Ash/Kaiden were not in a position to do what Liara did, they had a duty to the Alliance and thought it was the best way to serve who they thought to be dead (Shep). Liara, having no such constraints as well as being a suddenly amazing information broker was in the position to help Shep and did so but does so whether they are in a relationship or not.

I'm thankful for Liara for rescuing me but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the work Ashley did while I was gone. She did what she was best at and kept from breaking down. That is how her character is portrayed in ME1 and she stayed strong like that in ME2. Of course it was a let down with their one meetup but I'm hopeful for ME3's resolution.

Eh. My Shep rather stay single personally. VS bites his head off at Horizon and show a laughable interpretation of his character and Liara's a bit of a creep.

That's just for my Sheps though.

What does VS stand for? I've been seeing it a lot lately, but no one's clarified it.

Anyway, I don't think Ashley or Kaidan could have given Shepard's corpse to Cerberus due to their knowledge of the organization and the Alliance's natural opposition to it. Being involved with Cerberus would have compromised their positions. Liara, though she didn't seem to trust Cerberus either, at least didn't see the harm in giving Shepard to them. Plus, she needed something that would occupy her.

...is that the VS's appearence in ME2 was terrible and Liara was only saved thanks to LotSB.
Honestly, if they are truly committed to Shep as a LI WOULD be, they'd've trusted Shepard and gone with him/her after Horizon... or at the very least said they HAD to deal with something more important/imminent (if we'd run into them in Arrival, for example), this would've made sense. Like when Tali had to deal with the Haestrom thing before she could join us.
Anyway, I'm done b!*ching. I just KNOW this is gonna be handled poorly from my point of view no matter what.
