Then release them to everyone after five or six months. Don't tell me that would defeat the purpose too.

Turns out that would still defeat the purpose.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for the items to be released later. Problem is, the desire is for us, the gamers, to partake in those promotions. If the items will be released later anyway, we have no reason to partake in anything as we'll just get the items later without being a part of whatever it is they wanted us to be a part of.

If they are really only available through a promotion, it gives us reason to do what they want.

Now, as far as preorder items and such, its the same deal. Items are created specifically to entice gamers to purchase from select retailers. If the items were just going to be released later, it wouldn't matter where we preordered from- they don't want that.

If it were up to me, every bonus item ever(barring CE items) would be released for everyone to download/purchase at some point. Even the CE items, but only for those in countries that might not have access to a CE.

Thing is, that's not gonna happen. Tough break, but thats the way it is. Gotta see it from their perspective and not just our own.

Also, there seems to be a possession argument that can be made.

"I bought the CE and paid extra money for it, I don't want others to have those Collector's items"

"I preordered from *insert retailer here*, they didn't, why should they get the item I got for it"

Some folks support those trains of thought. I'm down with the first one, as I think Collector's items are just that, and should stay that way. If you have the option to acquire a CE but decide against it, you shouldn't get the items that come with it. If you CAN'T acquire a CE, literally CAN'T because your region doesn't have the CE available, THEN I think you should be able to get them elsewhere.

As for the second, I can understand those who feel that way. I disagree because its one thing when the choice is between a standard or CE copy- by getting the CE you get everything in the standard copy. With retailer bonuses, you can't get one copy that has everything. That makes me believe they should be available later on.

I'm bummed out for those who missed out on the Terminus Assault Armor and Blackstorm Singularity Projector, but I luckily got my hands on them with my CE Gamestop preorder of ME2.

The toys technically aren't selling at all.  They're not out yet.

I thought the first series was out already?

I don't see why they make a Collectors Edition and then release the content of the Collectors edition a montg after.

It removes the point of the Collector's edition and ruins your own Collectors edition as in the end, it just becomes a expensive snazzy looking standard edition.

That's how i see it anyway.

Agreed. "Collector's Edition" has to mean something. Otherwise you're effectively paying extra for early access to items everyone will have in a few months.

That's lame.

I can understand releasing the CE content a VERY long time after the game comes out (Example: Black Ops releasing the exclusive Zombie maps 8 or 9 months after the game came out), since, well, everyone who does have the CE will have experienced the content to the fullest, and there's no real reason to keep it exclusive anymore.

They're probably alternate appearance swaps for the characters with the figurines or something, or items. Big deal. Believe it or not the vanilla game comes with a full complement of items and you don't actually need to spend an extra $120 if you don't want the figurines themselves.

If the DLC are actual missions that would be annoying, but I highly doubt that.

Anyway, this is sad. Taking content out of games and selling them with ****ing figurines?

Baseless fearmongering.

The previous two MEs were balanced just fine, despite DLC.

Isn't that something of an understatement? My understanding is that the DLC items made ME2's balance worse. I wouldn't know myself; while I'm a strong supporter of DLC in principle, I never actually buy any for myself.

So did I, but after I (And 99% of everyone else who purchased it) experienced the content 10 or more times from every aspect and angle, I don't see the reason to keep it exclusive, aside from e-peen stroking.

The Firepower Pack and Kasumi's Stolen Memory effectively broke the weapon system because the Mattock, Phalanx, Geth Pulse Shotgun, and Locust were all pretty overpowered. If not overpowered, fine. But veerry powerful.

I paid 70 quid for the Collectors Edition, it's not right that the content of the Collectors Edition is released for an extra 5 quid.

That just sucks. What would be the point of paying extra just for 2-3 momths exclusivity?

I'm not saying it's fine to turn around and release it 4 months after ME3 drops, but after 12 or more months, I wouldn't care.

If they're going to release CE items later for the rest of the fandom to nab, it should be at an elevated cost($10 or more) and only after they submit a video of them balancing...

I lost my train of thought.

If you didn't notice, I'm teasing.

Then i feel like a retard, living with the fact that i dished out an extra 20 quid knowing the that it will be released for a measly 5 quid in the future.

There is no point of this 'Collectors Edition' then. We will get half a soundtrack, virtual clothes for my character and my little buddies, half a artbook with the full version being released as well and a bonus mission that is released as soon as the game comes out.

There is nothing that makes this a 'Collectors Edition'. This is the more cash than brains edition and on the back of it in big red letters 'sucker'.

I don't know what "quid" is (I'm assuming it's a form of currency), but if the CE content is ever released soemtime down the road, it isn't going to be cheap. CE DLC should not be cheap.

Quid is the nickname of the Great British Pound. Instead of 5 pounds, we just say 5 quid.

The bonus mission/character is probably $5 worth and the soundtrack $10, if the items sell for $5 later that's probably overpriced considering all the other things you still get with the CE.

I don't think DLC being too cheap is a problem you have to worry about.
