The difference between the VS romance and Liara's romance....

Romanced Liara is always in the Normandy. Both Ash, Kaidan and her share the same intro if alive or romanced in the PC/Xbox version.
In the PS 3 vesion Liara is ALWAYS with you in the Normandy romanced or unromanced.
Kaidan/Ashey isn't.

CtpData has never, ever romanced Liara so he wouldn't know. I don't like Ashely but I still romanced her for RP's sake.

The other part isn't CptData asserted that only the VS refuses to leave the ship, when in fact Liara also refuses.

Know what? I don't care anymore. This is headcanon vs headcanon or taste vs taste. Debating who's the better, more loving or more fulfilling romance option is useless.
Leaving that narrow-minded debate.
(PS: Ashley is - for me - the better option. Liara still doesn't give me any feelings, even in my current fem!Shep playthrough with her as LI. It still feels like friends. Not like lovers ...)

I was just explaining the two different paths.
The Ps3 version always has Liara in the intro.
And the 360/Pc version always has either your LI. Or the VS for singleshepard.

Well at least they made her good looking now, I can romance her more easily, that bun hair style was...ugh.

Hmm, I'm not a big fan of buns either, but I never thought of Ashley's bun as "ugly". At least she has hair
Funny thing: I don't mind Liara's "hairstyle". She's simply not my type. If I could pick Aria or Tela Vasir as LI, I'd take them. I'm not sure in case of Shiala. Uhh and that Matriarch Bartender ... interesting. Plus Gianna Parasini

As for Ashley vs. Liara - I do not particulary like either of these romances. Actually, I do not like a single one in Mass Effect so far. That said, my secondary Shepards romanced Ashley, Liara and Miranda, but just for fun and more dialogue, I always found it kinda weird.

The part about how Liara is a ***** for requiring you to do work for her before she offers up the information of why you're back. It was interesting to me to read how some people took it that way, cause that's not how I read it. To me, Liara was just not ready to say it the first time she saw Shepard. But after spending a while with Shepard again, she managed to gather her courage to speak up. That Shepard has managed to help her with a job at that point is irrelevant.
That's just my opinion though =)

Unfortunately, you can go and do the rest of the game, and she still hasn't worked up enough courage.
So it's all about the jobs.

Liara's story is simple. She was told by cerberus that they could bring back the person she loved more than life. And she did it. It's actually very human. We may all accept that death is permanent, but if someone said they could give you back someone you love you would do it too. TIM exploited her grief. Had they approached Ash or Kaidan they would have done it too. Wrex is the only one who probably wouldn't have done it. He would have got you body from the collector's then he would probably buried or burned what was left on Tuchanka.

If you do, you're naive. Dangerously naive.
If you don't, you might waste an opportunity.
Must say, according to the facts, I'd refuse to deal with the fiend, even if it could bring back the love of my life. I'm not selling my soul (and that's an atheist's statement).
I don't say Liara did something wrong. I just say she did something naive - even more so if -not- romanced. That -feels- awkward, in worst case "creepy". The fact Ash or Kaidan didn't do the same can be explained easily: they knew death is final. And it's yet to be seen if Shepard is still Shepard or somehow changed, a clone or whatnot. So in worst case Shepard is no longer Shepard but a copy - and the original Shepard is still dead.
It's a real issue here, one that might be addressed in ME3.

1. I like a tough broad.
2. Shepard can impact Ash's character development with enough charisma.
3. I hate schoolgirl crushes. Shepard is in a sci fi James Bond/Jack Bauer movie not freakin' Twighlight.
4. I still really like Tali and Liara as characters and I feel they're more trustworthy then the human love interests so I feel as though keeping them in the role of trustworthy allies requires a platonic relationship.
