There actually is no lesbian thread as the lesbians and gays have been put into the same basket.

The s/s thread is for m/m and f/f. See the ♀♀ in the title?

On-topic: I have a femShep/Kaidan arc that I'll be importing into ME3. Will be interested to see the Horizon conversations.

Lessee, I have following Shep scenarios ready to import into 3:

MShep/Liara, faithful in 2, rekindled in LotSB
MShep/Ash/Miranda love triangle
FShep/Kaidan/Thane love triangle
FShep/Garrus (romanced Kaidan, who died on Virmire)
MShep/Tali (romanced Ash, who died on Virmire)

Still have to do
MShep/Liara or Ash/Jack. Maybe Liara because I don't have her in a love triangle and its been a while since I played that arc.
FShep/Kaidan/Jacob (renegade FShep who only wants humans, finds the thought of bedding aliens ick).

and maybe after that (if I still have the time and energy...), I'll get around to doing a celibate Shep to import into 3 free of all romances...

First, a disclaimer - I don't have any issues with this thread existing whatsoever. Each to their own, as they say. But I had a read through and there seems to be some opinions circulating that I'd like to comment on.

The s/s thread initially existed to bolster support and make one's opinion known on having s/s romances included within the game. Then, eventually, when they were announced at having been integrated, the thread became a place to discuss the possibilities that new information held. Sadly, the thread is still a required one since there are those who feel uncomfortable at the mere mention of non-heterosexual romances. So, it is a place to contain the s/s conversation away from those who might be 'offended' by it.

So, I see this as a somewhat similar thread. It's more a place for those who don't feel comfortable with s/s discussion and just wish to see talk of heterosexual romances. Otherwise, there is an already existing romance thread, as was mentioned before. I don't feel uncomfortable reading about the het romances (clearly, because I've read through this
thread), which is why I read the general romance thread as well.

I'm not bashing that at all. I understand that all people are different and there are just some things people aren't comfortable with. I wish we could all be understanding and tolerant of one another but I don't think we're at that point yet. >.>

So, sure, keep this thread open and have fun with it. :)

The very fact that you had to chime in here and write does have a bashing angle. I doubt that is the reason the thread exists. Anyway, I am assuming you are a lesbian, which I think is fabulous as there really aren't enough lesbians in the world.:D

Of course I have seen that but why put both gays and lesbians in the same basket? It's not like they are identical, in fact they like totally opposite things!

Hell, it was about time.

About the first picture in the opening post. It has the sensation of the war going on and also brings together a couple, I like it very much.

It made sense at the time to argue for more (or any) s/s content in general, I guess, rather than just m/m or f/f. Plus putting 'm/m' or 'gay' in the thread title is a magnet for trolls, as I'm sure you're aware. It certainly fits the type of discussion we wanted to have: about how to implement s/s romances in general (through dialogue options, giving Shepard or NPCs flirting lines, etc), rather than specific characters or orientations.

(There'll definitely be individual threads for s/s LIs when or if Bioware sees fit to 'officially' announce them, at the moment we could easily make them but any info comes from the leaked beta)

That's one way of looking at it but that was never my intention. To bash someone or something there must be intent behind it. I didn't want to demean anyone here, I merely wanted to explain the positions of others in the hope of harbouring a little understanding. I'm all about the understanding. ;)

Aye, your assumption is correct. And I'm in complete agreement with your final words. :P

I realize this being a new thread we would have some against it at first (sad we need to defend ourselves for this).

There is a thread for gay/lesbian players and though it's not for me, I have respected your choice and stayed out of your thread on it. Please give me/us the same respect in our thread and let us discuss our topic in peace.

Let's not turn this into a deal where posters from each thread enter the other just to flame it

TIA

I admit, I find it curious as to why this thread was necessary, given that your orientation is guaranteed to be in every Bioware game to come. There seems to be relatively little to discuss, as such.

In any case, it's not for gay/lesbian players, but for anyone who wants to discuss said romances existing.

No, there is a thread for s/s romances within the game. You don't need to be gay to enjoy them. Just as you'll find gay and lesbian players contributing to this thread based on the het romances they've played. I'm not sure where you're seeing the attacks coming from but, since there have been comments on certain topics on previous pages by posters from this thread, I don't think it's unfair to reply to them.

Let's avoid segregating the player base as well as the romances within the game, shall we?

You're not reading the thread then. Someone just questioned the thread right above you.

I ask yet again, please stay on topic or post will be reported to admins.

Questioning the validity of a thread is not an attack. It is a question. There's no need to be so defensive. If you're bothered about it, then just reply rationally. Rationality wins the day. ;)

What would you consider on-topic? What hasn't been said in the already existing romance thread? Would it help if I posted a random screenshot of a het romance? >.>

That's your view on it. I was going to PM you for a bit more of an in-depth discussion on the matter since, yes, I think I've taken enough of the thread's time but it appears you've blocked me for some reason. Wanting to open a dialogue or forming a logical opinion is confrontational? I'm not stopping you from discussing anything. I said I had no problems with this thread. You're the one continuing this by telling people to stop posting in a thread on an open forum.

My question of the day for the femshep folks of this thread.

What are your thoughts on Vega?

I just watched a clip with him in it and he seemed like the jar head/jock type. Looks like just the opposite of Kaidan.

Do you see any friction between them?

I'm asking you to stay on subject, but you continue to be confrontational. I'll not reply anymore.

Good day.

With all due respect, folks, the Who Are You Going to Romance? thread is for all orientations and the Fight For the Love thread is specifically for same sex romances. Some people simply aren't interested in playing same sex romance plots in their game and thus would have nothing to contribute (or be interested) in those threads. What is it that people keep saying? 'Romances are optional.' 'You don't want to play a same sex romance, don't take the options.' Well, there are some people that will not be taking those options but would still like a place where they can discuss the romances that they will be playing.

Fair is fair, folks. If one group is allowed a thread to discuss their topic in a respectful manner, the same goes for another group doing the same thing. The presence of this thread does not affect the FFTL thread at all. At. All. Just as you do not appreciate people trolling that thread, please have the courtesy to not troll this one.

Common courtesy. It's a thing.

On topic: I am keeping my mind open about Vega since I really know very little about him. I expect that once the YouTube videos start popping up, I'll be able to conjure up a more informed opinion of the man.

That's why you pick 'em. He looks like an actual man, Kaidan felt spineless and weak all of the time. Vega's serious at his work and has no time for bulls**t. When he's not on the job he's easy to get along with and is very amiable towards the whole ship. Simply put, he's the type of person you'd want to hang out with because he knows how not be a bummer unless the situation is serious.

I'm also not getting what people here have against him being designed like an athlete. He is a soldier, he has to be ready to do his job and that requires him to be physically fit for that role. Unless a lot of people here ift the gamer stereotype, then that explains a thing or two....

Friction between Vega and Kaidan? Hmmm. No, I think they'll probably bond over their mutual 'OMG what was Shepard THINKING joining Cerberus?!' grouchiness. :P

I agree with what you're saying and I actually like the idea of a tough guy like Vega.

I just know that Kaidan has a huge female following (since he is the only human option from the past) and I was wondering if some possible friction between the two might actually cause Vega to be hated by female players.

I didn't feel like any of the male romance options suited my FemShep. She needed someone on an equal footing to her and, especially in the first game, everyone was a subordinate. That's the problem with her being in the military, I suppose. In the second game, the situation was similar. Even the non-military types didn't seem to challenge her authority enough. My FemShep needs someone who will be both her physical and intellectual equal. Whilst Garrus may have filled that role, all I could think of was Shepard being his mentor in the first game. I don't see them making Vega much more than another military subordinate as well. Kaiden's a bit more promising for ME3 and, if I do play a het romance at some point, I'm hoping they'll have him challenging her a bit more.
