Somehow Google Books don't show me preview. Oh well, this thread is priceless even without seeing sorry fate of cereals for myself.

Kai Leng will eat her cereal too!

The great cereal shortage of 2150 was his fault. He is the reason aliens hate humans.

Also, I love the " Oh my god " told by the asari council member when she sees the body of Grayson.

Since when, Asari believe in god.

Maybe the unknown human councilor taught her a few new things behind the scenes?

Earlier comment which sent me ROFL:

“My God,” the asari Council member said feelingly.

"By the Goddess, that's wrong too," the BSN poster said pissed-offedly.

Some of them might.  Asari don't have just one religion - and we know that Buddhism has got a few converts among the Turians.

(And the normal translation as "goddess" is actually sort of debatable, since presumably an Asari deity wouldn't be thought of as having a particular gender.)

I'm really curious to see how this book sells and whether releasing it in such close capacity to the game's release will boost sales. I'm especially interested to see the sales comparisons between it and Asunder. Asunder is of course an infinitely better written book as it has two things that this does not: 1) a competent author and 2) someone who's more than familiar with the lore and source (being that he's Lead Writer and all, lol).
Asunder was however released quite a bit after Dragon Age 2 so that's why I'm interested to see the comparison.

I've been lurking this thread since its glorious beginning and while this is comedic gold, the mass effect fan in me is choking. but its two weeks from launch, ****s allready final.

As funny as this is, I urge everyone considering pre-ordering/picking up this book "for the lols" to reconsider. Buy it used or acquire it via other means but please don't buy it. If this sells well then its likely to happen again. If it flops, they'll look into it.

Remember: the only way to set big business straight is with your wallet and coming from experience with other franchises that crank out crap for dough, I guarantee this will be significantly less funny a second time.

Easier said than done. It's already shipped out all over the globe. Heck, I've paid my book in full and it's already dispatched and on its way. If the Swedish postal system didn't take 3-6 days to get a book to your place, I'd have it in my hand right now. I hope this thread will say enough about what we think. Let's just say that even I highly doubt I'd pick up a another Dietz Mass Effect book, and I buy everything with a BioWare logo on it (heck I own 3 copies of DAO and am considering my 4th copy of ME1 as we speak),

I realise It's probably too late for those who've already pre-ordered but I have to try. I wouldn't read this as anything other then a comedic fan-fiction, nevermind a serious novel and kits depressing to think this made it this far.

As for this thread influencing serious changes, I doubt it. Look at Warcraft for example, Richard Knaaks been churning out the same lore-rape for over 6 novels. As long as it sells, Activision doesn't care. Do you really think EA would be any different?

Well I'm hoping EA will realise that this book gets poo reviews and we will not buy another book by the same author. Wow I feel terrible for writing that, I can only imagine how it'd feel if I was Dietz and read that, but... yeah, wow.

What's gonna happen to our canon now? The events as they transpired in Deception are canon, but everything that's related to the lore (and not the book's plot itself) is moot?

Nah, it's a matter of overriding canon. That is to say, the canon straight from BioWare Edmonton and repeatedly stated ought always to take precedence, and so only a shell of "Deception" shall remain true overall.

Oh, BTW, you know what's the stupidest thing about this novel? The plot, such as it is, is all about Gillian's quest to kill TIM....who we already know survives just fine. We've even seen in-game footage of him, in which he's no worse for wear. What is the damn point then?

Haha, somehow I totally read the bold part in Vigils voice.

I hear you though. I decided I am not going to pick it up (and as I said earlier, I was really REALLY looking forward to it).
I even put up with the god awful comics like evolution and I thought at least novels would keep up some standard but this is just too much. I am just going to read this thread to keep up to date with the crap that is in there and get some laughter out of the hilarious comedy that BSN makes out of this.
On that note, congrats to JLT, the 'cereal killer' pic almost had me lying on the floor. I'd post a smiley if the whole situation wouldn't be so sad.

Well, personally, I was (mostly) okay with that at the onset with the requirement that the novel make known ends into an interesting tale. Audiences have enjoyed such fateful dramas since pre-Oedipus; sometimes it's an exciting prospect. Besides, I didn't know what would happen to Gillian, and hoped for the best for her despite all signs pointing to the contrary.

Of course, all that intrigue is thrown by the wayside now.

This is dipping a bit into spoilers here, but Nick and Gillian do not appear to make an appearance in ME3, nor is any of this mess explained ala Revelation and Ascension. As far as I'm concerned, Gillian and Hendel are still off the grid with the Idenna hell, it was a five year voyage, so they'll be getting back right after the whole Reaper mess blows over.

Well, see I thought there'd actually be something else going on, like about the Reapers, that would end up giving the novel its relevance to ME3. But no. It's not like Revelation, where Sovereign was this object lurking in background that set off the actual events of the book. Not like Ascension either, where the whole "chase after Gillian" thing was a way to introduce TIM and give us an idea of what Cerberus was really like.  But there's nary a hint of that sort of thing at all. Just a bunch of randomness with characters hopping from one place to another just because, and Kai Leng stealing Anderson's Eezo Flakes.  Bastard probably drank directly from the Space Cow Milk carton too.

Yeah, ain't surprised.  The ME team knows this thing is a complete loss.  I'd be willing to bet it's already been internally declared non-canon and to be ignored.

Wow. That is bad. And I was actually planning on buying this book.
