Hello :)

First off, should I be using all activated modes?

Ie: Precise striking on tanks, in addition to the more obvious threaten and shield wall?

What combination of precise striking, momentum ,and dual-strking should I use on my dual-wield warrior? So far I've found that running with as much off as possible allows me to get in more AoE moves, at least until I spec up to the stamina for kills talent.

Precise striking is largely unnecessary. I never run threaten either, just use taunt to get the aggro, although I suppose it may come in handy in some boss fights to keep it on.

For dual wielders momentum is all you need. Dual-striking seems bugged and not contributing to dps at the moment, although I'm not really sure what's up with that talent. Definitely not working as advertised though. Just stick to momentum, and spam dual sweep on groups.

Also, you will be very disappointed with death blow.

Thanks. I'll try running without threaten; haven't had much aggro trouble on this playthrough and some more stamina for damage can't hurt on my tank.

I'll give just momentum a shot. I hate talents that cause you to give up regular critical hits, but some on the forums have said dual-strking is quite powerful.

I had Shield Wall on 24/7 after getting Shield Expertise. Being immune to knockdown is worth every point of stamina in my opinion.

Not that I've played enough to really know, and I certainly haven't done experiments on it, but my impression is that my guy started hitting significantly harder when I went to Dual Striking.

Precise striking adds a huge amount of critical though, so I can't imagine why you wouldn't want to activate it.

precise is:

-damage

-attack speed

+crit

+attack

personal pref, really.. I only use it on dual wield toons and forgo it entirely on the rest.

Oddly, I never went with it on my DW warrior 0_o Got it on my current 2 hander though.

26% crit rate + Starfang + haste + blood thirst = Tasty :D

As I didn't really address your question, here it is:

I've heard good things about dual-striking, though this really depends on your crit rate and modifiers. My warrior had close to 30% crit rate on either hand come the end of the game (running with leliana). Coupled with momentum, he was critting A LOT, and this was even before blood thirst (which again, adds an insane amount of critical and speed at the cost of health). I couldn't say how well dual-striking works out with a nice amount of speed, but I can't imagine that the loss of criticals are worth the extra raw damage it provides, especially when you hit a high percentage.

On another note, try not to have sustains activated all the time. Start out the fight with a high damage skill, then immediately after it hits, activate a sustainable (make the most of that stamina)...rinse and repeat. Certain sustains (like precise striking) actually have a very short animation and don't reset the swing timer, so as long as you activate it between swings, you won't be losing out on damage. As for sustainables, I'd highly recommend running with precise striking and momentum, and quite possibly blood thirst for the extra crit and speed (pretty sure it's only haste/momentum that's bugged).

On a side note, if anyone knows of dual-striking being useful late game, I'd love to hear about it.
