It's kind of sad that I know for a fact that I can write better, and that's just from reading the tidbits you guys post here.

Yeesh.

OK, book has many setting flaws, but story itself is pretty good so far.

I know people on this forum who have written far better stories, with more careful attention to the details and they asked when they weren't certain about things.

Shame what media attention can do to a person or novels sometimes.

MASS EFFECT: REPULSION
Jeff O'Connor

As you know, Admiral Anderson once held the rank of Spectre for almost twenty years. While he admired the asari gracefully gliding on their mass effect fields in the middle of the President, the most luxurious hotel in the pineapple-shaped Citadel, the immaculate Kahlee Vega smiled.

"As you know, I'm beautiful," Vega commented as she Force Pushed the argumentative Nick with her Level 9001 biotics. It was then that the scientist discovered the existence of the Reapers via telepathy.

Leng came racing around a corner, air-dropped by The Illusive Man himself. Although his legs were in tremendous pain, he managed to backflip off of the Citadel Spire, tallest building in the pear-shaped embassy and home to the Proconsul. "As you know, I'm related to Altair."

"As you know, Gillian is 47," chimed in Anderson (David).

Yeah,
let's go figure out what the Reapers are up to. Noo..wait our weird
child who is actually an adult and shouldn't be here in the first place has joined a Biotic cult. Let's go deal with that instead of doing the thing we were just told to do.

Still better written and more accurate than Defunction Deception.

I feel compelled to post this.

I mean, come on, if it's going to be bad, at least make it REALLY bad, so it's good again.

Anybody else bothered by the fact that the quarian sent as the Migrant Fleet's representative to the Council, "Fothar vas Maynar", apparently doesn't have a clan-name?
Or is that just me? :pinched:

I would say prehaps he's the son of a exile but that would be giving this way too much credit.

Honestly wondering if Dietz meant to imply he was "Father of Maynar".

Gillian's age has ruined to book for me. It makes no sense, and I have no idea when it's supposed to take place because of it. I can live with the weird descriptions and the somewhat different style of writing, but I just can't ignore a huge error like that. I just.... can't,

Another error to the list.

See, BioWare? This happens when you leave your work in the hands of a writer who just has a big name and nothing else.

Oh, and he contradicts his own plot points:

Udina (who he oddly avoids naming, as if unaware that that's canon now):

"I can’t explain where Grayson’s implants came from, or what their purpose was, but Cerberus is known for its cruelty.

TIM a scant few pages later:

"And in spite of Anderson and Sanders’s efforts to warn the Council members about the Reapers, they blame Cerberus for what took place. I don’t like that. Our credibility is at stake.

Also, TIM was pleased to have Anderson working on the Reaper threat, and while he didn't see it as ideal, content to let Grayson's corpse stay where it was.

Umm, he also refers to "a male named Ugho"

I guess Ugho'Qaar vas Idenna was to complicated?

That list's going to get huge I suspect.

Thing is, WE ALREADY KNOW WHAT REAPERS ARE UP TO!

They are traveling to galaxy!
Unless they got here already, not sure when Deception takes place.

And we know they'll do, if you follow ME3.

Also, Cerberus is in this story.
And all those 3 plot points should connect.

And so far, it looks it will.

Kai Leng is going to Citadel to grab Greyson's body.
Gillian is gonig to Citadel to look for Greyson's killer.
Nick joined some Biotic cult/political party/gang and somehow showed up in Citadel morgue, but we don't know if he's dead or something doing there.

Is it also the same morgue where Greyson's body is located?

Why would that Biotic cult/political party/gang be interested in Greyson's body?
Some political agenda against Alliance and/or Council and/or Cerberus?
Or maybe even Reaper secret agents that are indoctrinated?
Or a front for Reapers, while they don't know but maybe few people.

Lot of questions left to be answered in that book.

But that's just me.

That would be even worse, since it'd only show that he has no clue about how quarian titles (and then some) works.
