Sorry.. just found it very noticeable and cringe inducing at times :(

I'm not exactly a literary snob, but I did that at least 10 times in the first 2-3 pages.

Now combine this novel with the art of the comics and we have a true masterpiece on our hands.

On randomhouse: http://www.randomhou.../9780345520739/ by clicking on the cover you can open a preview, from page 18 to 30 each one is a chapter first page. The more I read the more I wan't to cancel my preorder .
I will probably end up reading it but it's gonna be a huge .... deception ... B).

Oh, FFS. One of the slaves on the ship was turian...and captured on Palaven.  Yeah, that's right: batarians raiding the capital world of the Turian Hierarchy, a society where EVERYONE serves in the military at some point and which has the largest fleet in the galaxy.

Well now I doubt they actually raided Palaven. He was probably kidnapped by some slavers or like the Cerberus idiot bet himself in a game and lost.

Seriously after nearly escaping death why would you risk your own life gambling?

Seriously the guy can't be all that bright after all he willfully identifies himself as a Cerberus operative to two ppeople who just freed him with aid of the quarians..so many things wrong with that alone.

Wow, I've just been skimming a few pages of this thread and my hype for this book (has already been dispatched to me, too) is kinda... lowered immensly now. This seems so bad on so many levels. Perhaps I should take up writing novels for video games, doesn't look like you need to be that accurate or have the best English professor language use to make a living off it.

This IP mistreatment must not go unpunished. I'm not recommending an Amazon bomb or anything, but for god's sake, someone should warn the blogs that something is afoot. Someone unwittingly takes one of these books home, thinking they're about to enjoy a novel set in the mass effect universe, why, they'll have no idea what they're getting into......SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN.

It's not too late! We must warn them!

Only the hardcore fans care enough about the novels, and they are probably already aware about its quality. I myself think it is just hilarious, like a lot of Mass Effect fanfiction I've read.

Any given poster in this thread could probably write a better, and far more accurate, Mass Effect novel.

Probably right. Hell he brags about how he shot some people in the head to escape. Seriously WTF?

Except it actually says that he was captured off of Palaven.

Aria likes to take trips to Thessia. Despite, you know, that being completely stupid due to her being a criminal warlord, and one who can't really afford to leave Omega. Also, someone robbed her bank while she was gone. What.

Did the novel already come out? I haven't seen this in the preview.

Edit: I probably blocked it out like I did some of the stupid in this novel.

It's new material found here:

Also I agree that the reference to the "Biotics Guild" probably refers to the crafting guilds, but it should be called that, it isn't a league for Biotics, dammit.

O Hai! I'm Hal Mcann!  Would you like to know more about Cerberus today?  'Cause I'm totally a member, yo! I will also now confess to murdering two turians, 'cause I'm just that wacky! What's that you say?  I probably shouldn't be bringing this up after being rescued by the Idenna of all ships? Aw, it'll be fine! What? It's probably a bad idea to bring this up with Gillian Grayson? Nah! That's crazy talk!

It's got a standard Tantalus drive core powered by mass effect fields, which as you know were discovered by the asari after they found the Citadel.

Which, as you know, was built by the Reapers in order to direct galactic civilizations down a path they found acceptable - though this wasn't common knowledge in the galaxy.

But who stole money from Aria's bank account? Was it that rapscallion Kai Leng?

I read the prologue and stopped. The amount of grammar issues annoy me and it feels so dumbed down in comparison to Karpyshyn.

Hopefully Dietz doesn't write something incredibly stupid past page 54.

Well we've seen the first pages of future chapters so... yes he does - quite a lot in fact.
