Wasn't the Collector assault rifle just a glorified Avenger with pretty art?

If that's the case, then why bother?

You know, I was in the process of getting the book, but come on, enough with the DLC already.

Also, I'm debating which figure I should get. Mordin, Legion, or Garrus? Thinking Legion--Garrus looks funny. Oh, but do I want to spend another $20 for Mordin?

Damn it damn it damn it. Want? Want. Buy? Money! Arrrgh.

Ok so before I really didn't care, but this is starting to get ridiculous.

What is? Is it that it seems all exclusive DLC is coming with every Mass Effect product?

I mean it seems every little thing is getting a DLC incentive now, and its getting pathetic.

IIRC, the 3 of them (Plus Miranda) come in a 4-pack for $65.

I don't think that set's been released yet though.

This is probably DLC weapon for MP, guys.

They explicitly said if you pre-order Art of ME Universe you'll gain MP DLC's.

Yeah they're unlocks for the MP portion of the game. I just hope we'll be able to obtain these weapons in the SP, WITHOUT this DLC.

Or more importantly having to buy all these nick knacks. Which brings up another question shouldn't I get something uber awesome if I bought the CE version of the Art book from Bioware store?

Even for MP they'd better heavily re-balance the CAR from its ME2 incarnation.

It hasn't.  I guess I'll buy later.

Possibly from a cheaper seller.

Its base damage was at least 2 times of that. And had a smaller magazine. But other than that its recoil never changed. Which made it awesome.

Yeah, the lack of recoil was pretty amazing for the gun. It helped for those of us who played clases who couldn't get a Revenant.

The Avenger is 10.8 DPS, CAR is 17.4. Not a massive increase, but certainly noticeable.

And it's accuracy wasn't affected by movement.

At least, according to the wiki site. I don't have the CAR :pinched:

If it's in the SP then having a DLC just to unlock it in MP would look even more ludicrous.

If you really want to get the CE rifle for ME2. Do what I've told everyone that wanted it on these forums. Email, call whatever EA support. Believe me it has worked. You may be able to get some codes for Terminus and weapon too if you ask.

Putting the DLC aside for a second, I'm curious about the book. What differentiates this art book from the art book included in the Collector's Edition?

Collector's edition art books are cheap junk IMO. It has a minimal amount of content, is shaped to the same size as the game case so they can save on shipping and it is not adequate for display, and it is often smaller and shorter prints. It is basically a teaser for what a real art book is like.

Anyone who has the ME1 standalone hardcover art book knows what a real and full art book is like. CE art books are near-useless to me. They just make me wish I could buy a full-size one.

The Art of The Mass Effect Universe is a full harcover art book that will hopefully contain far more than the dinky CE art books. Skyrim CE did a CE art book right instead of the cheap, save-on-shipping, low-on-content option that many CEs do.

Maybe this rant comes from me liking ME art too much.

CE rifle? I'm not familar with that one.

I don't care about the Collector rifle but I want everything else.  Enough with the pre-order weapons DLC!

Who even likes the Collector Rifle?

Exactly. It was a... how would I say... a useless bonus weapon that I never use anymore.

Seriously. I thought the Collector Rifle would pack a punch but it didn't. The Mattock, on the other hand, oh baby hnnnnng *rubs oil over his body and grinds against weapon* it was a sexy beast.

So... I'm not missing out. Thnx.

I guess you want that 650$ replica then.

I wouldn't underestimate the value people place in having cosmetically unique computer game equipment. Team Fortress 2 hats, anyone?

That said, I had the book ordered already, so hrmmm.

I kind of disagree.  I think it's kind of cool that people who are big enough fans of the series to be interested in figurines or books are getting a little bit extra for free.  And yes, these little extras - be from buying a game from a certain store or buying a store - are free.  I think the pathetic thing are the people who are complaining that they need to spend $250 to get "everything".

Maybe I'm in a minority, but I didn't use much of the nonstory DLC for ME2.  Gear and weapons are either useless or overpowered (and definitely not required), appearance packs are catered to taste, and certainly not necessary.

All these "incentives" for buying figurines or books aren't game breakers (hell, they're all MP stuff anyway).  If you're interested in them, great.. you'll be buying some cool swag.  If you're not, why do you care?  It's completely irrelevant.
