Optional or bonus DLC is just that, optional.
I see this complaint a lot and I'm sorry, I do not find it valid. We are not focing you to buy figures or books or whatever to get DLC. We are providing a bonus for those people who buy these tems.
If we were scummy enough to do something like "the only way to finish ME3 is to buy 4 figures, a desktop Normandy, a rifle replica and send me 50 bucks" or whatever, THEN this would be a valid complaint. However, we are NOT doing this.
If you want a Garrus figure, great. You get a little something extra to use in game because you are fan and you like our products. It is a small reward. If you don't want a Garrus figure, no problem. You get to keep your money and you can still play Mass Effect 3 unimpaired by not having this DLC.
But for those who want the full content experience, will this ever be possible without buying large amounts of merchandise to obtain DLC?

ME3 is a hotdog, It's a full content experience of deliciousness. But what if you like Onions, Sauerkraut, Jalapenos, mustard on it?
That's the DLC. You can add other things to make your "Hot Dog" more to how you want your hot dog to be. It wouldn't make sense to get all the toppings if you don't like several of them, but the god ones you get.

Floating the idea of purchasing optional DLC that will not affect my overall experience. It is pricey, but tempting. And I do not see or feel a gun being pointed at my head with the shooter telling me to purchase it.
The power of choice. Love it.

Besides, have you seen the prices at professional sports stadiums, or Disneyland?
Disneyland took my money for a 7$ hot dog, and for them, that was hella cheap.

Just eat your hot dog then. No one is making you buy condiments and souvenir cups. If you want to buy it, then buy it. Otherwise, no one is making you buy it.

Blergh!
You totally missed the part where I got tired of people stupidly telling fans of the series to just not get DLC like they can pretend it doesn't exist. I sure appreciate when everyone has access to condiments without having to go preorder their hot dogs or buy the $20 souvenir cups to get their ketchup. Ketchup sure adds some nice flare.

They aren't. They're selling $20 souvenir cups with a ketchup packet for free. The purpose of these figures isn't to sell the dlc. The dlc is a "thank you for your purchase". They want you to buy the figures. The minor dlc is an afterthought.

But they sold me a hot dog and none of the associated condiments are available without buying the souvenir cups or preordering the hot dog at a specific hot dog stand.

Nah, I just ignored it. Save yourself some stress and let people decide for themselves. You'll feel a lot better.
Enjoy that hot dog. I gotta zip.

270 euros for just some stupid figurines and a random weapon pack or skin is just scandalous!
I'll give some links to Collector's Editions of other games that are far less expensive than this bull:
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Codex Edition for 70 dollars (full game AND bonus content):
http://www.joystiq.c...-edition-in-eu/
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Collector's Edition for about 130 dollars (full game AND bonus content):
http://www.gamestop....s-edition/88308
The latter (Witcher 2) may be more expensive, but 129 dollars is still far less than the 270 dollars one has to pay for EA's newest figurine franchise...
Also, as I've mentioned before, even the Collector's Edition of Skyrim costs about 150 dollars...
So yeah, seems like this is indeed a cheap trick into getting the customer to basically buy crap for such a price...
I can understand where EA is coming from, though. They know Mass Effect is a hot topic right now with the third game coming out soon, so they must've thought 'Hey, let's milk the customers even more!' *sarcasm*
Oh well, since the toys are so limited regionally, I'll probably never even see one of them. I don't care anyway. >_>
What do figures have to do with a collectors edition? ME3 has a collectors edition this is just a promotion for the figures. Nobody is saying your game will be ruined if you dont want the figures. The DLC included won't effect the game in any way, shape or form except for a multiplayer extra.
Comparing a figure promotion to a collectors edition is ridiculous.

Again, why should this content be exclusive? Why can't I get an option to buy it, without having to buy an action figure?

That's exactly what they are. Extra characters for the multiplayer game.

Yes. But that argument assumes that it isn't important to some people, which it is.

I just don't get the concept of getting "exclusive" content from buying a Garrus figure. And content that's "random". Meaning, I could probably get the same thing twice, instead of something new per figure.

Because then there is no incentive to buy the figure. What's so hard to understand about "It is a special promotion for the figures"

We don't have any solid info yet, but it's possible.
I want to know what they're offering before I make a judgement.

Since when should there be an inceptive for an action figure? We didn't have those in the past. It's not like it needs it or no one is going to buy it.
Again, why make a "random" exclusive. Why not just give me the option to get it for free, if I buy a figure. Or buy it seperately.

I agree. The figures would have been bought by those who wanted them. This pushes those of us interested in the content to have to buy these figures to get the content, which obviously makes it an astronomical price for that experience.

Stop getting caught up in your own tantrum because you can't have something. You are acting like a child.
Promotions have existed for action figures for decades from comics to whatever else. Why can't Bioware decide to make a promotion to help sell more figures? Because you can't have it?
There is nothing random about it as an exclusive. Its a little extra and a thankyou to people who spent their hard earned cash on the figures. If you don't want the figures don't buy them. But you have no right to demand the free DLC that came with figures just because you want it.
Stop pretending to be confused by simple marketing techniques that have been used by hundreds of companies to sell toys over the years just because you are throwing a tantrum because the people who buy the figures get something you can't have.
You surely understand it you just don't want to.
