What is the whole beef with "drawing in other games crowds" anyway? Are we some elite club that can't be seen with the likes of other game players or something? is it wrong that different people can like the same thing?

As long as pandering to the other crowd doesn't draw us too far out of what's appropriate for this game.  I don't think a muscular military guy does that, but I'd complain if one of our squadmates was a My Little Pony

It's good to know that gameplay features and the like carry some kind of expiration date, and after that point they stop being "features", and start being "trololol catering to the (insert some group or other here) crowd".

Buttsex in Mass Effect 3 for MaleShep. XD I think I will pass. That good for those though. I'm a Liaramancer. I love Liara. :$

Anyways, he just seem like a regular Human to me. He's not a Krogan, will not replace Krogan. There should been a Krgan not another Human. x.x

Whatever, he appears like an uninteresting character when compared to an Asari justicar, Archangel, Drell Master Assassin, Pure Krogan, Krogan Warlord, Quarian Tech expert, experimental super biotic etc. Never Would I consider wasting space on my ship, with a crew that is supposed to save the galaxy, for some generic marine.

Out of curiosity, what is your opinion on Ashley?

She died on virmire ;) I see your point though. Everyone gets a chance and I don't hate Ashley, specially because she presents female strength. But I never liked human characters that much unless they are really unique (Jack). What I like in Mass Effect is the notion of all species working together in synergy to fight a common threat. I dispise racism and the thought of humans dominating the galaxy. In the big picture humans are diverse but don't excel at anything. I'd rather have a Krogan for my "muscle" than another human. Besides, I have seen so many Marine type characters in games, I simply don't find them nearly as interesting as a member of another species anymore. Just my opinion.

I take offense to that, sir. That would be a WONDERFUL idea.

That's what modding is for. And juding what I've seen on my time here, you're one of maybe 5 people who would take offense to playing as a pony.

A Tali/Flttershy squad would be the most epic thing ever.

Lol are humans not allowed to be muscular or something? I'm betting none of you Vega bashers watch football/other sports or heard of something called "weight-lifting" then, seeing as you immediately give credit to "roids" for Vega's bulkiness

"To pull in Gears fans?"

Really? Vegas only one of three characters in the whole game that doesn't sopy and paste the same unhealthy skinny template everyone else has.

Miranda - clearly designed to appeal to the male crowd by playing off of the "designed perfectly" portion.

Jacob and Vega were the only two who looked like they were actual soldiers because they understood their body is the most vital tool they have as a soldier. Being too thin, too heavy, too weak or too slow would be a detriment to their whole team.

Oh, please. Vega's nowhere near large enough to even begin to qualify for "catering to the Gears crowd".

Isn't he meant to represent the new player?

Anyway, i will give him a go. I have given every character a go, then I judge whether I like them or not. Oddly, I am quite excited about using him. Nice to have a solider on the team (sorry Jacob P.S Not really).

And it is nice to see a new body shape. All the other male humans look like they came from the same factory! Kaiden needs to hit the gym!

Oh and there are some beefy things in the ME Universe, they are called Krogans. The bouncers of the ME nightclub.

The only reason I think Miranda is "attractive" is because I think Yvonne Strahovski is attractive.

There's a faaaaaaaaaaaar distance between A. Looking like a football player, B. Looking like a normal soldier, and C. Looking like Vega, with arms and torso so proportionately big (to the rest of his) that it's clear it's a show. I know people who are really really strong, and their whole body is strong, it isn't just massive arms and chest.

Meh, she isn't my type in either version, but Yvonne is pretty.  However, it is pretty hard to ignore her size D breasts and 36" hips. It feels like they're catering, but it fits into her story about being designed with the purpose of being perfect, so I let it slide.

It seems being "sexed up" is happening to more and more female characters. Sadly, I see it being the marketing team saying it will sell more copies rather than a design choice. Us bloody nerds are far too easily pleased.

Not me, I prefered the angry one with small breasts and the tattoos.

But yeah, its a common trend, which is a shame, since I'd happily play games with more characters like Femshep that aren't sexed up and dressed perfectly for either the hero or villain role.

Body composition isn't the same for everyone. I'm mostly  torso but my legs are still stronger and more defined. I have to put a lot of work into my upper body in order to try and even myself out, but my upper body just doesn't catch up as quickly. That's not to say my upper body is weak, far from it, but my body doesn't respond the same as someone else's might. The same is true for everyone, and Vega just grows easier in that department.

There's nothing wrong with being "sexed up", so long as it isn't overdone, and she has real defining character traits -- Which Miranda has.

Idk if it's just me then, but Vega is nowhere near the ridiculous proportions of GoW characters.  And I in fact know a number of Marines in my area who have a very similar body identity to James Vega...  that kinda thing comes with weight lifting (which isn't as uncommon as it may seem for soldiers/marines)

Like I said, its part of her character background, but I still think the D-cups were a bit overdone.

Getting tired of these topics. It's like everyone in the mass effect universe has to be a noodle arm choir boy just so fans think bioware is staying true to their game or something. If Vega was in Gears of War, he'd be the skinniest one. I don't see anything wrong with having more variety in the human characters, and if you hate the character for whatever irrational reason, then don't use them.

He has that body design because he has a phobia of rabbits so when sees one he can use his body mass to squash them when he jumps on them.
