I just finished her romance arc and i have to say it's because of the internet that crap like her being racist this gets spread so fast. To prevent myself from going off topic i'll cut to the chase.
I will admit She's "slightly xenophobic". This is evident due to her trust issues. ( lack of proper experience with aliens )
Also, i do think she may have been a little jealous of Liara. This is evident with some of her dialogue. "WHO PUT YOU IN CHARGE " blah blah blah
But racist is much more extreme. She brings up the problem with Wrex/Garrus only one time. And then never mentions it again. I don't think somebody racist would do that.
The dog analogy. As Sovereign would say "incapable of understanding". She meant no true harm by stating that analagy.
BUT SHE SHOT WREX!!!! If she shoots Wrex its YOUR FAULT. Not enough paragon/renegade points or you can signal her to shoot him. If you fail to convince Wrex he's literally ready to shoot you so she shoots him first. I'm sure Kaidan, Garrus, and even Tali wouldve done the same thing if they were in Ashley's place.
By romancing her you can cure that "xenophobia" and make her like aliens more. I like how few people don't mention this.
But to sum it up, people that call Ashley racist is either
> Never romanced Ashley or bothered to talk to her
> A Journalist just talking out of his/her arse.
> Some random gamer who is just regurgitating what it may seems like a lot of people seem to believe
> Someone who just fails to try and understand Ashley's point of view
But see, the people who call her racist don't want to understand all of this.

I agree about the 'jealous of Liara' thing. She seems harsher on Liara/asari when you play as a male than when you play as a female. In fact, other than the "I don't trust Vakarian and Wrex fiddling with an Alliance ship" thing, I can't remember many instances of her being xenophobic. Oh, and the "can't tell the animals from the aliens thing", though that seems more ignorance than anything.

I agree with most of that.
But her shooting Wrex is not Shep's fault unless Shep orders her too. Shep is her commanding officer. If he's dumb enough to get himself shot by a Krogan that's his mistake. It's her thinking she knows better rearing its head again. I'm kind of bleh that Shep didn't have an option to kick her ass off his ship afterwards (though I suppose one could argue leaving her behind to be nuked is said option). And Kaidan *was* in her place. He was standing right next to her (as was about 20 STG peeps). No one else decides to go off half cocked.
As for jealous of Liara. My Shep had rejected her ass long before picking up Liara. So that to him was silly and a lost cause. If he wanted Liara that's who he was gonna be with. Her digs at Liara weren't going to change a damn thing.

If my commanding officer hadn't told me to stand ready and was indeed putting his own weapon down and talking to the man? I'd wait. There's obviously more going on there than I'm privy too. You know...like Kaidan and everyone the hell else does. It's damned clear everyone was watching Shepard and Wrex. There's nothing else interesting to look at. But nooo Shep doesn't convince Wrex fast enough for her tastes so she thinking she knows so much better than everyone else who's waiting goes and shoots Wrex.
