While it was nice to see FemShep finally getting her own trailer (after three games and no marketing beforehand other than that stupid beautycontest) I wasn’t really surprised that her face looked artificial and like any other female hot protagonists face ever. There were no distinctive features, no character. Just this very attractive blank (and frankly weirdly plastic looking) face of a woman Bioware wants us to believe is an expierenced soldier, leader. I wasn’t even disappointed. I was expecting it.
Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong about a woman being attractive, but I think it is alarming that apparantly a woman is only considered attractive if she meets our current impossible beautystandards. Flawlessness, smoothness, youth. The woman psdo created here is beautiful, she is attractive, but she is tough. She has seen her share of conflicts, she can take a few blows, she can headbutt a krogan. She’s a soldier.
With the face Bioware created I’ve got the feeling something is off. Something is out of place. Like when a young attractive actress is casted for a role she just can’t fill yet. Like you always get the feeling she’s trying really hard to make this character believable, but simply fails because you just can’t believe her when her face seems to repel dirt, her hair is always flawless and even after having wet hair two minutes later she got a perfect hairstyle again. You know what I mean?
I’m not trying to say women who are attractive and young are incapable of getting things done, of being tough. On the contrary. I’m saying it is wrong to make them appear perfect no matter what they are going through. And in a game, where the facemodel will most likely not change, you want to have a believable and strong character design from the get go. Design your characters so they can fit their role in the game and be believable and relatable. They can be attractive AND fit the role, psdo is showing everybody how’s it done with style. Bioware, take notes.

Hm, I was going through my old screenshots and wondered something. So a question to those, who already played around with character customization in the demo:
Are there any more options for scars, like in ME1 or is it the same as ME2?

Watched the trailer a couple of times and really enjoyed it. Nice to finally see Jane in all her glory, and kicking arse. I now can't wait to get hold of the demo on Tuesday and see what my own Shepard looks like in the new engine.
@Tup: You don't like the PS3, we get it, but could you go bang your drum else where? You're hatred of games consoles isn't exactly femshep related.
It's okay, Tup. Post a pic of Tiia and we'll call it even. *pat pat

Somehow I agree with this opinion. Ofc I don't deny new default femShep appearance, but still find her strong makeup and a bit too big eyes disturbing (or maybe she only looks like that in the trailer).

We do, facial complexion 3 has freckles. They are not as bold as defaults but they are there. Depending on skin tone and lighting is how well you see them.

Will THIS hairstyle stay the same in ME3? I love this hair it is on my current shepart and I don't want it to change at all (except maybe more polygons).

I'm not sure any more if the new hair looks better or not. Mixed feelings. The fact that they seem to use transparent textures with alpha blending might actually reduce the quality. 8xMSAA gave pretty superior sub-pixel quality for the fine hair in ME2 (around the ear for example) but now it's blurry.StElmo wrote...

This was the only good hairstyle back in ME1 days, so many people will be dissapointed if they have to change it.
I will be very annoyed if I can't even change it. Bioware is silly, why change something the player is so used to being. It's like asking Mark Meer to put on an accent, its just silly.
