For heaven´s sake the DLC (if exclusive) will be nothing more than different skins (like Miranda´s body model for multiplayer) or at best another weapon that is not any stronger than those available through other sources and weaker than what you can get in game.

In case you missed it, a lot of us care deeply and want access to all things Mass Effect. It doesn't feel good to be on the down end of a sales manipulation when it involves a creation you love. We can't just forget about the DLC.

Yeah, shame on them for giving you a little extra bonus when buying the figures. Who do they think they are?

I find the notion rather offensive myself. Extra bonuses are absurd!

lol, sales manipulation

People act like its a crime for Bioware to say, "Hey thanks for buying this figurine, here's a random item for ME3 as a little extra thanks"

People try to pretend that its the figurines that are the extras. Come on guys, really?

Plenty of things to discuss and debate, but instead we're going with this?

Stupid Blizzard, why did you make me pay $175 for a Blizzcon ticket so I could get a Night Elf portrait in StarCraft 2, making it a complete experience?

If I paid $120 for actual DLC for ME3, I want the most supercalifragilisticexpialidocious DLC ever.

Cause its something to say when I have nothing to say, and THATs how beastly it has to be.

For a second I thought you had linked me to a porn website, OP. Luckily I was wrong and my eyes were spared from the disgusting het.

Anyway, I doubt it'll be a game-breaking, ground-shaking DLC.

Bioware knows exactly what they are doing. Here is how it works,

Retailers pay Bioware money (Payola) in exchange for exclusive promotional DLC to drive purchases.

These items will not be made available (remember the Blackstorm launcher from ME2?) because the contracts between Bioware and retailers are for exclusive content.

Basically Bioware makes more money from retailer Payola, than they would by selling customers this dlc directly.

Bioware doesn't care about its customers, and these ****ty distribution gimmicks are evidence of how little respect Bioware has for its fanbase.

Wanting to own every piece of in-game content is very normal behavior. Its called loss aversion, people want to have the full product or they will feel that they are missing out on content.

I'm leaving my opinion blank until know details of what exactly the DLC is.

@Edit ~This doesn''t mean I won't get annoyed later, it just means right now I don't know what it is so I'm not going to rage about it. If it for example is (anything) with SP then I may get 'slightly' annoyed. If is what says it is and is MP then as long as that DLC does not give a 'vast' difference (boost) to others compared to those who don't buy the figurines then again not an issue.

So as long as does not affect SP at all, as advertised.

So long as it doesnt give a huge unfair advantage to thers in MP.

Then meh... I really just don't care.

Seeing how the DLC will be randomised, does that mean we'll not be hearing anything from you? :P

Random or not will still be formed from a list of possibles and picked from that list.

@Edit ~I guess I do have an opinion but not going to be offended till know what details are.

In accordance with Murphy's Law, any and all randomised DLC will be divvied out in inverse proportions to the classes you prefer to play.

ie:
Preferred class: Vanguard
Random DLC Received: +10% Tech damage bonus, or unique sniper rifle unlocked.

Those of us who want content have no choice. We get the content, and we just have to speak out about our issues with its release and how we get it. There is nothing wrong with that. It is feedback on something we feel is executed wrong, but as the only means to reach the product, we will have to follow their plans and hope they are respectable people that care about their customer's interests and experiences.

Let's be honest here. It's an incentive for those buying toy figurines.
DLC weapons and armor have been proven to usually be overpowered freebies.
The characters are likely going to be Multiplayer skins. Anything that adds to the game's story will be out later for less of a price than these toys will be.

In short. They give extra content to trick people into buying toys.

270 euros for just some stupid figurines and a random weapon pack or skin is just scandalous!

I'll give some links to Collector's Editions of other games that are far less expensive than this bull:

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Codex Edition for 70 dollars (full game AND bonus content):

http://www.joystiq.c...-edition-in-eu/

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Collector's Edition for about 130 dollars (full game AND bonus content):

http://www.gamestop....s-edition/88308

The latter (Witcher 2) may be more expensive, but 129 dollars is still far less than the 270 dollars one has to pay for EA's newest figurine franchise...

Also, as I've mentioned before, even the Collector's Edition of Skyrim costs about 150 dollars...

So yeah, seems like this is indeed a cheap trick into getting the customer to basically buy crap for such a price...

I can understand where EA is coming from, though. They know Mass Effect is a hot topic right now with the third game coming out soon, so they must've thought 'Hey, let's milk the customers even more! :D' *sarcasm*

Oh well, since the toys are so limited regionally, I'll probably never even see one of them. I don't care anyway. >_>

What's mostly annoying about this: "NOTE - the above text only applies to the upcoming shipment, not any current stock."

I already have the first edition of these figures, which came without a code...

Yeah, people who buy the normal edition should get the DLC from the CE for no extra cost too.

So why compare figures to Collector's Editions of other games? ME3 got it's own CE with bonus content.

And 270 Euros? wtf?

@Ivandra: Why are you comparing it to collectors editions when clearly that is completely not what this is?
These are figurines with added incentive for those why might be thinking of buying (or compulsive completionist consumertrons).
The price is for the toys. The DLC is an afterthought and likely will be released as a cheaper bundle(s) down the road.

Personally I'd never buy such worthless plastic memorabilia and likely the DLC is probably the "cheating" kind with freebie advantages.

I made the comparison because I saw these figurines as part of the ME games in total. They carry DLC with them, or at least something similiar, therefore becoming part of what a Collector's Edition of Mass Effect would be like. With other collector's editions, you also get items like books, necklaces, maps, I dunnowhat. The same could be said of these figurines, even though they are sold separately from the actual ME games. That's why I was making the comparison.

Apparently it's not what a ME Collector's Edition would be like since they're not included.

Should any other merchandise like shirts then be part of a CE as well since some CE's include shirts?

That's utter bollocks. They are seperatly sold figurines.
Does all merchandise count towards a collectors edition's total worth. Why are t-shirts etc... not included?

You can compare the things you get between the collectors editions, but don't go adding separate merchandise?

I think Ivandra's point is that she considers the in-game content the primary product and the action figures are secondary. I'm just guessing because that is how I feel. I could care less about any non-game content, keep all that crap, but don't make me buy it just to unlock in-game content.

Game content is not a bargaining chip or leverage to get the customer to buy more. Give us the full body of work and sell your non-game crap separately.
