Ok.  I'm going to bow to my temptation and a scant few personal requests and so present a few more potential images as Orlesians.

Rimbaud: another gay poet, like genet, except unlike genet, rimbaud was shot at by his boyfriend verlaine.  rimbaud escaped with a wound and became an explorer (and died a slave trader).

 https://encrypted-tb...2lsTvHVxUiMobeA

Mylene Farmer: she is a modern pop performer, who unlike Madonna writes her own lyrics and music -- she has a predilection to take younger women under her wing who invariably blossom due to her influence.

https://encrypted-tb...76SVYL-V6NGjV_Q

Eliphas Levi (aka: Alphonse Louis Constant): he was a sorcerer well known for his books and treatises on magic and alchemy.

https://encrypted-tb...k_LGoBrHXo4KVw

Rachilde: a powerful writer and not just of erotica, Rachilde sought to write about transexuality as a normative and human variety and preferred to dress as a man in public.  she would call herself a werewolf at times but her true nature was as a gentleman and a playwright.  all the same, she did not deny that she was born a woman.

And here is Michel Foucault.  Foucault perished of HIV related conditions.  He is one of many philosophers of recent interest from France, although he is the one to place history as a strong focus in his works.  Foucault was survived by his close friend, Herve Guibert.  The main drive of Foucault's theories is that modern thought is no different from ancient thought and the survival of discursive elements from ancient times poses a strong persuasive power in all we consider.  He began suggesting modes of governing that might bear fruit -- although this modes are seen as requiring much detailing and definition.

I'd like a variety, but there should definitely be a few flamboyant arrogant ones like the ones from MotA, just for the laughs. I'm kinda hoping are new PC will come from the Ferelden area just for the culture shock lol.

It is gratifying to see the meticulous care and subtle attention to detail Bioware put into its worldbuilding.

Orlesians: Foppy French and semi-evil. The only good Orlesian is a dead Orlesian, a Ferelden by birth raised in Orlais
(Leliana, Riordan) or an Orlesian raised in Ferelden (Avelline).

Antivans: Italo-Russian Mafiosi
Rivainis: Vaguely Hispanic pirates and criminals, though the women are sexy, rrrrrawrrrr:devil:

Tevinters: Vaguely Graeco-Italian slavers and sadists.

Fereldens: Freedom-loving and mostly decent Anglo-Americans.

Hmmm…I really wonder who designed this world? Certainly not a bunch of Anglos from Canada…

And yes, I know it’s a bit more nuanced than that. But there’s something decidedly…uncomfortable about the way they have characterized the different nations so far.
It has the subtlety of a British soccer hooligan on holiday in France.<_<

Hopefully that will change in future installments in the series.

I am just upset that none of the countries were based on Slavic countries...XD
I demand a Polish/Russian based country!

Well... you could join us Germans in Anderfels. Being a devout, grim warrior living in a grim country being grim and devout all day long! Sounds like fun, doesn't it?

So... where is my cross pattée tabard and my horned helmet?

Anderfels does seem Teutonic maybe mixed with a bit of Scandanavian?

I think Lord Foreshadow should appear. His voice is needed in this matter.

And also keep in mind Dame Darcy (author of Meatcake comic books) and Karimouche (who has an official channel on Youtube for her music videos) with her song Ché pas c'ke j'veux especial!

I can't stand the accents so I'm hoping Orlais will just be the starting area and not where we're stuck for the entire game.

I kinda want an Orliesian Alienage elf. The accent could be toned down and we've never had a city elf for a companion.

Zevran qualified as a city elf, did he not?

Zevran was raised by humans outside an alienage.  He was mostly a Crow and an Antivan.  While Fenris didn't remember ever living with Elves.

So I wouldn't really say they counted as city elf companions.

Being a City Elf doesn't require you to live in an Alienage or remember how you grew up -- though Fenris does say to Merrill that he lived the life of a City Elf, meaning he remembers it.

Being a City Elf just requires you to have lived in a city for your life and not with the Dalish.

I guess this is a semantic argument. Possibly one which might happen in universe - I get the impression elves could spend a lot of time arguing over who is more elfy than who - but not very productive.

We've never had an Alienage Elf as a companion, anyway.

Actually, the Antivans speak Spanish words and have Spanish accents (like Zevran and Feynriel's father), and the Rivani are black (like Isabela).

Ok Bioware please, pretty please, do not try to redeem the Orlesian nobility. They're scum let them stay that way. Trying to make them seem not so bad right now would be like trying to make the Empire look good in Return of the Jedi, not saying it can't be done, but it's probably gonna come across as forced and unbelievable.

All Orlesians should be foppish, and conspiring secretly against Ferelden because Loghain was right all along... it turns out the ORLESIANS ARE BEHIND THE DARKSPAWN! WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ATTACKING ORLAIS INSTEAD OF WASTING TIME WITH THE ARCHDEMON!

The elves do exactly that, as shown in Origins.  The Dalish look down on their city elf kin generally.  Notice that they call them their "Flat-eared cousins"?  They see their city-dwelling kin as being lost: they'll never be human, but they're so far removed from their own history and culture that they can't truly be considered elves.  And of course the city elves often grow up in environments that talk endlessly of the barbarity of the Dalish, so much so that many city elves are actually AFRAID of Dalish elves.

Some City Elves tend to call City Elves that leave the Alienage and have their own homes as "ceasing to be truly Elves anymore" as well.

It seems that Elves really are egotistical sons of ****es, barring a few exceptions.
