I would have liked Highever to be one of the mid game locations you have to resolve. Fergus could have lost most of his army and returned to Highever to fight a guerilla war against Howe to retake his lands.
The Human Noble has a personal interest in it. Whilst the other Origins may need the political support of the Teyrn of Highever. There could be a rebel camp in the forest, farms, small nearby villages and Highever castle.

I'd never heard of that Dawnspawn tainted brother rumour before, either. Now I'm even more frustrated that we didn't encounter Ghoul-Fergus. D'oh!

That would leave it wide open as to whether he survived or not ... leaving it wide open for DLC

I would have liked it if all this time, Arl Howe kidnapped him and you found him in the dungeon underneath the Denerim estate tortured and near death, and after helping you against Howe he'll help you during the rest of the Landsmeet and the final assault on Denerim. That's how I would have done it at least. The only plot hole I find in that is why Arl Howe would keep him alive, but something else other than tacking him on in the end game coronation ceremony.
At least they put him in there and didn't forget about him, I was happy to see him at least.

The Tale of Fergus: Well, for a while he was just lost in the woods. First, he suffered a case of explosive amnesia after getting hit in the head by a genlock. When he woke up, he found himself in the bed of an elderly lady who may or may not have turned into a dragon as he made his escape. And then he met this nice Lady and her pet werewolves, and shacked up with her for a bit. Well, the werewolves declared him War Chief and he led a raid against a poorly organized Dalish camp where he was bitten by a rabid halla. Seeking the cure for this disease, he made his way to Haven and up the mountain, following a trail of decaying corpses up to this nice Guardian fellow. Cured by the ashes, he fell through a plot hole in the earth and wound up in the Deep Roads, where he met a curious little man named Ruck. From there, Fergus journeyed to Orzammar with Ruck and Slate, his new golem sidekick. Who turned out to have been a member of the Antivan Crows. At that point, he got word that his brother was a Grey Warden now, so Fergus rushed to defend Denerim from the Blight, and Ruck was killed when a gent in a cloak fell off the back of an Archdemon and landed on him. From there, Fergus just said "F*** THIS!" and went to the remains of the Gnawed Noble for a drink. The end.

The ending seemed kind of bleh to me. Whether you live or die, I would have thought the ending would have a bit more to it, be a bit more emotional. Their entire family except for them is dead, the king was betrayed, omgdarkspawnwtf, little brother/sister has turned into a warden-general of sorts, etc.

If you think about it, look at the world map when you've finished the Brecilian Forest. The gap between the outskirts where you find the Dalish camp and the ruins is huge. It would presumably take days to journey in there.
We barely see any of the Korcarri Wilds other than an hour or so before Ostagar. The Wilds are meant to be that - unexplored and unknown. Morrigan is one of the few people who knows her way through them. Thus she's able to lead you to Flemeth's hut, and later on leads you to the village of Lothering, where Loghain's army has long since passed through.
Fergus gets lost in the wilds and takes months to recuperate. It's a bit weak, and needs more explanation.

It turns out in an entirely coincidental act of murder, Fergus killed his own wife and son before leaving.
Remember how he said his son would see a sword up close "real soon?" Muahaha.
Resenting being sent from Highever, Fergus and his men dressed up in Arl Howe's uniforms to carry out a false flag operation to start a false war against Teyrn Loghaine, the whole civil war is a farce. More will be revealed in the upcoming "Loose Sovereigns"
Poor Howe was framed! what have i done.. forgive me, Howe..

Fergus fell through a plot hole on his scouting mission.
I like my story better. Though I did use the "fell through a plot hole" joke.

That would have been really cool. I definitely think that the Ferelden setting was missing something, probably another human area (town, village, castle, etc). Highever would have been perfect.SeanMurphy2 wrote...

Maybe this can be a belated DLC quest addition down the road...

Except that Howe is the Teyrn of Highever now... well, up to the events leading to his death.
