This is deteriorating into a Dragon Age 2 style "buy this and get this item" which was massively overdone.

You're got to be ****ing kidding me...
This sentence makes me think that it's MP content though:
"This will include the collector's rifle, among other cool content to beat out your opponents."

Yeah, as someone else already stated, I also preordered the art book from the bioware store. Do I get this DLC too or is that a barnes and noble exclusive thing?

Oh, so it IS for the MP. Well then, as long as I'll be able to unlock the weapons in the SP, I'm happy.

This is making me rethink my decision to pre-order from the Bioware Store for that slipcase

I'm getting the artbook anyways cuz I want the art of Mass Effect, if i get another thing with it, its purely bonus. But that stuff should be in the game. This preorder nonsense is getting out of hand.

Yeah, aren't the ones who pre-ordered the Collector's Edition of ME3 already getting an art book?

I can tell you its not the same one that comes with the game,  this one is a proper sized book that's supposed to have art from previous games as well as 3.  So yeah, im looking forward to it.

It's happening all over the industry. Gears of War 3 had Day 1 DLC worth of $75 lol. More than the vanilla game

I really want to know if this weapon will be available in SP, without this piece of DLC.

I've got the ME2 collector's edition and the ME3 collector's edition, both with art books.  I better not have to buy this art book (which I won't) to get the Collector's rifle in ME3.  That would be just plain low.  My Shepard has had it since ME2 and he/she should carry it over with them into ME3.  I've pre-ordered everything ME related up until this (and those action figures).  Minus the Origins bonus, I've gotten just about every promotion too.  Now they are making it impossible to get the whole game.  And yes, I have a compulsive urge to get "every" bit of content for a game.  I wish I didn't, but I do because I want to have the whole experience.  If these promotions are exclusive to this order and not released later, then that is a middle finger to the hardcore fans.

In before Stanley Woo or Chris Priestley say "It's optional.  If you don't want it, don't get it."

This particular offer seems to be exclusive to Barns and Noble.   You'd have to check with Amazon to see if they are offering anything.   I did check out the link. B&N isn't very forth coming about what other content comes with the art book.

But I would recommend that you NOT bother with it at all, there's nothing special about the Collector rifle.  And the idea that these guys are going to peddle content codes from the previous game is laughable.

The art book in the game's N7 version is smaller and only 70 pages and most likely only covers ME3 art. The proper art book is larger, 184 pages (208 for the CE version available in the BioWare Store) and covers all three games (plus the comics for the CE version).

I don't hate DLC or exclusives but, I hate the fact that now DLC is coming with every type of Mass Effect Product. All I want out of this is the confirmation this won't stay exclusive for ever. I'm a big ME fan but not a fanatic.

Thanks for confirmation on the content of this book vs. the content of the CE art book.

The Collector Rifle is kind of ugly, and doesn't fit the aesthetic of any other gear my Shepard wears.
Nothing of value is lost by not obtaining it, in my opinion.

Meh, I was getting the book anyway. I just hope B&N takes my credit card.

Also, I asked via twitter, and this offer is supposed to be exclusive to B&N according to Dark Horse. The response they gave me was erased later though. So maybe a similar promotion with other retailers is still possible.

What is? Is it that it seems all exclusive DLC is coming with every Mass Effect product?

This is probably DLC weapon for MP, guys.

They explicitly said if you pre-order Art of ME Universe you'll gain MP DLC's.

I'll be disappointed if my CE rifle from ME2 can't be imported.

Yeah they're unlocks for the MP portion of the game. I just hope we'll be able to obtain these weapons in the SP, WITHOUT this DLC.
