But Varric more than makes up for it!
Oh, and Alistair. But he's in Fereldan, being all kingly, and making my Warden happy, so I'll forgive him.

Well played, sir!
As a small update, I will say that this feeling was completely replaced by disappointment when I played into the game a bit, and got a driver fault in the first fight in the "real" prologue.devSin wrote...
I installed the game recently, getting ready for a possible run of BioWare games this year, and I admit I felt a little tinge of excitement when firing it up to mess with all the settings.
So apparently the game still doesn't work at full DX11 settings on 5800-series AMD cards with 11.12 drivers (I think 11.9, meaning September 2011, was when it stopped working)? I guess I won't be playing again anytime soon after all...

As someone with Mobility HD 6990s, AMD/ATI drivers generally suck - you have no idea what a disaster the 11.12 drivers were. In the Alienware notebooks forums that I frequent, everyone pretty much got BSODs thanks to the stupid driver package. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the problems are on AMD's end and their drivers. I'm currently running with more recent updated beta drivers by Dell specifically for my system (and thankfully, they work well). I'm avoiding the ones directly from AMD unless 12.1-plus actually solves more problems than they create - albeit I'm letting others serve as guinea pigs first on those one they actually have a solid release version of the drivers.

I had stopped playing by the time MotA was released (which was near the 11.9 update and when people started mentioning the DX11 crashes), and I had stupidly assumed that it would be fixed if I let it alone for a few months.
If it's not fixed for the expansion, Andreas better find a workaround. I don't want to have to roll back to 11.8 or earlier just to play DA2 (ME and Origins work fine on latest drivers, and ME3 will run splendidly no doubt, but DA2 of course has to make it even harder to want to play).

Thanks for the love, katiebour (and others)! It's a game that I happen to like a lot, myself. Sure, i could, like some of your detractors here, point out what I didn't like about the game, but you took the time and effort to make a rather generous post of support and joy, and for that, I thank you.

What? Expressing a view contrary to the OP in this thread will get us banned?

Why is it that everytime we want to enjoy something, there's always a party pooper around?
Because DA 2 is one of the most, if not the most, disappointing games in years. Whenever a thread is posted that talks about it being a good game, you can be sure there will be posts contradicting a positive statement. People want to make sure that Bioware/EA knows DA 2 was several steps in the wrong direction.
STOP IT! We already know you people hate this game. But for the REAL fans like us who don't mind these flaws, it is quite insulting and embarassing to see people like you coming over and over, all to spit out your hatred every frigging time someone wants to say something positive about this game. Dragon Age II has its fans and has its anti-fans, I don't care if you hate it, but let the REAL fans love it peacefully and stop harassing us! You're a real pain in the ass. Geez!
Edit: Bioware seriously needs to hire more moderators...
That is really insulting and not even close to the truth. I was neither harrassing nor belittling you.
If I was not a true fan, do you think I would bother coming onto the forums and letting my opinions (either positive or negative) be known? I and anyone else has just as much right to intelligently and non-insultingly come onto to these forums and give our feedback. For some games, I've had good feedback. I've had tremendously positive feedback for others. And for others, yeah, I've had negative feedback.
If you enjoyed the game, I'm glad for you. I won't claim you're not a real fan of roleplaying or tremendous graphics or challenging gameplay if you enjoyed DA 2 simply because your opinion differs from mine.
I expect the same kind of respect in return.

It most certainly does. Bioware has heard every possible criticism of DA2 multiple times already, so anything anyone says now is redundant. I don't care if people complain, but attempting to justifying it by claiming bioware needs to hear it is just annoying.Shevy_001 wrote...
Time for constructive criticism never passes.
The fact is there are people who've just tried the game and want to put in their two cents as well. You can't fault them for that. Had the game been better received, then you would have been exposed to less negative feedback.

Ha, that's a laugh. ME2 is Bioware's highest rated game of all time and people are still whining about things. The same things. Over and over and over again. Things that Bioware has flat out said are going to remain the same for ME3. Things that aren't going to change no matter how much they post about it.
No, the BSN is just filled with people who like to complain about stuff.

The BSN is a lovely place full of gentleness and harmony compared to the WoW forum I visited regularly before I quit two years ago.
I'm here because I really like the DA universe, but DA II was a huge letdown for me. So I participate in the discussions here giving my opinion which isn't overly positive.
So it's kinda unfair to entitle us as whiners and no REAL fans. ( Yes, I'm looking at you Teddie) We are fans like everyone else around here, only with a different opinion on DA II. I respect yours and am glad, that you enjoyed it, but I wish that you treat us with the same respect, when we're giving feedback without hatred.
Yes, I don't know if it makes sense anymore to give feedback on different aspects of the game. No one knows, except the devs. But I have faith in them listening and deciding on various feedback what they think will fit best in a future installment. I can only wait and see, then decide to support their attempt or not. But until then, I'll share my mind.
Greetings.

So I participate in the discussions here giving my opinion which isn't overly positive.I never insulted another poster or even the devs, because I think that they had great concepts for DA II and tried to do the best in development with the given limitations. That said, I only blame them for the information politic before launch here. I expected DA II to be different as it was, even with all the announced changes. And I sucked off every bit of information, chatted with Mike personally ( which is defintily superb! here).

I never stated my opinion on DA2. Hell, I haven't even got to the Deep Roads expedition yet. I stated my opinion on the BSN, specifically that its full of people who like to complain about stuff. It doesn't matter how good the game is, how well the fans/critics received it, what Bioware says about a particular topic or anything else. There will always be a significant group of people complaining about it. Over and over again. It is almost comforting in its regularity. Its like Old Faithful. You can always count on someone on the BSN to be whining about something somewhere. Not to say you are whining, of course. I didn't even bother to read your post. The game has been out for so long that every bit of praise or criticism has been said and, supposedly, well documented by the devs. Its all old hat by now. And, honestly, none of it really matters. At the end of the day, Bioware is most likely going to do what they want with their game (As is their right) and then we'll decide if we want to support their decisions by purchasing the game (As is our right).
Edit: And yes, I am well aware of the hypocracy of complaining about complainers. Remember, someone here is complaining about something somewhere at all times. There are no exceptions.

I really appreciated your work on DA2 and its DLCs. It was very evident that you guys and gals love your work and love creating content in this universe, and I really enjoyed the humour and details that you come up with (especially in MoTA!).

I love reading about people complaining about the BioWare forums.
I find myself wondering if they have ever seen other game forums or parts of the internet?
The biggest implosion of a forums I have ever seen is the C&C forums before, during and after C&C4.
You think you've seen bad here....

We need some more positivety here.
And I must admit, I did enjoy DA2 a bit. And for what it was. Not sure why I got so hateful of the game after a while though...

I recently bought my own copy, when I had been inspired to give it another try by discussions in this place and patched and in combiantion with the outstanding DLC's it has become one of my favourite games at the moment.
I understand that the development team has taken quite a risk by making so many changes to the franchise and though, in my opinion, they have not succeeded in every detail, I think the general direction they have taken with it is promising and it leads to a gaming experience, that to me is one of the best I ever had.
Thank you!
