Yes they're 18 theirs no way around it. That only means that adding up to from they were 12 a couple months after ME1 and adding 2 years from Sheperd's resurrection, that ME2 could have taken months or a year and and Shepard spent awhile on Earth in between. I understand too, I was like WHAT. It didn't make any sense I was trying to do calculations and the only logical explanation came from the Leaked Demo intro that said 30 yrs after the discovery of the prothean ruins on mars. (2157) So the year ME3 starts in 2187 or 2188 which can justify their age.
I think he is attempting to somehow pair Gillian and Nick together.

He must have. They've mentioned that they gave an edited version of their internal docs to the people at Dark Horse as a reference on the universe. I have trouble believing Dietz wasn't given one as well.

This book takes place before Arrival, so Shepard probably hasn't gone on the Suicide Mission yet. And, at most, ME2 takes place over like two months.

At the latest, ME3 takes place is 2187. Wiithout fudging the numbers, they still can't be older then 16. It's just bizarre to add two years onto them when it's no needed. Also, if you have to sit down and wrack your brain to get this crap to make sense, then there is already a big problem right there.

Retribution is after ME2 and suicide mission, making Deception after suicide mission.

Ah, I forgot when exactly Retribution took place. In any case, Arrival probably hasn't occurred yet, since if it had there would be a lot more issues being dealt with on the CItadel.

they were 12 in 2183 yes? Technicaically the oldest they would be 16, 17 if were pushing for 2188.

Unless there's a love scene brewing. Having sex with a 16 year old is a sex crime in most of the US. Maybe the legal team required an edit.

DarkHorse doesn't have to worry about descriptions, since everything's a visual, and exposition is more on the story.

The fact that we have no clue when this takes place is a colossal problem by itself.
I agree the Mass Wiki's timeline isnt exactly helpful. masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline
And under my hunch I think they got the starting year wrong.

It just adds other problems that way. In Arrival, the Alliance has Shepard out trying to stop the Reapers, on orders from the commander of the fifth fleet. And yet the Alliance council member still doesn't believe they exist?
Hackett is quite capable of acting on his own initiative without approval from anyone higher up

Yeah, though it would be legal in Canada, I guess they do need to be able to sell the book in America too.

I'm not saying he's doing so because of expicit instruction from the council, but would it not be valuable to the Alliance if they explain to their highest represetative that the Reapers are actually real.

16 or 17 isn't that far off from 18. So its probaly better just to ignore that fact and probably substitute your own.
So along with all the other ridiculous errors. Do I have to edit the book before I read it? This is just the worst.

How many accurate media spinoffs do you know of? I seen all sort of errors in other series.

So let me jog my brain again. Nick and Jillian were 12 in in Ascension and then 15 in Retribution and know possibly 18 in Deception. That right?
Yes, in the few months since Retribution they've aged three years.

But the previous books did a damn fine job keeping all this **** straight, Dietz just doesn't have a clue.
