With the addition of  stuff to attract new fans. I was wondering what can us LOYAL fans who played the first two Mass Effect games can expect as a bonus reward. I don't mean "you can unlock" items I mean when I port my games what bonus items am I going to get. I ask because a lot has been done to attract new fan's eg: Multi-player most LOYAL fans where opposed to, the omni-blade which looks like something from Halo and now an entire hand holding component written into the game JUST for noobs who ignored the first two games. What about us the players who have supported this amaizing franchise since day one. Please just a gun, armour or a casual outfit PLEASE.

"Loyal fans" are getting what they've always gotten: a great effort by BioWare to make an awesome game experience for you, regular, direct communication with developers in the BioWare Social Network, newsletters, social media updates, notice of contests, promos, and other events, and generally, the knowledge that you are part of an awesome online community that we love!

You are also getting the same promos and exclusives that all users old and new will get. We are offering such content to new users in the hopes that they will like it and become new "loyal fans," and we are offering it to old users who already know what we're all about. We hope that the old users will be great ambassadors for BioWare and the MAss Effect franchise here in the BioWare Social Network, by being examples of mature, fun, revered community members and forumites. We hope you will help us out by answering newbies' questions, helping to guide them to appropriate discussion threads, and making them feel welcome just as others made you feel welcome when you were a newbie.

In short, longtime fans get our respect and thanks for sticking with us, and the expectation that they will stay with us for years to come. :)

The reason "loyal fans" was in quotes to begin with is that it's essentially a meaningless self-imposed description, a way to declare oneself a more important or bigger/better fan than someone else. but what makes them better? the fact that they've been around for a long time? Well, we have fans that have been with us since our Shattered Steel days. We have fans who have become volunteer community Moderators. We have fans who have done such awesome mod work within the community that we hired them. We have fans who have created fan art and fan fic. We have fans who cosplay as our characters at conventions. Who's a bigger better fan now?

There's no way to quantify or prove how much of a fan someone is, and "fans" are a fickle bunch anyway. As we see after every release, there will always be a group of people who disagree with a game's direction or design decision and threaten to never buy a BioWare game again. Are they fans? Where do they fit within the hierarchy of "loyalty"? Are you a bigger fan if you like EA or hate EA? Are you a bigger fan if you bought games you didn't like, or don't buy the games you dislike? Does buying merchandise from the online store, games from other BioWare studios and all DLC make you a more "loyal" fan? Or is it your post count on the BSN that determines that?

Really, what makes people more or less of a fan, and who "proves"/"certifies" that? Does it make you a bigger fan or less than a fan to feel you are owed something extra for buying our games and come asking for some kind of handout? "I'm a big fan, what does that get me?"

Well, for one thing, we've made a game for you (and everyone else) and you can choose to buy it or not. As a "loyal fan," you are probably more likely to purchase said game and enjoy it. You probably are already familiar with the lore, the characters, the gameplay, and the romances and will be playing it for the finale of this trilogy you've also enjoyed for a few years. New players, or "less loyal fans," will enjoy it more for the sense of discovery and wonder and adventure, which might turn them into "loyal fans." Or it might not.

Regardless, we don't differentiate very much between "loyal fans" and "less loyal fans" when creating our games. We may decide to add content for "players familiar with our previous games," such as reactivity, familiar characters, save game imports, and familiar locations, but beyond that? it's a little presumptuous to quantify your "fan loyalty" and expect something material in return for declaring yourself a "better than other fans" fan.

Sorry.

EDIT: I should add that usually, if and when we offer something extra like a bonus DLC or something, we try to offer it to as many fans as possible, so "loyalty" has nothing to do with it.

Wow, this conversation went to weird places.

I think they owe *every* portion of the fanbase some sort of loyalty.

If that's the kind of loyalty you're talking about, eyesofastorm, then i believe the fact that we're still here making the kinds of games that many RPG players like, the fact that we're around to talk to you guys, and the fact that we have evolved character and story-based games to the level we have, all speak to us still being "loyal" to several portions of our fanbase. :)

New idea: Give loyal UK fans more chance to buy CE or at least tell us that we can use US versions

That usually has to do with various trade regulations and the expense of shipping stuff across an ocean rather than a lack of desire to sell to you, I imagine. :)

This thread has been taken off-topic. Bans have been handed out.

End of line.
