I started a new Mass Effect run over the weekend in order to have my canonical Shepard.  I've run into an issue with decrypting.  I'm on Eden and trying to decrypt for the first time.  I know I've done this in the past, but for some reason I'm not successful now.  Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so what was your solution?

Actually I think it is a technical issue. When I played Mass Effect the first time it was on an XBox. At some point prior to the release of Mass Effect 2, I got a 360 and transferred my profile. I hadn't tried playing ME 1 on the 360 until last night. Thus I'm wondering if it is related.

Your answer doesn't make sense. Mass Effect was always an Xbox360 game, never offered for the older plain Xbox. Be that as it may, the forum hasn't had many console gamers on hand in a long time. I think Bogs may have both PC and Xbox 360 versions, but he won't be here until evening.

Does your character, or Kaiden, have any points in the decryption skill? If not, there's your problem.

@gorath: I dont actually have a 360, Ive just voided the warranties on a few by "upgrading" them.

@Gorath Alpha: That threw me for a loop, but then I remembered you are correct. I should have stated I went from an original XBox 360 to the slim XBox 360. I know I played ME 1 about 4 months ago on a friends original 360 and didn't have any problems with the decryption.

@Bogsnot1: Kaiden has the max points I could put into decryption at the beginning of a game. Having completed the game before I knew what to expect. I get the mini game going and even if I hit the correct button I get an error.
