Has everyone simply forgotten about neural shock...?

I didn't even know that worked.  I hardly ever use Kaidan on the squad, and I haven't used a Shep with the ability.

I played as a sentinel in my last ME 1 playthrough and let me tell you that neural shock ability came in very handy whenever an angry krogan was about to bear down on me.  Also Kaidan is alot more useful in ME 1 than people give him credit for.

You've got to be dense if it makes more sense to run into gunfire to punch someone while being chased by zombies and have to do it twelve times. Real dense. If you have no grenades or the upgrades and you don't kill the colonists you're taking unnecessary risks which makes no sense. Besides you're a spectre who cares what you do, you answer to no one, so kill all the people you can and bathe in their blood!

Then it is your fault for not being prepared.  One would assume that an elite special forces marine as well as being a spectre would be prepared.  And the council would prefer that spectres still use common sense they are just given extra liberties to eliminate the red tape and take drastic matter only when necessary.  The council is pretty damn careful about who they make into spectres.

Can't, used them on the robots upstairs, you know the ones I planned to kill when I got here. This was an unknown variable that came up int he middle of a mission and did what was expected of me, I adapted to the situation. The best solution was to shoot s**t until everything stopped moving and remove the big threat that was beneath the colony.

Things change, a part of life.

Sounds like complacency to me.

So?

It doesn't take much to realize that the geth are a bigger threat than the colonists (if they weren't, then the colonists wouldn't have problems with keeping them at bay, or even root them out themselves), and if they can be dealt with, then so can the colonists.

With this mentality, Shepard might as well shoot the Council, C-Sec, Anderson, every Krogan, Salarian, Asari, Drell, human (etc) soldier.

Then shoot himself.  This is a ridiculous rationale.  Killing something because it could be dangerous isn't even a slippery slope.  It's a fraking sheer cliff-face.

Also, in your quarantine argument, the non-psychotic-maniac option would be to keep the civilian in the quarantine zone.

Not to mention that Cerberus should be added to that list.

If there's no reason to cooperate with someone because they might be dangerous, then literally everyone should be considered a threat.

Exactly my point.  Even my rengade Shep didn't kill the colonists. He's a pragmatist, but he's not stupid.  When given a weapon designed to counter a mind-controlling giant plant's spores made by the same company that has been studying said giant plant for a while, he will use it.

Also, who else would he go to for cash-money for his efforts on sidequests?

I've never met her.

Obviously you didn't adapt very well if you felt the need to kill the colonists.  The gas grenades are given to you either way you just chose not to use them.  And since feros was a human colony you knew that civilians would be there even before you go there.  alliance marines are trained to adjust to changing circumstances and they are trained to minimize civilian casualties.

Who said it makes more sense? Step your reading comprehension up a notch buddy.

When you quote a comment it means the following comment is in reference to the previous one. So by saying method b works when I suggested use of Method A implies that you prefer it. The comment which followed yours was to point out how ridiculous it is in comparison. Did you comprehend that?

A good point here that a lot of people miss: Unless you've read ahead or have been to Virmire before Noveria (or played through multiple times), there's almost no evidence that the Rachni were indoctrinated, besides a mention of a "oily black song/note" from the asari meatpuppet. Not only could that line hold little weight (since it could have been saying anything just to get you to spare its life), but any information on indoctrination at that point in the game points to Saren as the source, who obviously wasn't around a millenia ago to indoctrinate the Rachni. At least in my game, since I did Virmire last, Shepard didn't even know that Sovereign was a Reaper (or what reapers were, for that matter).

Off to the gas/acid chamber with the dangerous H.R. Giger creature then.

The person who gives Shepard the grenades never worked for Exogeni, let alone knew what a Thorian even was prior to hearing about it a minute before then.

Umm I did adapt and that meant in this situation that adaptation resulted in death. If it were a hostage situation with stealth mechanics, I would've tried that. But the option was shoot or bomb. I used the bombs before I got there. They were shooting so my options were gone, it became kill or be killed and I planned on walking out, so the shooters died. Sad, well not really, but a resolution none the less. Look at it this way, they're no longer in danger.

No! they're real colonists with little colonists kids in colonist little league. Suzy the colonist has a book club meeting on tuesdays and her husband colonist Jeff works at the water pipe factory. These are people, with lives and history, you can't gun them down like they're just collections of pixels on a screen.

It's actually bit different if Jeong lives.  While you're dealing with him, Lizbeth explains what the thorian is to her mother, which gives her the idea to try the gas. It's still an untested idea, of course, but the conversation makes much more sense.  Also: yes, she did work for Exogeni.  She just didn't have thorian clearance.

I'm sure they were just pixels. You can't just shoot people and they die. At least I don't think that that's how it works. I should probably try it out just to be sure.:D

Well once again it is your fault for wasting your resources.  It is like using up all of your heavy weapon ammo before hitting the colossus on haestrom.  Besides when you get back to Zus Hope there is a box with grenades near the entrance so the game helps you out if you aren't prepared.  And how the hell can you not feel bad about it?  It isn't like you were killing scumbag mercs, you were shooting civilians that were being enslaved by the thorian.

Lolwut? No....

I'm saying that unless you did Virmire prior to Noveria, there's no evidence to connect the dots that the Rachni were indoctrinated (hence why they "became" violent) by some giant race of machine-gods. There's nothing to suggest that they're inherently peaceful and were only killing everyone because something made them do it. The only evidence you have is that the rachni wars happened thousands of years ago because some Salarians stepped into a bee's nest and the "bees" started killing everything (also, it's mentioned that the rachni are extremely territorial) and it took quite a bit to stop them. That pretty much fits the danger-to-the-galactic-community standard that warrents their elimination.

In other words, I'm defending the renegade option of killing the queen as it's a sensible decision given the information had at the time, not "using Saren as a counterpoint". I don't know where that came from.
