I just received my online subscription to Xbox World Magazine's March edition and there's a new article on ME3. The article has a few interesting facts but nothing really ground breaking.

1) The flowchart that contains all the imported data from your ME1 and ME2 data is remarkably complex and just mind staggering.

2) Cutscenes are drastically affected by your past decisions and narrative.

- The article describes an example of two seperate motion-captured animations for a cutscene were Ashley is seriously injured and if Shepard romanced her in ME1 he'll actually pick her up very "tenderly" as apposed to picking her up in a more "professional" manner.

3) The Galaxy at War system will consist of in-game content, multiplayer, facebook, iOS apps, iPhone, iPad and other social games.

4) Shepard's mission is to essentially to rally and unite all the Galaxy's alien races and to acquire as many war assets as possible to help defeat the Reaper's in the end game.

-"It's a war story, so it's really all about getting people behind you - fleets, armies, important individuals... the better your assets, the more successful you'll be as you pursue that end-game."

5) Planet scanning and mineral mining is essentially replaced with a "Search and Rescue mechanic," , where you can explore the conflict zones for any survivors.

6) Ashley/Kaidan is "a focal point for ME3" and is still some what suspicious of Shepard's involvement with Cerberus and the Illusive Man.

7) If the Council died in ME1, they'll be reluctant to help Earth when Shepard first arrives.

8) Cerberus has done some serious experimentation with Reaper / Collector / Human technology and the Illusive Man will "look more kindly upon you if you carried out his wishes" i.e., saved the Collector base; where as Ashley/Kaidan will not.

9) On Mars, the Cerberus troops arrived before you and are in the process of "executing" the Prothean research facility staff. You'll also fight them in contamination rooms, darkened areas, and mono-rail trains.

10) Everything in multiplayer from the character builds, customization, weapons, biotic, tech and ammo powers, feel balanced. The audio is also very impressive.

11) Shepard will travel from Earth then to Mars then to the Citadel.

12) The movement system is very refined, smooth and more "free-flowing"

13) Enemies will actively "flank, charge, retreat and co-ordinate their attacks"

14) The difficultly has been increased via better enemy AI and level design

March 6th, can't come soon enough.

-Hawk

That's what I want to see more than anything at this point. Some impact and subtlety based on past actions or inaction.

Thanks for the the info.

Better enemy AI is good. Hopefully that means the squadmate AI is equally improved. No more standing in the open begging to be shot!

What does this mean? You will get in-game content from all of those, or?

Ugh. Facebook made its way into ME3. I hate how I will have to do stupid social games to complete all of ME3.

It just means the Galaxy at War ties into each of those platforms. Whether using those other things nets you in-game content I can't say.

The more I hear about this game the more I want it. Trying to play the other two mass effect games to take the edge off but of course playing them makes me want it more.

What bothers me is the fact that it feels very railroaded, even more so than ME2. You don't have a choice but must go to two places at the beginning of the game. Not a choice of going to other planets that may need your help, but straight to Mars and the Citadel... jerks.

So just like in ME1 and 2, where you have to do stuff at the beginning before being free to do what you want.

And considering from the info so far Mars and Citadel are very important, so it makes sense.

ME1 was (start on Normandy) Eden Prime, then the Citadel

ME2 was (start on TIM station) meet TIM, then Freedom's Progress

ME3 seems to follow the same formula

You're assuming that you have to use facebook to get a "complete" Mass Effect 3 experience.

Looks like the Paragon favoritism is back in full force... it'll be interesting to see how they'll make "Tim looking kindly" work when they're one of the major enemies of the game...

Problem is that Reapers already attack Earth in the very beginning. If we waste any time trying to gather resources from a group of people unwilling to compromise and comply than we suffer from it. We need to gather our allies immediately or we could potentially lose Earth. Getting allies who will commit to us right away compared to those that we can get rejected by over long range communication seems to be the most productive act to me.

And what if the council is full of humans, wouldn't they be more likely to help Earth?

Maybe if you saved the base there's a section of Cerberus that went rogue that is attacking Shepard. Once you run into TIM he could ask for your help (and Miranda's if she's alive) in taking them out or something. In some way TIM himself should not be involved if you saved the base.
