Aria likes to take trips to Thessia. Despite, you know, that being completely stupid due to her being a criminal warlord, and one who can't really afford to leave Omega. Also, someone robbed her bank while she was gone. What.

Unless there's a love scene brewing.  Having sex with a 16 year old is a sex crime in most of the US.  Maybe the legal team required an edit.

Oh god... Nick and Gillian?

My favorite part is how they inexplicably have a piece of TIM's DNA and made a weapon out of it. And are selling it at an auction.

It's like a Bond movie.

The Illusive Man's home is on a "remote mining world". I could have sworn dude lived on some sort of space station...

I'm dying.

It's almost worth it, since it's edging into "so bad, it's hilarious" territory.

I don't know why, but the first thing that brought to mind was this old SNL sketch with Eddie Murphy:

On randomhouse: http://www.randomhou.../9780345520739/ by clicking on the cover you can open a preview, from page 18 to 30 each one is a chapter first page. The more I read the more I wan't to cancel my preorder .
I will probably end up reading it but it's gonna be a huge .... deception ... B).

Oh, FFS. One of the slaves on the ship was turian...and captured on Palaven.  Yeah, that's right: batarians raiding the capital world of the Turian Hierarchy, a society where EVERYONE serves in the military at some point and which has the largest fleet in the galaxy.

Also, apparently, Hendel has never been to Omega.
Except in "Ascension" but that doesn't count.

This is just so bizarre.  Like, it's one thing to get details wrong, its not like I expect the guy to play through the games or anything, but you'd think if you were writing the sequel to a highly acclaimed series of books, you'd at least look at a freaking PLOT SUMMARY of said book series.

Also, the only interaction Nick and Gillian ever had was him being a complete jackass and causing her to flip out and nearly kill him with a biotic throw.  I see no reason why either of them would be interested in romance after that catastrophe.

Except it's nowhere near as good as the Bond movie where they did it.  You don't even see Bond at the terrorist bazaar, you see his handlers back in London watching it through the camera he's sneaked in to set up.  While they're talking, Bond spots something he wants to retrieve, and you can hear one of the handlers refusing permission, telling him to pull out.

Through the camera, the handlers watch in horror as Bond strolls up to one of the guards and asks for a cigarette.  The whole scene spirals into a fast and confusing firefight as Bond kills his way toward the thing he wants to steal.

That totally could have been Kai Leng.  Instead we get a jovial account featuring a fat alien with a gavel.  I hate this f**king book.

I wouldn't use the words highly acclaimed to describe the Mass Effect books. They are all kinda bad. Just not in a hilarious way.

Oh, and there's apparently something called the "asari Biotics Guild". OK, Dietz? I know you're a fiction writer and all but....STOP MAKING SH*T UP!

In fairness, we have been told about asari craft guilds, who "hold a virtual monopoly on advanced biotic technology".  Hopefully that's what he's referring to.

I'm sad to say I find the writing surprisingly... poor.

I read the previous two books and quite enjoyed them... but the writing style and use of language here is very disappointing (clearly written for extremely young teen level of reading comprehension) :(

The other ME books, while very much aimed for a young adult audience, was nowhere this poorly written (referring to use of English language).

Sorry.. just found it very noticeable and cringe inducing at times :(

More like Anderson on Gillian in pure American tradition of taking virginity of your daughter.... wait... nope. I guess is 50/50 between timeline error or some legal issue about some sexuals allusions. <_<

@didymos1120: hu-town :D missed that one.

Also on 26: Tra-Na hotel :innocent:

This IP mistreatment must not go unpunished. I'm not recommending an Amazon bomb or anything, but for god's sake, someone should warn the blogs that something is afoot. Someone unwittingly takes one of these books home, thinking they're about to enjoy a novel set in the mass effect universe, why, they'll have no idea what they're getting into......SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN.

It's not too late! We must warn them!

Did the novel already come out? I haven't seen this in the preview.

Edit: I probably blocked it out like I did some of the stupid in this novel.
