Thanks guys I like both, but Emma feels more "me" than Sarah But fun to cange a bit and see how it feels ingame!
What annoys me is going from this:

Been testing around with every possible combination and playstyle in the demo to pass the time until March and suddenly March is not that far away. It's exciting!

We have yet another new crew member. Liara is an expert on the Protheans and the daughter of Saren’s stooge Matriarch Benezia. She’s an academic sort, very brilliant and a bit socially awkward (she has already said a couple of fairly stupid things to me and then promptly died of shame and crawled into a hole. I’ve gotta be honest, it is fun to look at her stone faced while she squirms. Yeah, mean I know). Ashley, who was with me when we “acquired” Liara (more on that later), showed almost instant dislike for her. When we got back to the Normandy, her behavior was just short of openly hostile in my opinion. I found it kind of annoying because the Asari is harmless, almost mousey, so it really feels like bullying (Me complaining about someone being mean? I know right?).
Speaking of Miss Iron Britches, we had what started out to be a real good talk last night, but then got strange (I’m starting to think I’m the ship therapist. I don’t talk to my own Mother for f**k sake. Speaking of that I should call her…..oh gawd more lecturing from the great Hannah Shepard…..ahem…..but I digress). She told me a bit about her father and her family. They sound like a real tight knit group. She mentioned her dad having sh** details his entire career (I wonder what gives there). She also talked about her faith in god, which she seemed kind of nervous about. I cut that short by assuring her that it’s none of my business (and I don’t really care). Then things got weird as she starts spouting sonnets at me. I mean…..WTF????? Seriously, I would not lie dear Journal, this hard a** marine started reciting Tennyson to me out of nowhere. I must be a bigger badass than I thought because I got through the whole thing with a straight face. Nothing else of note other than her mentioning that Kaiden was “sweet on someone”. Oh gawd.
Speaking of Kaiden……..well at least he didn’t spout poetry (thank you god). But he did give me this weird, kind of rambling uncomfortable speech about “cutting corners”. He went on about this (apparent a-hole) Turian instructor he had on Jump Zero and how he pushed the kids too hard and killed some. I’m like what so I’m cutting corners? Yeah that’s right the monster of Torfan is going to cut corners and get people killed. I swear I can’t swing a dead cat without hitting someone who is reminding me how awful I am. I mean……..sh*t biscuits.
Anyway, he said something about wanting to help and not wanting someone he cares about to go down that road. Again…..WHAT??? I asked him what made him think we were anything more than officers. He said he thought he was getting “signals”. I told him this isn’t the time to talk about it (Why did I say that? Why didn’t I just tell him he’s out of his mind?).
My head hurts.
So we’re now at The Citadel. The Normandy is getting some maintenance and I have some things to do here. I gave the crew 24 hrs shore leave and showed Liara and Tali around (two girls that definitely need to get out). However we got practically ambushed from the time the three of us set foot outside the ship……repeatedly. First a ticked off Alliance Admiral (his name escapes me, something Slavic) is standing right there waiting for us. He pretty much reams me up one side and down the other about the Normandy and a bunch of other sh** that I have no personal control over. Basically his a** is red because the Council commandeered the ship, the crew and me and he had to ****** in a circle to mark his territory by making us stand there while he performs an “inspection”. I f**king told you I’d be in the middle of an Alliance v Council pissing contest.
Then I get cornered by a reporter the second I step off the elevator. I put on my typical expressionless mask and stayed very professional but I’m still pretty sure the passive aggressive b*tch made me look like an idiot. Maybe I should have pistol whipped her, professionalism be damned. Well a girl can dream……
After that bit of fun, things calmed down and we did some shopping. Just three girls having fun on the Citadel. Wearing armor. And carrying weapons. Just as I was starting to relax this fan boy that seems to find me every time I’m on the Citadel starts getting all up in my space. Don’t get me wrong, he means no harm but it’s just kind of creepy the way he fawns all over me. Then he asks me to f**king pose for a picture with my gun out. What? You think that’s nuts? Try this on for size….I did it! I’m standing there, in the middle of the Citadel Marketplace with my gun out feeling like a class A jackass thinking to myself “What the hell am I doing?” Liara is too socially retarded to realize that this was an awkward scene but I’m fairly convinced that Tali was laughing behind that mask. That kid is lucky I already adore her (for whatever reason).
On the upside, we visited the Quartermaster at C-Sec and I bought a bad ass Spectre issue hand gun. This weapon is SWEET. I am going to f**k some sh** up with this bad boy. I gave my old one to Liara but she just looked confused.
We’re back on the ship now but still docked. We’re staying overnight as I still have a couple of serious orders of business to deal with in the morning. I have to visit with an Asari diplomatic emissary who is asking for my help. We also have the somber task of going to see Admiral Kahoku. The Admiral had asked me to look for his missing recon team. We found them on Edolus, while on our way to check out a Council lead in the Knossos System, apparently lured to a Thresher Maw nest by a fake distress signal. After putting down the Maw (thank you again piece of sh** Mako), we found that his entire team had perished.
After that grim bit of business, we made our way to Knossos looking for anything Prothean to try to figure out where to find Benezia’s daughter as advised by the Council. Therum, which had a very significant Prothean Ruin, was also swarming with Geth. Bingo. So, Ash, Wrex and I fought our way through waves of Geth to get to Liara. She had trapped her self accidently when she activated a security system to ward off the Geth that were trying to get to her. We used a mining laser to blast our way in but that destabilized the ruin. Lovely. Then this Krogan, escorted by more Geth, wants to have a fight over Liara with the ruins crashing down around us (I’m so glad I brought Wrex for this mission). Needless to say, we barely made it out of there with our lives (None of this stopped the Turian Councilman from giving me stating for wrecking the ruin. No really I’m okay councilman, none of us were hurt. Your concern is touching. Yeah, thanks for nothing f**kstick).
Liara has nothing to do with her mother or Saren (obvious by how hostile the Geth were toward her) and wants to do everything she can to help us. Having a Prothean expert can’t hurt and having her as part of our team could be useful in putting her mom on her heels. That nanosecond of hesitation could be invaluable against someone as formidable as an Asari Matriarch.
Liara was quite shook up when we bombarded her with all we had learned about The Reapers and the end of The Protheans. This woman has studied this most of her life so it was like dropping a bomb on her (Of course, Ashley was a b*tch about it). However, Liara kept herself together enough to do her “Embrace Eternity” thing (it wasn’t nearly as bad as it was with Shiala at Zhu’s Hope) to help me get a better handle on the Cypher. This pretty much blew her mind so I sent her to Dr Chakwas.
Guess that’s about it. I’d better turn in. I’m not looking forward to my chat with Admiral Kahoku tomorrow. I’ll probably bring Kaiden and Ash. We still have a lead on Noveria to check out and recent news of a distress signal on Virmire.

Yeah I think you're on to something. Girlfriend is a mess isn't she? (probably like most Femsheps). I also think that her cold, emotionless exterior (completely different than the Rhynne we get to "see" when she puts down her feelings in her journal) may have some roots in her relationship with her military parents. I don't think it's a dysfunctional family, but probably not a lot of nurturing. Rhynne probably didn't get enough hugs.

It's not an actual in-game shot - Jho is one of the excellent fan artists who regularly post in the Kaidan thread and she put this piece together in PhotoShop. She's got loads more good Kaidan stuff here as well!
