I'm pretty disappointed that didn't happen, honestly... and found his showing up at the end to detract from the origin story, somewhat.

Two weeks? So the the time span between leaving Ostagar and fighting the actual Archdemon is give or take two weeks?
I've heard a dwarven girl say the actual travel between the Circle tower and the dwarven city took more than 2 months... and you certainly travel a load further then that.
Can someone enlighten me on this subject please?

I got the impression that Fergus was lost in the Wilds for months. It shows you why you really *did* need Morrigan, at any rate.
Or maybe he was in a coma.

And, like you stated above (my bad saying 2 months) it takes the player a minimum of 2 weeks and 4 days to JUST travel between the circle tower and the dwarven city. Let alone the rest of the travels you make. (Denerim - Haven anyone?)

Once I saw him I did an "oh yeah!" and wondered why that part of the origin was ignored. It seems like a good opportunity for side questing to me.

I dunno, just came off as too contrived when the rest of the story telling was quite good.

Hm. Somewhat related, if you're playing the Mage origin, once recruited Wynne mentions that "more than a year" has passed since you left the tower (end of Origin). I've done the "Broken Circle" quest first, so it felt kind of jarring (tower -> ostagar -> lothringen -> tower = more than one year passed).Spitfire80 wrote...
i vaguely recall some NPC's actually telling of more time having passed between ostagar and the end game. I think one of them was talking about several months. I can't pinpoint it exactly. i might even have misread and it especially doesn't fit with what Fergus says, but still its what i recall.
Though I fear that measurement of time was left out on purpose.

I agree, him re-appearing when he did really smacked of soap-opera-level writing. "I was injured and couldn't get to you, but I show up just in the time to wrap up the story and not leave this plot-point hanging..."

Well it could be worse, he could've said he lost his memory.

I personally completely expected a side-quest of some sort involving that, and for that purpose specifically kept the Family Sword on me at all times.

Remember how he said his son would see a sword up close "real soon?" Muahaha.

It turns out in an entirely coincidental act of murder, Fergus killed his own wife and son before leaving.

Resenting being sent from Highever, Fergus and his men dressed up in Arl Howe's uniforms to carry out a false flag operation to start a false war against Teyrn Loghaine, the whole civil war is a farce. More will be revealed in the upcoming "Loose Sovereigns"
