Though really no matter what I get for buying the game I am still going to play the heck out of it.

What you don't like? It's exclusive to all users, non-users won't get that, so it's exclusive!

I've been a Bioware fan since the Kotor days, but you don't hear me bragging about it.

Also, nothing stopping a new fan from buying ME1&2 and playing through them before ME3 comes out.

I think the biggest reward is just being able to follow them along as they made the sequels and have our feedback matter.

Nope. I wasn't talking about that.  If you want to buy the figs to get the DLC go ahead. I may get the Shepard and Grunt figs cause I like the characters. But as I see it, it is a buy or don't buy thing. They may release it a few months later who knows. I am still willing to bet a dollar that it is just a skin for the Co-op or a weapon or something like that. Hardly worth getting upset over really.

See. This guy gets it. I play Bioware games cause no matter what they make quality games. Sure they are owned by EA now and they have to bow to there "Evil overloads" as some say. But they games cust money and lots of it. I for one will buy, play and enjoy the crap out of them. There are very few companies that make games that are as epic as: Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Gears of War, Skyrim. I play these cause they awesome and stand out above everything else. And yes I realize Bioware did not make Gears and Skyrim.

In short: old money is paying anyway. Gotta go after the new money.

Sure would've been nice to get a few unlockables and/or achievements for being a longtime fan. When Bungie released Halo: Reach, players with data from previous Bungie titles were able to unlock special content in-game. It was small stuff, but it still meant a lot to those of us who supported the company for so long.

@LucOs: have to agree with you there. Lots of greed and egoism in this topic. Meh, it's the BSN, I guess.

I think the majority of the response in this topic where chock full of ridicule for the OP suggesting that "loyal fans" don't get anything out of ME3.

I hope that BW loyal fans (got DAs and MEs) will be rewarded with the blood dragon armour in ME3 but many loyal xbox and PC players will have the bonus of all those quests but I do think some DLC wouldn't be out of the question and BW aren't known for hating its fans. But the question is gun or armour?

@izmirth: people just aren't satisfied anymore with what they get nowadays. It's a shame.

My first post to him was "I plan to get a whole lot of satisfaction."

It's people who think the game sould have been designed with their unique personal needs in mind, and nothing else.

It's not enough these days to get a great game and a memorable experience that'll stick with you for weeks or months to come?
For shame, mates!
No matter how old I get, I'll always remember arguing with Ashley about humanity's place in the galaxy. I'll always remember the Alliance fleet rolling in to save the Ascension and Joker's cocky voice telling them they're 'all clear'. I'll always remember Mordin staunchly justifying the genophage even as he struggles with the guilt of doing it. I'll always remember watching Grunt die after giving the Collectors hell. Me 3's going to be loaded with even more of these moments. That's my reward for being a loyal fan!

Yeah, they just keep on screaming MOAR CUS WE'RE SPESHUL!!!111!!! Know your place, lol...Every customer is equal...Plus, I doubt EA cares much about loyalty. At least, their definition of loyalty must be different from mine. In an economuc sense, that is. Oh well.

My reward for being a loyal Mass Effect fan is going to be (hopefully) a pleasant experience playing ME3.

As for the rest...

The reason "loyal fans" was in quotes to begin with is that it's essentially a meaningless self-imposed description, a way to declare oneself a more important or bigger/better fan than someone else. but what makes them better? the fact that they've been around for a long time? Well, we have fans that have been with us since our Shattered Steel days. We have fans who have become volunteer community Moderators. We have fans who have done such awesome mod work within the community that we hired them. We have fans who have created fan art and fan fic. We have fans who cosplay as our characters at conventions. Who's a bigger better fan now?

There's no way to quantify or prove how much of a fan someone is, and "fans" are a fickle bunch anyway. As we see after every release, there will always be a group of people who disagree with a game's direction or design decision and threaten to never buy a BioWare game again. Are they fans? Where do they fit within the hierarchy of "loyalty"? Are you a bigger fan if you like EA or hate EA? Are you a bigger fan if you bought games you didn't like, or don't buy the games you dislike? Does buying merchandise from the online store, games from other BioWare studios and all DLC make you a more "loyal" fan? Or is it your post count on the BSN that determines that?

Really, what makes people more or less of a fan, and who "proves"/"certifies" that? Does it make you a bigger fan or less than a fan to feel you are owed something extra for buying our games and come asking for some kind of handout? "I'm a big fan, what does that get me?"

Well, for one thing, we've made a game for you (and everyone else) and you can choose to buy it or not. As a "loyal fan," you are probably more likely to purchase said game and enjoy it. You probably are already familiar with the lore, the characters, the gameplay, and the romances and will be playing it for the finale of this trilogy you've also enjoyed for a few years. New players, or "less loyal fans," will enjoy it more for the sense of discovery and wonder and adventure, which might turn them into "loyal fans." Or it might not.

Regardless, we don't differentiate very much between "loyal fans" and "less loyal fans" when creating our games. We may decide to add content for "players familiar with our previous games," such as reactivity, familiar characters, save game imports, and familiar locations, but beyond that? it's a little presumptuous to quantify your "fan loyalty" and expect something material in return for declaring yourself a "better than other fans" fan.

Sorry.

EDIT: I should add that usually, if and when we offer something extra like a bonus DLC or something, we try to offer it to as many fans as possible, so "loyalty" has nothing to do with it.

Loyalty is a two way street. And you're right... it's a concept that has little meaning between Bioware and it's "long-time fans" anymore.

I agree with almost the entire post, but this last edit seems a bit off from a company that likes to throw around exclusive promotional and pre-order items.

I'd say that kind of "loyalty" never existed. When did Bioware start rewarding long time fans with exclusive content simply for buying their previous products? That's more in line with what the OP is suggesting. I don't recall KotOR deals for people who bought Neverwinter Nights.

The reward for our loyalty is simple: we knew about Mass Effect since 2007 and have enjoyed it since. Newcomers have just found out about it. While I envy the great experience they are about to enjoy, I can say "been there, done that" and have helped ensure the sequels by buying them in the first place and making he franchise profitable (not to demean its artistic qualities).

It doesn't make you loyal to play me1,2,and 3 and import all the way.

What makes you loyal is having 10+ playthroughs on me1 and 2, and still playing in 2012, not only because you're excited for me3, but because you truly love what mass effect is.
