Wow, it's rather subtle. I'm note sure I would not have noticed, if you didn't say anything.

I can't really tell the difference, then again I only have a tiny netbook screen to look at it from. I'm good so long as it's not the heinous hip-slamming spine-breaking run/walk animations LadyHawke has.

I find it rather glaring.  Maybe it's because I just got finished with a Mass Effect 1 run, but there's no way that walk is anywhere close.  It's kind of like a cross between ME1 femShep and LadyHawke, and she tucks her elbows in a bit, like a model on a catwalk.

Blegh.

One of the cool things about that article, though, is that it implies rather strongly that taking back Earth occurs only partway through the game, not as the finale.  This is a GOOD THING.  I'm tired of science fiction where Earth and humanity are treated like the center of the galaxy, and Mass Effect is a unique universe in that it's avoided this pitfall so far.  Earth is a slummy backwater and humanity is still looked down on as an impatient race of bullies despite its Council membership.  It's a refreshing perspective, and making Earth the ultimate focus of the game would have betrayed this creative decision.

Glad she gets a standard uniform back to wear, I always liked the look of FemShep in the Cerberus uniform in ME2.

Yeah, I don't find it subtle either. I was sincerely hoping that the walking/running animation wouldn't be one of the gender-specific changes that the devs talked about. It's one of those things that made femshep stand out (even though it was the product of Bioware being lazy); it was part of her character. I just can't picture my femshep walk/run with her elbows tucked in like that.

I agree with you on the walk animation. It was jarring the first time I saw it. While better than ME2's animations, it will still take getting used to. However, my criticism of the walk animation was surpressed by the fact that Shepard now wears formal Alliance clothes. Awesome!:o

This is great to hear! I didn't want ME3 to be too human centric. It made sense in ME2 because humans were a target of the reapers, and you were working with Cerberus. However, there's no reason for that in the third game, where the whole galaxy is in peril, and we're just going to focus on one species.

Walking animation is the same as ME1's walking animation now, more or less.

I am too distracted by the glorious admiral-esque outfit.

But it's pretty hard to judge based on such a small clip, and one where Shepard is moving up an incline.

While it's great that ME3 won't be so Eath-centric, I really really want more of the first game music back in the finale. I find myself imagining the synth-tunes when reading through these articles and just hearing them would bring back good memories.

I was never bothered by Shepard's walk or run in ME2 and I can't say I notice any difference in the video. Some of you guys have sharp eyes.

No, it's not.  I just played through ME1, and it's really not.  In ME1, while walking, femShep holds her elbows straight so her arms swing comfortably past the outsides of her hips.  When she jogged, she brought her hands up just above the level of her hips and put most of the upper body movement into her shoulders.  You know, the way most of us move normally.  It was a very natural-looking motion.

In ME3, her elbows are tucked in close to her sides, which means the wrists are forced to sweep outward as she walks to avoid whacking herself in the hips.  Walking or jogging like this for any length of time is uncomfortable because it isn't natural, which is why you only see it during the exaggerated strutting employed by models. Or by women whose objective is to be noticed.

I'm disappointed.  Shepard is a soldier.  Shepard doesn't mince.  Still, at least it's better than the gorilla limp.

Not enough of it for me to fully judge, but I like it better than the ME2 gorilla limp.  And damn, that Alliance suit looks good on her. :)

Aw, actually, I don't think it's that bad. If it's not ME1, it reminds me of Lady Hawke's walking animation. Which I rather liked.

But you're right: anything is better than the lousy gorilla walk.

I'd say it looks like a toned down version of the Lady Hawke walk/run. The arm movements look similar but they got rid of that really exagerated hip-swaying from the look of it. Definite improvement over ME2.

It is really hard to judge how femshep walk in those few seconds, I could only tell her arm swing a little but nothing like Lady Hawke.

Lets wait less than 2 weeks to find out how they put all the stuffs we talked in here together. :D

Oh god. I need to see more but i can't ever see my Shep walk like that. The animation is better than in ME2 and that's good. That it's not as exaggerated as Lady Hawke's is thumbs up but right now i'm not that amused by the animation. Still as i said need to see more than 3 meters of walking to really get a picture of it and form an opinion

Movement looked a bit like ice skating (maybe because legs weren't visible) but other than that it looks kinda similar to ME1.

It's hard to say because it's too short , but I think that animation is better than limping from ME2.

Well its better then ME2.   Mind you anything is better then that animation in my eyes!

Although the animation direction doesnt look exactly like what I would call a positive step forward.  Looks a bit exaggerated, then again im quite fussy with these things.   But it is quite short clip so we shall see in game, may take some getting used to.  Its quite a difference

Still appreciative they gone to the effort to sort it out!
