How is setting up a colony to get attacked by The Collectors(half of said colony eventually getting turned into human goo) saving lives?

Allow me to clear up your ignorance for you. Clearly you have no idea what as accomplished on Horizon or why it was important.

With Horizion Cerberus able to choose the battlefield. They were able to lure the Collectors to a location of their choosing and thus surprise attack them and drive them off. This saved lives, two-thirds of the Horizon colony to be exact.

Otherwise the Collectors would have chosen a world on their own and we'd have never known about it until after they were done, having abducted the entire colony.

Is that clear enough for you?

I like your thinking.

Well yeah, ME2 was all about siding with evil to fight the greater evil.

But now in ME3, we're siding with the good guys again. So we can take down ALL THE EVILS.

The fun has been doubled!

But the Reapers aren't done yet, so there's no reason to fight the lesser evils until the greater evils is destroyed.

Indeed it has.  But, given that Derpy is now canon, she should supersede Luna for a bit.

Lesser evils are now helping greater evils.

DOUBLE TAKEDOWN.

No ignorance exists. I know why TIM did what he did. It was a necessary evil, but a evil nonetheless.

Fact is, due to his actions, lives were lost. Another fact is due to his actions, lives were saved.

But, the important part is he sicked the Collectors on a colony. That act is an evil act, and he being a "Ends justify the means" kind of guy, he doesn't see it as a bad thing.

Its all perspective.

No it wasn't. There was nothing evil about it. It was objectively a good thing. It saved lives.

Since when is saving lives evil?

Because otherwise the collectors could strike at other colonies - and not knowing where and when, you'd not be able to stop them. Hence more lives lost, nothing gained.

Well yes, that's the point, they really shouldn't have, at least, not till the Reapers are almost defeated.

On top of being evil, Cerberus is also incredibly stupid.

No it wasn't. It was called "saving what lives you can". That is not evil in any sense of the word.

Lives were not lost, lives were saved.

No, it's not evil.
The collectors would have hit EITHER WAY. There was no way to prevent them from attacking A colony.

Fact is, due to his actions, lives were lost. Another fact is due to his actions, lives were saved.

Lives would have been lost either way.
It's not Cerberus that was killing the colonbists - the Collcetors were. So put the blame where it belongs.

there was nothing avil about the colony lure. Nothing. Zero. Nada. Zilch.

No, the Alliance is.  Cerberus likes cake.  If the Alliance gave Cerberus cake, they could pass to the underworld and back with no problems.

Cerberus isn't stupid for following its nature.   :D

Those lives would have been taken anyway.

Good lord, is there no getting through to you?

It's like saying that if I ran into a burning building but only managed to save three out of the five people inside that  I am somehow responsible for the people that were left behind and died in the fire.

Either an entire colony was going to be taken by the Collectors or part of one. Cerberus made sure that only part of a colony was taken. They saved what lives they could and you are blaming them for the lives they couldn't save.

That is twisted and delusional.

I think I know now where your perspective is coming from and it amazes me you are that flexible.

How are you getting enough oxygen?

Tell that to Lilith.  Ignoring negative consequences is a slippery slope.

But if the c- wait what am I doing. Rofl.

I'm pretty sure Cerberus is stupid. Not 100% of the time, but 60% of the time, all the time.

I would if she were alive. Instead I'll have to settle for telling the survivors who Cerberus saved on Horizon.

LPPrince's stance does not make sense to anyone with a brain.

Save some lives or save no lives.

Saving some lives is then evil?

Cerberus would be less evil if they'd done nothing and everyone died instead?

Oh, why do I bother.

I really am an idiot.

Okay, apparently my theory from before didn't stick, so I'll try a new one.

What if, and follow me here because this is gonna get a little crazy, but what if this entire situation with Cerberus, TIM and the Reapers all existed in a piece of imaginary interactive fiction, let's call it a video game for arguments sake.

And what if this video game were being made by a conglomerate of people, let's call them Bioware, who hadn't yet revealed every machination behind every detail of this "video game" yet and that it wouldn't be truly revealed until a date in the future, let's call that "March 6th" just to give it a fun little title.

I posit that if we wait until this "March 6th" than the truth of this "video game" will be revealed once "Bioware" releases this information to the public.

Is my reasoning sound?

Better hypothetical would be that Cerberus sent an arsonist into said building knowing they'd start a fire to kill people and THEN Cerberus only saved 3 out of 5.

Hell yeah they're responsible.

Yes, stubborn and unreasonable stupidity does that to me. I really, really hate it. It is the bane of the human race and it is far too prevelant.

No, more like Cerberus figured out a way to tell where the arsonist would strike next and set up a trap to try and stop him.

That is such a heavily flawed analogy I laughed.  This is like saying you aren't responsible for the people who died in the fire you set so you could draw out the arsonist you know likes to watch fires from a nearby rooftop.  So you saved one or two, that doesn't mean the ones who died are not you're fault.  The Collecters may have targeted Horizon eventually, or maybe not and Shepard would have stopped them before it even became a problem.  The point is that the people of Horizon were made to suffer because of the Illusive Man.

I don't know what you're doing at all. ^_^

Oh, they make errors some times, yes, but you can say that about virtually any entity in ME.

They were indoctrinated to save the colonies from the Collectors.  Why do you hate saving people from Collectors? D=

Maybe I'm missing something, but why didn't TIM just set the "trap" for the Collector Ship mission from the beginning? Where Shepard actually boarded it.

What did Horizon really gain anyone?

More like, there's an arsonist on the loose that's burning buildings down. Police is doing nothing. You dont' know where he is or which house he plans to burn, YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE ARSONIST, so you can't intercept him.
The only course left is to lure him to a house and stop him before he does more damage.

So I wonder- what would you have done? How would you stop the reapers? And how big would the death toll be?

Seriousy, you people are redicoouls. You demand TIM to be responsible for what the collectors do.
