Wow, more US exclusive promotional DLC. Would have thought after EA screwed everyone on the Dr. Pepper promotion they'd have learned a lesson, but that was stupid of me.

At least it's only MP stuff, which I largely don't care about. Still, I like to feel I have the "complete" package, silly as it may be

Same here.

Like you said, it feels complete.

It still ruins the idea of 'Collectors Edition'. Atleast change the name to Limited Edition then with bonus early access to certain content.

This Collectors Edition is lie. It is nowhere near a 'Collectors Edition'.

Why?! You get all kinds of other extra stuff, remember?

How does it make it less of a Collectors Edition, just because some of the ingame stuff gets released to the public after 8-10 months? You get to play around with your robot dog and Liara in her fancy costume 8 months before me, because you were willing to pay more money for the game. Seems pretty fair to me.

And you got the soundtrack, art book, Limited Edition comic...  Then if you got the physical copy, you got the patch and the lithographic thing...  As well as a metal case, everyone else gets plastic.

Looks like it is xbox and PC only so no motivation to buy it here. Any reason it's not for PS3? I knew they were going to play favorites when i heard it had kinect support and not move.

Read my post.

The art-book is only half. The full version gets released soon. The soundtrack will only come with 5-6 sounds, the comic is just the same as any other but with a new cover art, the Lithograph can be purchased from the Bioware store and the metal case is...just metal.

So you're paying that much extra money for a bunch of DLC packs?

yea i have a very hard time believing that a developer will invest dlc via toys instead of dlc for xbl or psn.

you have to remember your looking at maybe 25 bucks a figure plus shipping and with the way people are with money now man no one can afford it.

i am interested to hear how they are going to split the dlcs like sp and mp before or after the game is out

Why are you having such a hard time believing it?  The Dr. Pepper promos for Mass Effect 2 and Dead Space 2 were promotional items and a marketing gimmick.  This included some exclusive skins for DS2's MP.

As for the figures themselves they're about $17.99 each depending on where you look, not $25.  The DLC is likely minor visual flair.  And as for people being able to afford them, I can afford them.  Plenty of other people can as well.  And I'd be buying the figures for the figures.  Not for the DLC.  So the "no one" statement doesn't hold true, at all.

I guess it's safe to say the toys aren't selling well :P

The toys technically aren't selling at all.  They're not out yet.

I thought the first series was out already?

-Polite

They did and they sold fairly well.  They're being rereleased by a new manufacturer who will also be releasing Series 2.  All 8 figures are being released under ME3 branding w/ new ME3 packaging, bios and codes for in-game content.

We really don't know what the codes unlock yet. The info from PoeGhostal's chat w/ Big Fish leads him to believe it's MP content.

If it's anything to do with the story, I'll be pissed. If it's weapon/armor/MP DLC, then it won't bug me.

And I bet the way you can access Turian Infiltrator is through the Garrus figure, since it wasn't listed in the MP screenshots.

Damn it, why do you have to pay additional to get all the cool MP characters. :/ I guess that's how world works...

I feel that the ME3 MP DLC is most likely gonna simply be re-skins, like these here.

Actually from the press release we know what type of dlc it is going to be. I've posted this before in this thread:

Thargorichiban wrote...

Apparently
they are going to be DLC for the multiplayer part of the game. They
unlock either weapons, characters, boosters, or mods depending on the
figure.

Hopefully buying Legion's figure isn't the only way to unlock the Geth in multiplayer...

And
everyone should keep in mind that Diamond isn't shipping these new
figures until April 26th, over a full month after the game comes
out.

So it's not going to be simple re-skins. It's going to be stuff that actually does something in multiplayer.

That "press release" wasn't picked up by any of the major toy news outlets yet. Secondly, it says "could" in relation to what it unlocks and goes into no detail, just speculates about what it could be for.

The language is clearly not confirming what's unlocked.  It also says nothing about PS3

As a bonus, each of the 8 figures will include a downloadable content pack for the Mass Effect 3 multi-player mode (on PC and XBox) that could include powerful new weapons and new characters. The pack could also include character boosters, weapon modifications, and weapon upgrades to make your multi-player squad stronger.

I've been thinking (and desperately hoping it isn't true) that it might be referring to the fact the DLC included with the figures might be... random. You know, like they do with trading cards.

If so... I don't even know what will happen.

A code for your favourite Mass Effect 3 character mission now in every Mc Donalds kids meal! "I'm lovin' it!"

Really...Hey Bioware, is anyone over there actually aware that the more you let EA rip your games appart the smaller the chance becomes that anyone actually experiences the Mass Effect games (or any future projects) as it was intended? Or does noone really care about that anymore? Because that is the kind of vibe I'm getting for the past years. Internal logic and integrity? Whatever, it's just a dumb game right and beyond that just a tool to make money. It gets used, worn out and thrown away until the next product is hyped through marketing and sees the same fate. There are dedicated animators, visual artists, sound designers and programmers who want to bring a universe to life and there are people who don't give a **** about artistic value as a whole of what they are creating and if it will be momorable, as long as they can drain it to death.

Stand up to that, please!

I thought the day 1 DLC list for Dragon Age 2 was shocking and now Mass Effect 3 does the same thing again or even worse. I really hope this DLC that comes with the figures is just alternate appearance packs again that are so bad and out of place that nobody misses them anyway.

Yes how dare a company try to make money after putting in a crapload of money to make a product. Just terrible.

People's problem is they think they should be entitled to everything for free. This offer is nothing more than an incentive to sell the figures. A new marketing technique that gives those who buy the figures a little extra for the multiplayer game. But no matter what happens people will still whine about it because they want everything handed to them. It's like when they added some extra DLC as incentive to buy the PS3 version of ME2 and people were crying about it because it was originally for another promotion and they couldn't get it.
