I have read about it and checked their Homepage. It looks very promising, but there seems to be some problem between Obsidian and Sega over the game...

The rumor is that Sega (who is publishing the game) asked Obsidian to spend some more time with the game because it doesn't feel much like an RPG. Apparently the game heavily favors action over exploration.

If that's actually true, then the delay might actually work to all of our benefit.

That's what I heard, too.  There was a preview or two that said the game was too shallow in its current form.  Hopefully, they will use this extra time well because I always wanted to be able to play Burn Notice.  :D

RPG in a modern setting appeals to me.

I can not imagine buying Asscreed2 since the first one was such a disappointment especially after all the hype. It was boring and simplistic. You can only climb a building and jump off so many times without getting fed up with it. The rest of the game was slow and far to simple. Wandering round odd fight yawn. As for the modern Sections Yaaaaaaaaaawn.

I’m looking forward to this game. Folks saying Sega delayed the game for 6 months to make it more “RPGish” is what I heard/read as well. I think this may be a good deal for us (gamers) in two respects. One, I am pleased that they want to take the time it more rpg-ish. Two, as much as like Obsidian (and I like them a lot) lets face it they have had a tough time releasing a mostly bug free game. So maybe this extra time will allow them to work some more of the kinks out. I think with some more rpg elements in it the game is going to be cool. As fairandbalancedfan said, a rpg set in modern times is a welcome change. I wish we saw more of them.

I'll get it. 2010 looks to be a far superior year for gaming than 2009 was.

I was interested in it, but after it was delayed again my interest kinda waned.

Wow, I think this is the first time I am glad a game got pushed back (if the not RPG enough rumor is true that is).

Extra development time can only make the game better, can't wait for it to be released though.

Alpha Protocol was actually on my list above Dragon Age before it got delayed. The "not RPG enough" comments actually had come from a Sony Rep that saw a demo. The delay seems to mostly be on Sega's side. The game was finished according to everything I heard back in August. Sega didn't do much advertising though, and even forgot about their site, as at one point, the clock ticked over and said the game was available, until someone noticed and fixed it. Then took their time announcing the delay until about a week later. The press release said something along the lines of AP being very important and they wanted the game to be a publishing success. Which suggests that Sega pushed it back because they thought Spring would be a clearer window to release in, without the big names like DA:O and MW2 nearby. Of course, its all speculation, so who knows.

Alpha Protocal was a game I was initially very interested in. I really like Obsidian (I'm an unabashed Chris Avellone fanboy), and so I had high hopes for the game.

The more I saw of it, however, the less enjoyable it looked to me. It looked too much like a shooter with some minor story elements than an RPG that had shooting. Basically, more Doom and less Deus Ex, which is the exact opposite of what I was hoping for (Deus Ex being one of my favorite games and the only "shooter" that I've absolutely adored.)

Unless I see something to change my opinion sometime before release, I think it's going to be a game I won't buy until it hits the bargain bin.
