Well, sorry, but this is your problem. Don't get me wrong, I love and appreciate that you want everything because you care about the game so much. But having all the weapons, or all the armor or all the X (keeping in mind we have not announced all the DLC for ME3 yet, X could be anything) is not required, but optional.
That you want what is optional is awesome, but do not blame us for trying to promote our games and products to everyone instead of just you (and by you I mean you all who feel this way, not you as in you).
Actually Chris, it's YOUR problem.
We know that 5 years ago all of this stuff would've been part of what we bought when we bought the game. Today, we know that you're cutting out a fair chunk of the game and selling bits here and there as "DLC". We're not idiots. If it's available on Day 1, we know it was done and tested along with the RTM.
You're welcome to continue to do so, but honestly, don't be surprised when the gaming public quits buying your games, and brands your studio worthless. That's what the real outcome of this behavior is, it's not "Our problem", it's yours. Our problem is trying to decide whether or not it's worth it to us to buy your games.
With you nickle-diming us by forcing us to spend signficant extra sums to get the whole game that should've been (And likely is) on the disc, people are very rapidly going to decide your games have no value. Quite honestly, your studio is already the subject of parody for it's shameless hawking of DLC that was finished with the game's release.
Not real sure why you think it's such a good idea to turn around and tell the customer that it's "Their problem" when they tell you that your market strategy is a major issue for them.

I paid 70 quid for the Collectors Edition, it's not right that the content of the Collectors Edition is released for an extra 5 quid.
That just sucks. What would be the point of paying extra just for 2-3 momths exclusivity?
I. Want. To. Feel. Special.
I'm not saying it's fine to turn around and release it 4 months after ME3 drops, but after 12 or more months, I wouldn't care.
Then i feel like a retard, living with the fact that i dished out an extra 20 quid knowing the that it will be released for a measly 5 quid in the future.
There is no point of this 'Collectors Edition' then. We will get half a soundtrack, virtual clothes for my character and my little buddies, half a artbook with the full version being released as well and a bonus mission that is released as soon as the game comes out.
I don't know what "quid" is (I'm assuming it's a form of currency), but if the CE content is ever released soemtime down the road, it isn't going to be cheap. CE DLC should not be cheap.
LOL, yanks...
I know right? Quid a form of currency? They're ignorance is so bad that I've even heard some of them talking about "Latin American languages" and not knowing the physical difference between an actual Spaniard and most Latin Americans.

I'm sorry but the argument that all DLC is stuff ripped from the base game is a bit dated. These items were never in the game, they were concieved of for promotional purposes. Why would you worry yourself for a few extra guns anyway?Gatt9 wrote...

This. The far more likely scenario is that five years ago you would never see these items at all.

You heard it here, first! The studio that produced 2010's game of the year, and the game branded most anticipated of 2012, will lose all customer support in an overwhelmingly apocalyptic and nonsensical turn. Because they put skins/minor multiplayer upgrade sets into toy packaging.
What. XD
Perspective.
I want everyone spouting hyperbole to read their posts aloud in front of the mirror and then drown in your own shame.

Virtually certain that we wouldn't. I mean, multiplayer skins?
Of course , a long time ago they might have been shipping something else. Considering how lousy the PC portraits in BG1 and 2 were, that would have been a great opportunity for DLC.

When I first got on the Bioware forums before the launch of ME1, Bioware's reputation was flawless. Bioware had a reputation for quality and loyalty to their fans that money simply couldn't buy and I never saw posts anywhere on the net complaining about any action the company took.
That is no longer the case.
Bioware is still a great company, and they're still my favorite developer; but they need to start thinking seriously about the damage they are doing to their own brand with these sort of cross promotional gimmicks.

The 'only young kids play games' comment was poking fun at the 'only young kids buy toys' comment.
Point is age is a number that don't mean squat when it comes to what you can / can't / should or should not buy.
Edit : Well - at least in regards to something that doesn't have a minimum age requirement.

There were always complainers. That is what people do. Other people can't seem to stand the fact Bioware is no longer the little indie company that makes games for the PC and feel the need to whine about everything they do while pushing themselves further up the backside of CD Projekt who are an indie company that make games for PC only. Funny how fickle loyalty can be. All you need to do is get popular and grow your company and fans will hate you and turn to the next small company they find.

And lets be honest - most of it usually isn't up to the standard of what already comes with the game.
Hell - I went right out of my way to get those Dr Pepper codes - and you know what - I think I looked at everything and decided that was a huge waste of time and effort. Never used them once.

Indeed. It really is frightening how similar gaming forums are when you look at the style of complaints. Hell, I was on the Assassin's Creed forums the other day and it's the same stuff; AC1 was the best, everything since then is rubbish, ruined the plot, dlc is evil, etc. Same thing with Dark Souls (Demon Souls was better, catering to the masses by making it multiplatform, dumbed down, etc). And (yet again) same thing with Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It is human nature for people to complain.

Yeah, I have to say, when ME1 was coming, the complaint threads were fairly rare compared to the ME2 prelaunch. I have been reading the forums for years and BioWare has certainly taken a lot of hits ever since they went with EA.
This figurine thing won't hurt them much, but the ridiculous amount of spread out exclusive DLCs for day one of release has caused a stir that I hope I won't see again. They could fix a lot of the issue by letting us know if they will offer it later on for general purchase (Rockstar did it with LA Noire, but I'm sure a project that doesn't cater to the mainstream shooter masses isn't a good model in their eyes, especially since it had story DLC).

For crying out loud, is a few guns and skins really worth complaining about, hell I would of like gamestops pre-order bonus for ME2 but I'm not complaining because its not worth it, it was just armor and a gun, not that big of an impact on the entire game.
It's worth it when it is Mass Effect.

That's all I want and I don't expect them to release it for free. Just put a reasonable price tag on these items and sell them seperately and I'll be satisfied, same goes for all the pre-order incentives and other such cross promotional stuff.
We can't rely on that because they won't say it. They care more now about twisting ways for people to buy more Mass Effect merchandise instead of providing an even playing field for fans of the core of the franchise, the game and experience of Shepard.
This DLCs on the action figures is the same strategy they've done with the Dr. Pepper promotional content on ME2.
First it will be exclusive and weeks after the release they made it available to everyone in a $2 pack.
