I'd whine more about TIM going full-on Sith Lord if Cerberus actually did more good deeds without any ulterior motives.

What ulterior motives would those be?

Please find me someone who is selfless other than your Mary Sue Shepard. Bonus points if you can find an actual group.

Well, let's take their #1 example of a good deed, taking down the Collectors and saving the outer colonies.  The ulterior motives there were technology and human strength in the Terminus Systems.  Somebody (the Collectors) was forcing humanity to abandon territory in an important frontier, with technology that was obviously way more advanced than ours.  TIM didn't care about the lives lost; in fact he set up a colony to get hit on purpose.  Had it been just pirate raids, would Cerberus really have done anything?

Please find me someone who is selfless other than your Mary Sue Shepard. Bonus points if you can find an actual group.

Actually, my parents are pretty damn selfless.  My dad could have been some sort of surgical specialist in a big city making tons of money, but he chose to be a small town doctor because he believed he could help more people, and he refuses kickbacks from pharmaceutical corporations.  My mom was offered a postion as district attourney, but she turned it down, and represented children in abuse and divorce cases for little to no money right up until a painful neurological disorder forced her to retire early.  My dad accepted less hours for less pay so he could be home more often, for her sake, especially since I'm in college and my brother's graduating high school this year.

People that value helping other people really do exist.  They raised me.  It's why I'm so obnoxiously idealistic and... fruity.

As for an organization, there's Doctors Without Borders.

No human being is truly altruistic, but there are ways to advance a cause other than raising a creepy nightmare army and shooting people in the face.  Cerberus often funds research and development, sure, but it's almost always military in nature.  But why not build a school or a hospital?  Wouldn't smarter, healthier humans make for better humans?  I mean, hell, it'd be cheaper than trying to breed obedient rachni, and significantly less of an investment risk.

Then again, TIM's a high risk, high reward kind of guy.

TIM is the vanguard of his own destruction.

Or at least he would be, if I wasn't.

So what's your problem with that?

I was talking about Mass Effect, by the way...

How do you know they don't and why are you slamming them for being military? Military is pretty goddamn important, especially in this hostile galaxy.

I guarantee you charities that build hospitals and schools already exist. Whether Cerberus contributes or not is unknown. Though in ME2 they did send aid to Horizon.

They also risk their lives for human causes.

Do I smell something fishy?

And it will keep coming back for more and will not stop. Idealistic people don't get far in life. Look at that woman Logan Lara for example, what did she do to deserve that? And she still is going back, next time it would be her life.

Admiral, you're back!  I haven't seen you in forever!

The colony was hit on purpose, yes.  That was controlled though; TIM knew what would be hit.  And it worked.  There were human survivors; not just a single traumitized quarian.  It confirms without a doubt there are Collectors, that they're capturing humans and it isn't just some very powerful slavers.  Mordin's Bat-Swarm Repellent is tested and it works.

While it was a devious move, yes, it had purpose and wasn't just an act of chaotic evil.

Yes, against a force that works for a species of organic AI that wish to commit genocide upon all sentient species.  When it's evil vs. oblivion, you side with evil.

Oh, and update your avatar; Luna is best pony.

No it wasn't. There was nothing evil about it. It was objectively a good thing. It saved lives.

Since when is saving lives evil?

Well yeah, ME2 was all about siding with evil to fight the greater evil.

But now in ME3, we're siding with the good guys again. So we can take down ALL THE EVILS.

The fun has been doubled!

Idealistic people do fine, just not with their ideals.

Well their ideals would be successful if there were more idealistic people. So you could blame everyone else for being selfish.

How is setting up a colony to get attacked by The Collectors(half of said colony eventually getting turned into human goo) saving lives?

For you maybe. I guess my fun wasn't important. All I wanted was the freedom to choose who to support.

I understand why people didn't like the railroading in ME2 but having more railroading, just going the opposite direction, was not the solution.

>>>In b4 Lollololl Cerberus fanboy<<<

I dont know why Bioware wants to make Cerberus and Reapers the only enemys in Mass Effect 3 it seems.

To me this series is about choice. Am I mistaken?

In Mass Effect 2 you could support Cerberus is several ways

-Keep Collector Base (Make own Reapers, learn how to control Reapers?)
-Give Legion to Cerberus (Probably to learn more about how to control the Geth)
-Keep David in Atlas Station for study on how to control the Geth
-Support Illusive Man but never officially (Heaven forbid Shephard actually makes decisons on who to side with, less it confuse the 10 yr old Gears of War, COD gamer)
-Others I forgot

But now it seems the Illusive Man just wants to throw Shephard out the window, saying he doesnt need him/her anymore.

Yet the Illusive Man brought Shephard back, gave him/her the Normandy back and agrees that if they lose Shephard humanity will follow.

So why does he throw Shephard away? Why cant we contact the Illusive Man and work with him? Take Mass Effect 3 in a different direction?

Being a Renegade means stopping the Reapers at any cost. Shephard even says this but I guess working with Cerberus again even though he was in all of ME2 is too high of a cost?

Im no writer but lets say it goes like this.

After Shep leaves Earth a Shep who has supported TIM in the past should be contacted by TIM in the Table room place.

TIM says how they found the Prothean Artifact on Mars that will help stop the Reapers. Unfortunatly going along with this will mean instead of Cerberus hounding Shephard it will be the Alliance!

Liara, VS, Anderson, Hackett and all Alliance forces will be enemys from now on. Instead of Liara we get Kai Leng as a squadmate and your job for the rest of ME3 is to gather everyone around Cerberus's plan.

I hope this option is in ME3 if not it will be a huge missed opportuninity.

What do you guys think?

Also Im neither pro Cerberus or pro Alliance I am pro choice. I have around 13 Shephards waiting to be imported in ME3 =D

He's got Kai Leng

Shepard-Good guy
Cerberus-Bad guys
Reapers-Really Bad guys

Good guys job-Defeat bad guys

Shepard's job-Defeat Cerberus and Reapers

Seems everything is as it should be.

Allow me to clear up your ignorance for you. Clearly you have no idea what as accomplished on Horizon or why it was important.

With Horizion Cerberus able to choose the battlefield. They were able to lure the Collectors to a location of their choosing and thus surprise attack them and drive them off. This saved lives, two-thirds of the Horizon colony to be exact.

Otherwise the Collectors would have chosen a world on their own and we'd have never known about it until after they were done, having abducted the entire colony.

Is that clear enough for you?

But the Reapers aren't done yet, so there's no reason to fight the lesser evils until the greater evils is destroyed.

Indeed it has.  But, given that Derpy is now canon, she should supersede Luna for a bit.
