Hey i went back to finish off Mass Effect 2 only to find my save file no longer there (Lent console to older siblings). Luckily i still had my ME1 save file so i imported her. The Problem i am is this:

I have recurited:
Jack
Samara
Garrus
Grunt
Tali
and Obviously Miranda and Jacob

Now i cant get to recruit the assassin, because the illusive man wants me to go to the Collectors Base. I have done Jacobs Loyalty Mission.

Im just wondering if i go now and do that, they next mission is it also based on how many 'Missions/Timed By Quests.'

So i can get All recruited and i can get there Loyalty Missions done before i have to do the last Mission where they could all die which i dont want because of ME3

Any help/reassurance on after this bit its all yours and your choice on when to go etc

You say base but I think you mean the Collector ship, yes? (The base is the end game mission) The next plot mission after the ship you'll get to decide when to do it, so no worries.

After you do that plot point however, an "x amount of missions" scripted event will occur and how soon you finish the game after that matters.

Yeah sorry i mean ship, i cant believe i typoed my own thread once again ;;;

So i can do this get the IM off my back and then do what i want (Thane + N7 + Loyalty Missions) until i decide to do the next plot mission afterwards and then i have only a margin of time to save the crew?

Yep.

I wasn't a fan of the whole "you must do this now, no choice" stuff. But yeah, after the ship you can do whatever you like.

Okay so you mean ship or the base thing? Or if it is base how many missions is it till im forced to do the next plot driven quest? Sorry if im not getting it, i too am not a fan of this 'do it now or you cant do anything at all'

A few missions after the ship they'll tell you that the next plot mission is ready but you can complete it whenever you want.

Actually they will tell you the next plot mission is available directly after the Collector ship during the debriefing. You are then given the option to continue building your crew or go to the next plot mission which initiates a mission counter based system to effect your crew. Once you do the Collector Ship mission or sometimes called the Collector Trap mission you can do what you want for as long as you want as long as you stay away from the next plot item.
