Heterosexuals should be free to proudly represent theselves on these forums. It's not like the S/S thread isn't mostly off-topic banter, fanboys/girls getting giddy over character-shipping, and romance wishes with fanart. You tolerate that so why should this be any different?

I'd say due to the tendency of pro-heterosexual proponents to resort to homophobic slurs. If this thread remains respectful towards other romances and people who are fans of other romances, I can't see why it should be disallowed.

Straight male player. I have three Shepards, two males (one paragon for Ashley and one non-racist renegade for Ashley) and a female (insanely evil renegade) and all have female LIs. Being the rebel that I am, I consider Liara a female even though Bioware -- and many Liara fans -- say I shouldn't. And I didn't do the Liara romance for the HAWT lesbian sex, I just think it's hilarious how she sticks with Shepard despite of her hatred of aliens.

As for the s/s thread you seem to want to shut down, you are allowed to express your desires and concerns on how s/s is implemented, but nobody, not even us regulars, are allowed to argue about whether or not they should be in the game since that decision has been made (and is probably set in stone at this point). If you start making personal attacks you get banned, just like I did when I got pulled into an argument that got too personal.

On the note of the OP I do have a Shepard/Talimance I'm gonna import into ME3. Not my favorite ship but I want to see what happens.

I have other "extra" Shepard I create just to check things out. I romanced Tali but found it... creepy.

I had no idea how it was going to play out. I ASSUMED that they would acknowledge their love for each other and remain lovers tragically kept apart by suits and clean rooms save quick moments of contact (quick kiss or touch of a hand). But no, she pops into the bedroom with some magic Mordin sex gel and they go test out the bed-springs.

She did get a head cold, though.

As much as I did not like it, I don't begrudge or belittle the Talimancers' enjoyment. I'm happy because in MY game she's just "little sister" with a crush on Shepard that he doesn't return.

I don't mind the "new look" ME3 Ashley too much, save for the fact that they've softened her eyebrows. Her original eyebrows made her look more forceful in ME1 stills. Maybe I'll change my mind once I actually play ME3.

They're slightly less chickeny, but Garrus's feet make him the next best.

We have dialogues, captions, screenshots and fan arts and besides me and anotehr poster the Shepard's are all Male (Sheploo mostly) and my poor femshep is te only girl not named Ashley in the thread. Even the Kaidan thread, you seen femshep art, femshep fan fic, femsheps and every thing. same with Garrus, Thane, Tali, Miranda, Jack, and Jacob. Hell the WORLD nowadays is Heterosexual until proven Gay. That's why there's a Same Sex romance hread because it's not the standard. It's like Having a Maleshep thread when all the screenshots, trailers, gameplay demo's and such ARE maleshep. The standard doesn't need to be spotlighted because it's the standard. It's the "unsung" things that need to be spot lighted, Femshep is FINALLY gettting a trailer because her fans asked for it, Same sex romance needs it's own thread because the fans asked for it. This thread is redundant and should be closed.

In ME1 my malesheps always went with Ashley. In ME2 they usually end up cheating on her with Miranda. Yes Shep himself considers it cheating, so for him it is. Going to be in a whole heap of trouble come ME3 I imagine.
