At this point the game has basically become unplayable. Waiting 3+ minutes for minor loads is just too much. Restarting the game is a very temporary fix and I am wondering if any progress has been made towards a fix?

I fear I may have ended up with yet another $60 coaster.

I have this problem too on an AMD 5600+ CPU.  Dual core.  I solved it by setting the CPU affinity to core 0. It has no impact on game performance and eliminates the memory leak. This problem is not unique to this game, Fallout 3 had the same problem.

Just alt tab back to the desktop, CTRL + SHIFT + ESCAPE to open process manager, look for daorigins.exe and right click on it.  Select "Set affinity" and make sure only CPU 0 is checked.

I don't think this issue was there in 1.0, it only appeared after the 1.01 patch.

Closet is right, the game is unplayable in its current form.

I have a pretty decent gaming rig and the wait times are simply unacceptable.

Please deliver a fix promptly or I will take my business elsewhere in the future.

Regards,

Wilson

Thanks indeed! The game runs a dot slower, but I didn't get any slowdowns!

I love how people are too lazy to look for fixes before posting and the same issues gets posted over and over.

FYI, the core affinity fix does NOT work for everyone.

There does need to be a patch for this issue. It's a little unreasonable to be asking for an "ETA" on such a patch, however. It'll be ready when it's done.

I realize, but obviously by at least two posts here, most are not even looking.

Has the issue even been acknowledged?

To my knowledge, no. Unfortunate as it is.

I play on a single core processor. My load times start at 5 seconds 'ish and will get to 2 minutes+ after about 1-2 hours of play.

I'm 30 hours into the game. I've noticed slightly longer load times in the Deep Roads, but I don't think I've once had a load time over 10 seconds. I was averaging about 4 seconds before. I've not seen a memory leak once.

Obviously, there are people that have. Again, it makes me wonder if the leak is with certain video drivers, or certain configs. Bioware can't fix the issue until they isolate specifically where the issue is. Creating 20 new threads a day isn't going to fix the issue. It would be better to have one thread on the issue.

It might be useful if moderators merged similar threads on the issue together. Perhaps making two threads specially. One could be more meta-discussion on the issue. Lump together all the "Bioware is ignoring me and refusing to fix this" comments in one thread. In another, lump together all the comments of people posting actual pertinent info "I am running Windows 7 64-bit, with hardware , X, Y and Z. I'm running DA version 1.01b. I noticed the problem specifically at this time, or when this occurs, etc."

Wouldn't you say its funny how the slow down only occurs after you visit the dwarves?

I've been having the memory leak since I started playing the game. Orzammar is generally the last place I visit, so it's obviously not tied to a specific location. I'm going to try the affinity thing and see if that helps at all.
