Reminds me of the way my dad messed with my head when I was a kid, in fact I still take anything he says with a grain of salt because he loves to mess with people, once a year or two he gets me on something.  (Never on anything that crazy though)

I believed that there were "good" pure people in the world.

I was wrong. Everyone has a dark-side, without exception.

I believed I could control the weather if I concentrated really hard on it.
My brother convinced me that people wearing white socks were actually all sexual predators.

I'll only list a few. I had a very active imagination that inspired many a "crazy belief".

I believed miniature people hid in radios. One day I cracked one open to check. What a disappointment that was.

I believed if I kept any ol' egg from a store warm enough for long enough, a chick would hatch from it.

I believed I could perform superhuman feats of agility like my favorite fictional characters. Accruing scars did nothing to deter me. I just thought I needed more practice and tried again. One time my parents found me on the roof of our old house getting ready to leap to my death. I wasn't suicidal. I simply believed falling from that height couldn't hurt me. I had no fear as a child.

Good times... :) Being an adult is so dull.

Anyone else believe they could use the force if they concentrated hard enough? I must of spent 100s of hours trying to use the force without success.

I was terrified of the banshee.

I believed that I was perfectly capable of winning fights against multiple opponents. Failing to beat up two people never stopped me, I went all the way up to six before I realised the error of my ways.

I'm not sure where I got the idea that fences were designed exclusively for high speed collisions with my bike and that the proper way to stop involved me and the bike parting ways, often ending with me on one side of the fence and the bike on the other.

When i saw Ghostbusters II with that creepy ass ghost that takes the baby away i believed it would come and get me and i was always scared to look at my window at night in case it was there.

I believed i was immortal and that i would live forever.

I believed fairies were real and often tried to sneak up on them when playing in some fields near my house. I never caught them though.

I could see lights at night walking near the beach and believed it was France and i wanted to swim there. It was just an island lol.

I also remember watching the news about a local rape when i was a kid and the news reader said girls should be weary when walking alone and i misheard "rape" as "rake" so when i was alone walking to the corner shop i would run like crazy there and back worried a man with a huge rake would come and get me.

That freaked me the hell out. But the original had worse scenes like that old woman in the library and the hands coming up from the sofa. For some reason the worst was the Bogeyman from the cartoon, for some reason I believed he lived in the hills of Donegal and any time we went there I was terrified.

 at the rakist.

That ultimately, love was all that mattered between two people.

Also that flies could see into the future, thus making them impossible to swat. It made perfect sense!

As a kid I had believed all cartoons were for kids and that life was easy, then I saw Barefoot Gen at age 6... and now that I am older it helped me to realized just how important human life is.

That reminds me, I read a lot of books and saw a lot of tv and films that I probably shouldn't have as a kid, and probably influenced me as an adult.

Crazy beliefs?

God is real. Love can be everlasting. Friends couldn't betray you. There were many people worthy of your time.

People are not inherently worthy of trust or respect, they must earn it.

Oh wait, I still believe that...

It depends.

Sometime being nice pays off in ceartin respects over time.

Being a selfish **** tends to pay off faster and in more ways.
