When I try to load my Mass Effect save File I get this message:
"The Save currently selected cannot be accessed. Please select a different save."
I only have one save file, the quick save. Is there a way to repair my save file?

If on PC, then no, you cant repair it. Dont know about Xbox.
You should never rely solely on the quicksave, and never just have 1 save. File corruptions can happen for any reason, so you should always cycle between at least 2 saves.

Quicksaves are often notorious for corruption too, simply because you are using single location. In ME1, you should have an autosave somewhere close, so it shouldn't be a total loss. On PC you should have unlimited(HD space really) saves so go ahead and save 10+ slots(heck I used 50) per game and limit the damage that way.

The strange thing is that both my auto save and my quick save are corrupted. I looked at the file sizes and they are 1KB. I will have to start from the beginning.

Did you have a DLC installed when these saves were created that you no longer have installed. Bring Down the Sky or Pinnacle Station for instance?
