I wouldn't say excited. But I am no longer dreading that character. While his face will continue to make me wretch, he actually seems like a character I can tolerate, if not like.

Fair point. My reaction was pretty similar prior to having any information; he just seemed kinda dull. But at least now, it feels like they could be playing up some really interesting dynamics with his character.

Nope. A lot of people, myself included, look forward to getting to know Jimmy through a friendly round of fisticuffs.Il Divo wrote...

Anyway, it's cool that they give all the human (and non-human) squadmates their own body model now. It was a pretty cool new thing in ME2--I like that they stuck with it.
Well, except poor Thane. Probably because they were like, "there's only three drell, so why bother?" They also used Standard Turian for Garrus's romance, but again, only one scene, so why bother? Unfortunate, but forgivable laziness.

Damn, I'll have to look out for that. I tend to be so focused on what the characters are saying that I often forget to focus on their details. Still, it's good to hear Bioware going the extra mile in most cases.

Yeah, it was one of the first things I noticed. Mostly because Jacob and Miranda were given "attractive" proportions to an uncanny degree, but also because I do a lot of figure drawing, so I pay really close attention to different body types.Il Divo wrote...

Just because he has muscles doesn't mean he's supposed to bring in Gears of Wars fans. I could use the same logic and state that the Reapers are to draw in War of the Worlds fans.
Or naming a character Ashley Williams was done to draw in fans of Evil Dead.

The worst part is that they made the game good to drawn in fans of good games. What I bunch of self-serving fan-service that is.

There is a difference between a person that is in shape and the bone structure of those seen in Gears.

So why couldn't that be done in me2? We've never seen fat, short, or muscular humans in me1, or 2. Why now? It's such an obvious concept it should have been done long ago. The fact it's done now, and it's in the most enticipated game makes people believe it's to lure in other types of fans.Chris Priestly wrote...
How about "Vega's character design to be a different look from the other members of the party, none of whom have the "large muscular human" look. Not having everyone look alike in ME3 is considered a good thing by most people."?
Not everything has to do with other video games. Sometimes, a character looks teh way he/she/it does because it makes sense to the character and teh story.

Indeed; if you dislike Vega because he is a " overly buff human moron", you have the polar opposite with the thin, extremely intelligent aliens on the squad.Siegdrifa wrote...
Even if it's the case, as long as you can have some other squad mate you like more, it shouldn't be a big problem.

The naive about the under workings of the galaxy personality put me off Vega.

That's like saying why introduce Thane in Mass Effect 2? Clearly he was designed to attract all the Assassin's Creed fans. There are a million different reasons why they may have potentially chosen Vega at this time. The point at which he is being introduced is exactly why he feels like such a compelling character.

Dude, they made a video game, they knew that would draw in people who like video games.

It WAS done in ME2. Jacob had a fairly buff physique. Vega goes a bit farther, of course, but doesn't come close to the outlandishness that is the GoW body model.
The technology of game making has improved tremendously in the last 6-7 years, and in ME1, most characters shared body models. ME2 introduced more unique body models (hence the unique outfits that couldn't be changed), and ME3 is taking that a logical step further.
Seriously, give the Mass Effect developers some credit. Not everything is an attempt to "Attract the CoD/GoW/whateverothergamehere crowd"
