Critics: 95-98 Mostly citing improved combat, visuals, storyline, etc.
Users: 2.0- 4.0 Mostly ****ing about Origin. Then BSN will begin threads about how much of a failure the game was.

95-96.

With all I've seen I'm pretty sure it's a much better game than ME2.

96-98, Why? Because Batman AC gets that score and also Skyrim, so i think ME3 as final ME is too ''important'' to go below that...

This is the problem I have with professional reviews.  The scale may be from 1-100, but for AAA releases from big companies it's basically 75-100.  So 80 is almost an average game, 90 is good/great and anything 95/96 or up is outstanding.

I mean honestly if I saw a big name title get 70 I'd assume it was trash, when that should be the score for an average/decent game.

Why should 70 mean average/decent? If I had got that on a paper in school it would have meant something more like "barely adequate."

More importantly, who cares how the scores are calibrated as long as we all know what they mean?

You mean just like how Mass Effect 2 got such incredibly low ratings, am I right? Oh wait....that didn't happen.

In school 60 was a 'D' below average but minimum to pass, 70 was a 'C' average.  80 was a 'B' good, and 90 was an 'A' excellent.

As far as the scale, if a game s a bad game give it what it deserves a 50 or a 60 or whatever.  Don't truncate the scale to avoid embassasing the company on a AAA title.  You give those scores to smaller games, give them to the so called blockbuster games too.  Shouldn't be two different scales.

Right. I consider a C to be a crappy grade. YMMV.

Sure; I'm not defending different scales. The indie stuff should be on the same scale as the AAA stuff. OTOH, that could mean bad scores for indie games anyway if the reviewer cares about VO quality, flashy graphics, and so forth.

Nope.

I don't know who your psychanalyst is, but contrary to popular belief, laughing hysterically is actually a sign of hysteria, rather than being right.

If that didn't happen with ME2 then it won't happen with ME3.

Now being the absolute fanboy that I am, I'd hope for a complete 100%, but let's be realistic here. The first game got a 94 and the sequel got a 96 (if memory serves). I'm reckoning it'll at least get over 95%.

ME2 had some big changes, but there are some drastic shifts in tone and priorities with ME3. I don't think it will score that poorly, but with users it sure might.

It won't get less than 90. I want it to get more, to honestly earn more than that. I hope it will. But there is no denying Bioware/EA has become a darling among the media, and I've seen enough biased reviews of DA2 to make me lose all faith.

I think ME2 is one of the highest rated metacritic games of all time, and I'm sorry, but it aint all that.

Over 90.01? That's realistic.

www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/mass-effect-2

Right now, ME2 (for 360) has a user rating on Metacrtiic of 9.0 from over 2000 ratings. By that site's standards, that's incredibly high. That's even higher than games like Skyrim or Batman: Arkham City, and could very well be the highest for an AAA title. Aside from PC users angry over Origin, I don't see how ME3 could possibly get the low user reviews some people here think it will, especially since ME2 already made big changes which most users accepted.

92. ME2 was an outlier, so you'd expect some reversion to the mean. But the series has goodwill going for it for the finale, and they've got a solid base for the gameplay so I'd still expect a couple of points above the Bioware average

Official: From 85 to 95.

The bunch of fanboys and haters that rate game according to it's name or after 5 min of gameplay (A shame that only a few decide to review a game as it should be): 56

Even so, if the game gets something less than 90, it will be considered a dissapointment. Something that always happens with the last game of a big trilogy, so there is no surprise here.
