As you know, Quarians practice the ancient mystical art of Ret-Kahn, which can cure any ailment. Gillian visited the Quarian Shaman Walmahn nar Dietz shortly after she arrived on the Idenna. She was placed in a magical healing trance. As a result of this, she is now a perfectly normal girl, though as a side effect she aged two whole years in a matter of weeks.

Also, I love the " Oh my god " told by the asari council member when she sees the body of Grayson.

Since when, Asari believe in god.

Earlier comment which sent me ROFL:

My God,” the asari Council member said feelingly.

"By the Goddess, that's wrong too," the BSN poster said pissed-offedly.

Is the bolded part a real quote from the book?

Probably.

That's probably also how Nick's extensive wounds were healed.

IT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING.

I love how deadpan everyone is about it - like its badness isn't even a thing that surprises us anymore.

As you know, while Nick was recovering in the hospital, he used his omni-tool (which is like a game-boy) to grind through the massive multiplayer online game  "World of Biotics". He was able to level up his Biotics from level 1 to level 2.

I find it has stronger negative connotations than most give it credit for, but from a pure definition standpoint, point taken. More like... Utterly disgusted.

Hey, I feel a lot better about this. When I first read that initial excerpt, I was just bummed. But now we've (especially you and didy) turned it into this ridiculous silly thing. It sucks that the book is terrible, but we all got together and found something in it to entertain ourselves. Hooray for forums.

Haha, fair enough. Really, most of the credit ought to go to didy on that one. I made a few jabs but he's been burning the midnight oil working on a full-blown presentation what with all the things he's pointed out. I really think he ought to put it all together and mail it to BioWare.

Wow..okay. Lore aside...he's just a bad writer. At least w/ this novel.

"feelingly"? [She] said "feelingly"?

That's just...no...

And this was published by Del Rey/Ballantine. Don't they have editors, too? They may not know the lore, but some of this stuff.....is just...bad. Clunky.

Yeah, that guy must never sleep - bad books must really motivate him.

Re-reading doesn't help! :pinched:

Kahlee made a face as the elevator started upward and the salarian standing in front of them lost his briefcase. It had been tucked under his arm but suddenly slipped out and landed on the floor. Like all of his kind the salarian's head was narrow and crowned with two hornlike appendages. As he bent to retrieve the object it scooted away from him.

I mean, let's not even go into the whole "what is going on" thing. just read the bolded part. Why, oh why, did it need to be there? It doesn't even pertain to what's going on. What does the fact that the salarians have two horns have anything to do with him dropping his briefcase? Like all of his kind, the briefcase was the product of the increasing low standards from the manufacturing company, and had to regrettably be sold at a lower price, much to the sadness of its peers. I mean, it's a leap in logic that doesn't even make sense! He could try explaining it somewhere else when, you know, it would actually be important (and when would it ever be, besides trying to describe a character like Mordin?), but why here?

This is just one example. And, I'm sad to say, that's not even the worst of it... :?

As far as Kai Leng and the Cereal fiasco...aww. I'm gonna be playing ME3, and instead of being intimidated by Kai Leng, now I'm gonna be laughing everytime I see him.

The "Cereal Killah!" Bwahhahaha! He steps out from the shadows, and Shep says, "Uh, Kai, yeah, you got a lil Cocoa Pebble dangling there. You wanna get that? You know, so I can take you srsly?"

Well, until he starts kicking my butt, that is.....:/

Yeah, it would have made much more sense to say something like: "He ducked his narrow head as he bent to retrieve the briefcase, careful to avoid hitting anything with the two hornlike appendages attached." Or something that an actual writer would use.

She just seems like a generic action girl by her intro. I don't know if he expands on her mental state later but I can see it being choppy if so.

"Gillian was a bit unhinged (like a weaker 'crazy') when she lay her eyes on the roly-poly volus in front of her.
'Can I help you, Earth person?' Asked Roly-Poly Ollie. Gillian grunted and threw a singularity at the volus' head. It was strong.
'I will get that Illusive Man if it's the last thing I do!' Gillian screamed and continued to walk along the Presidium."

It's Earth-CLAN for crying out loud, Stupid Roly-Poly Ollie.

diddy's big audio project is one of the best contributions that's been made to this community. His frustration about this book is pretty funny too.

But that parody Jeff did made me hysterical. I was afraid I was going to wake my wife.

Gillian wouldn' call herself gillian when she's still officialy in hiding. Further it's a shame that they've cut out the autist part, especially considering the consept would work (I'm thinking Sherlock holmes and Sheldon cooper)

Somebody needs to send that B back to Hu-Town where she belongs. Don't be bringing that Biotic crap up in here.

Is anyone else hoping that another preview will surface? While cereal-eating Kai Leng is still freaking hilarious we could definitely use some new fuel for our fires.
