A lot of insane things, a few of which are:
- Vampires, and that they could survive in daylight if they were wearing sunglasses
- Bruce Lee died from eating a poisoned chocolate chip cookie (the poison was in a green chocolate chip)
- Electricity was generated by power stations being hit by lightning and storing the electricity in giant batteries which ran a city's power supply
- Buck Rogers was set in the same universe as Star Wars
- Poison was green and so were vegetables, therefore vegetables were poisonous

That false teeth came from dead people. I couldn’t look an old person in the face without being grossed out and wondering whose teeth they were sporting.

I used to be a liberal, then I grew up and abandoned such insane ideas.

You were part of a political party when you were a kid?
Thats the insane part.

What's weird about having political opinions as a kid? Did you grow up with a hermit or something?

Mostly the fact that politics tend to be the antithesis of enjoyment for a child.

So? Religion is too, but me and my classmates got into fights about it(and politics) all the time. Though half of us were probably just thoughtlessly regurgitating our parent's views.

I'm saying that's a reason why it might be thought of as "weird" for a kid to be interested in politics. You asked.

That having my foot dangle over my bed without being covered by a blanket would get it eaten.

I still make sure my feet are safely wrapped in the blankets as a habit today, regardless of how hot it is in my bedroom.

- That making friends is easy, yeah right.
- Being a nice person is important. Now, I'm an **** when I feel like it.
- I used to believe that life is fair.
- I used to be an optimist.

as a kid i used to believe that good would always triumph over evil, and that even when evil won, good would eventually right what was wronged. I used to believe time told no lies and you couldnt hide the truth forever.

I used to believe when the time came to take a stand, good people would rise up and fight. I used to believe in heroes. I used to believe as long as you were a good person, misfortune would never befall you, and if it did, you would always make it through to the other side.

I used to believe that the world was fair, that is was ran by good people who did good things so that everybody around them could be happy. I used to believe if you worked hard and persevered, you could be anything in life.

I wish I could still believe in all that.

I used to believe:
- in the existence of god, afterlife, etc.
- that life is fair
- that leaders are altruistic
- that a woman will become pregnant just by getting kissed by a man

The craziest things I believed in?

The god of Abraham.

Santa Claus.

Saint Nicholas (celebrated on the 6th of december).

The Tooth Fairy.

Dragons. Actually "Balaur" or "Balauri" in Romanian. Not really a dragon as much as a dragon-like creature as I imagined it.

Dwarves. In the mythical sense. Back then there was no distinction between the dwarves in the stories I heard and Santa's little helpers. Elf=dwarf. It probably didn't help that there was a guy with dwarfism living in a block next to mine. Every time I saw him my faith in Santa was renewed.

And really all of these things I "knew". Belief and knowledge was the same thing back then. Saying that I believed in Santa was like saying I knew that Santa existed.

I blame my parents.

PS: I omitted the sexual related stuff.

I believed that everyone was speaking the same language as me. Wich led to this fateful day when I learned that it wasn't true. But I couldn't let it go ! I found it so stupid that the world would bother to use different languages, so I kept asking everyone. I even asked a priest what was god's language, thinking it would probably be the right one for everyone. Thinking back, it was really funny to see him struggling.

I thought that when the TV was off, the whole thing was stopped, every show was on stand by and of course, that they restarted just for me when I turned the TV on. And that for every TV, there was a whole world on stand by, waiting for people to turn it on.
A sad day indeed when my mom told me that the show I wanted to see was already over.

Speaking of TV, I thought that the History channel was about history. Well, that's not crazy. But the channel is.

Not really a belief, more of a misunderstanding, but, I used to think hand made literally meant you made something by hand. Meaning, no tolls, you just used friction to carve the wood, I had a handmade bed, I can remember moving my hand back and forth across it trying to wrap my head around how long it would take to make something "by hand".

I used to believe that my Grandad was the creator of Postman Pat and Rosie & Jim, they both shared the same name John Cunliffe.

When my Grandad died, i used to believe he was the brightest star in the sky and that he was watching over me. I used to think one day he would come down and take me away to be with him like in The Little Match Girl story.

I also believed i had seen a Fairy, i was looking out my door and i saw a light fly across the garden no more than a few feet away. I imagine what i really saw was a Glow-worm but at the time i was convinced it was a fairy.

I used to think that there was an animal called "genuine" and you probably get the idea (genuine leather...).
