a Female Shepard ("Femshep") trailer/footage be used, and used in the same manner, Major Alenko will be on the Normandy.

I get happy everytime I read his new title and rank. I'm so eager to see what he and Ash are like as SpecTRes.

But when it was confirmed that female Shepard would be an option in the ME3 demo, I knew that we'd be getting to see Kaidan soon enough. And that's...okay. Because he's good enough, he's strong enough, and gosh darn it, people like him.

Also, the 'keep calm' comment was just pandering to the meme.

The more I read about how powers work now from "ME3 Powers - Stats and Evolutions" thread and the more I look at "supposedly Kaidan's build", the more agitated I become. Any official confirmation, please please?

My last BSN status update was about when we learned Kaidan was confirmed for ME3, it was 9 months ago. 9 MONTHS ago! I COULD have had a baby in that time! 
And all we have to show for it is one lone image.....

Perhaps the longer they take, the better/more dynamic the pictures or video will seem when it hits. Starve people, and even a morsel of bread becomes a feast?

@mineralica I am really anxious to know what his powers are too. Some of us like to plan our squads obsessively and anguish over every detail.

Yes.  Although there is no cannon, Casey Hudson said it himself.  Considering this, it's not like Sheploo can't roll with his bro to save the universe.  Of course, Casey also said that there's not a lot of love out there for Kaidan.<_<

I remember seeing that. Ugh.

Every new info on Mass Effect I end up scouring for images of Kaidan. I mean, they used Sheploo and Kaidan in the promo artwork. New players are going to be really confused with who Kaidan is if all that's been advertised has been Ash. What if they like Kaidan more?

Exactly this ^^ We are just making sure that Bioware knows people would like to see a new screenshot of Kaidan that is all. It doesn't seem unreasonable that we are asking to me. If it wasn't for Sbarge we would of been a lot less patient and would of been asking the same question months earlier.

We know Kaidan is in ME3, we would just like him to actually show up in an in game screenshot or something considering he's the only squad member to not have any in game footage.

But yeah that settles it, I think the elcor have the right idea.

Sincerly: We all know that Kaidan is in the game. It was just a title that she used as an attention grabber to highlight the lack of Kaidan publicity in ME3 marketing.That is all.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a FemShep trailer before the demo. Probably not, but I'll keep hope alive anyway. I bought an Xbox just to play ME1, which resulted in buying ME2, and reserving ME3. (The last 2 I already have for PS3)
