I propose Pepe le Pew. The quintessential charming French character. He's smooth, suave, sophisticated and 100% awesome. He'll make a great Orlesian Companion character.
And his cartooniness fits the new art style.

Seriously though, French cinema is full of great characters. Let the writers watch some French movies (if need be with subtitles -
not dubbed) and let their imagination go with it. Same goes for French (and Belgian) graphic novels.

(Chevalier de Fronsac, Pacte des Loups)

Sylvia, Papal agent. Now, she's a 'bard' as an Orlesian bard should be

.

Comte Geoffroy de Peyrac (Angelique movies). Now that's how you do smouldering and brooding.
The kind of dude who leaves his enemy bound to the mast of a burning, sinking ship, because nobody touches his wife and lives^_^.
That's probably also what he would do to Fenris, but that would probably not require any compelling reason.

Comte Godefroy de Montmirail (Les Visiteurs). The Prince of Tactful diplomacy:P

Comte Savinien de Kerfadec (Chouans!; the ever-great Philippe Noiret)
World-weary, wise, witty and kind. Also, very intellectual (same with de Fronsac and de Peyrac, ironically. French seem to envisage their aristocrats as well-educated and intelligent men of action, rather than foppish and stupid).

Francois Vatel (Gerard Depardieu, 'Vatel'), the incredibly energetic and intelligent super-chef and entertainment organiser in chief.
Slightly emo, because he reputedly killed himself because the fish was too late for the visiting Louis XIV's dinner.
Funny detail: He was actually Swiss-German by descent (area of Zurich).

Moliere, as played by Romain Duris in the movie of the same name. Charming and very funny, but also serious.

Benoit Poelvoorde as 'Ben' in C'est arrivé pres de chez vous, the nicest French-speaking (Belgian, in this case) assassin you could meet.

. He can be extremely vile and violent, but oh, the wit:lol:

Eloïse d'Artagnan (La fille d'Artagnan), daughter of you-know-who.
Daddy dearest was killed in the Netherlands by the way, in the siege of Maastricht.
Either that or Dutch cheese did not agree with him

Adele Blanc-sec ('Isabella Avondrood' for the Dutchies among us) from the comics by Jacques Tardi.
Haven't seen the movie yet, but this picture says it all I think:

And of course any character played by Audrey Tautou.

Naturellement also the eponymous characters as portrayed in The Three Musketeers and The Four Musketeers directed by Richard Lester. Forget about crappy cheap American remakes.
And could we have a Rochefort-esque villain / evil companion a la Christoper Lee?

Oh, and while not suitable as a playable Companion character, I would really love the Divine to turn out to be sort of a female Richelieu. I've had it with wise kindly elderly grandmotherly figures and crazed fanatic crackpots.
It's time for amoral sophisticated pragmatism!:innocent:
