Yeah, we're a little past it, but I'm still going to say that I hate that dress. The lines are too blocky, instead of accentuating the female form; there is no way there would be any support in it - the bust line is just sagging. Leather is absolutely the wrong sort of material for that design, and the design is definitely not formal wear. It's way too short - if it was going to look even halfway decent it should have been floor-length, and even then the lines would have killed it, and that pattern is just, ugh.

Kasumi's dress however was excellent: Nice straight lines, symmetrical, hugged the body in all the right places while offering a great deal of support for the bust without distorting it. The high neckline and collar gave the illusion of a long neck and the necklace was perfectly placed to stop it from looking unnatural. The only problem I had with it was that dear Shepard obviously hadn't taken any etiquette classes, and had no idea how to sit in it.

This dress is just, bleh. Like many of you said before me, it is a better design for workout wear, not a formal gown. So... you can definitely tell a bloke designed it.

So, yeah, can we get Kasumi's dress modded back in?

Edit: Oh, bugger, TOP. Let me see...

LOVE this expression. It would suit Margurite perfectly.

The Kasumi dress is awesome just from an "I'd actually wear that" perspective. The collar really makes it unique, and I love the seams in the front. Its just slick. Hopefully it'll be back as a bonus for people who have the DLC.

Maybe?

Defender is thick as hell. Kestrel looked a bit too large on my Shep, I can only imagine how that defender is going to look.

Defender, IMO, is about perfect for a vanguard.  Really says, human cannonball.  I'm putting it on Vera.

That I agree. That amount of metal combined to vanguards charge will definitely cause damage.

Considering some of the images, I've seen of him...it looks like Vega( and Kaidan) get a variation of the defender armor...personally my vanguards will be rocking the reckoner armor( along with the chakram launcher AR)...until I unlock the new armor pieces in ME 3....

I guess my thing is now, is that people without the collectors edition won't get the hoodie outfit for their femShep. Unless they are offering it as an extra DLC they have to pay for. Even then it's kind of off putting. I guess they still get the miners outfit, but nothing that is like, I'm going to go play basketball with my friends or just be lazy and flop around the house watching tv all day or you know, eat. I'd be worried about having room to eat that thing looks so tight.

I can see certain Shepards of mine wearing that dress, but the level of off duty casual(as Xbox live describes) of it in comparison to the male Shepard half is kind of wonky. That dress just doesn't look comfortable to wear on an off duty day. Maybe to a party or a date or something, which honestly the male version could be considered for that.

I certainly don't consider it a **** dress though. Yeah it's so tight you can see her belly button but it's more covered up than the Kelly stripper outfit people like to mod to their Shepards.

I would really like a pair of jeans for Rylie though. I envy the jeans more than the jacket I think.

To get that scene you can't ask Ashley about Nilhis(sp?) when you first meet her.

Oh is that it?

I always wondered what the conditions were to trigger that scene (I only got it about 8-10 times out of my ~30 playthroughs).

Yeah, jeans would rock.

I really like how all the outfits look like they have some real folds and bumps in them. Showing actual material and adding so much realism to them. Bioware did a really good job with that.

I must be in the minority here for not liking the hoody.

It's actually one of the reasons I didn't pre-order the CE, as I could conceivably only see Kassia, et al, wearing it during that sparring with James. The rest of the time they will be rocking...

As for the dress or jacket-jeans issue, I'll adopt a wait-and-see approach. I don't like the N7 dress (it just screams tacky imo), but never liked the Kasumi dress either (that--eugh!--G-string necklace was just too off putting). I'm also not very crazy about the leather jacket either, but then as a biker, I'm a little spoiled by my own Triumph jacket...

I love the updated officer's uniform, think it looks fantastic. classy sh@%...hehe, unlike me sometimes.

The reason I'm so stoked about the hoodie though, is because it's the first thing we've gotten for casual wear, that looks like legit civies. IE something a normal person might wear out of uniform, not some bizarro space jumpsuit/dress/overalls. And it's not fatigues.

I will probably be using the officer jacket most of the time. The hoodie everywhere else applicable.

Though I might add...the hoodie looks pretty frickin sweet with techarmor. Very tempting.

This. The plastic party dress bothers me less because it exists (hey, some sheps might love it), but because it's the ALT to the leather jacket. I want a leather jacket more than the dress. Again, it's not the dress itself, its that broShep gets this awesome casual outfit and femshep gets clubbing clothes that look trampy. You've got Steve McQueen on one hand and a streetwalker on the other. The obvious disparity behind the design is what bothers me, not the clothes themselves.

Like Sin said. If dudeshep had a kilt where femshep had a dress, I would not mind so much.

Naj. I don't like that dress that much, it's quite inappropriate for -any- women tbh. Too much leather. Gives away too much and kinda treats Shepard with less respect than she deserves.

Hey, I'm a dude and I -love- women who show some of their skin. Simply should be tasteful, and that's not the case in Shepard's outfit ... unfortunately ...

I like, however, Shepard's underwear.
Still dislike the fact we won't see her fully naked in romance scenes - not even partially. Modding? ^^

BTW: Is Shepard able to wear an Admiral's uniform in ME3? Any ideas?
I'd love to see that ...

See that ^.  I find it trashy-looking.

Yes, she's a good-looking woman. She's also a friggin' Spectre and Commander, on-duty and saving the galaxy for much of the game.

But maybe it's used in some scene I'm missing - like she's infiltrating a Pirate Bar? otherwise i don't see why femshep would be wearing that dress at the same time bro shep is wearing his jacket.

@ akari: yeah, i love that tank. (thanks again ottemis!)

That tank is based on the one they used to have in the bioware store. i own it, actually. I think femshep should have that, jeans, and a leather jacket instead of the dress. would still be sexy, but a bit more tasteful.

also, you could run and fight in it without flashing the world.

Yeah, except military types only wear civvies when on leave. During after hours activities only military approved T-shirts, etc. were allowed (don't get me started about Vega being sent to escort Shepard in his T and saluting without his head covered). At least as was the case when I was in the SA military (it probably differs, and even more so in the Alliance).

So, I suppose the hoody is N7 issue, so can be worn a/h, but then again I found fatigues to be comfortable enough, and as an officer, would expect Shepard to wear those when not on the bridge.

I'm stoked people like the hoody. It's just not for me personally and I would have wasted $0.50 had I bought the CE. Some of the other swag, yeah, perhaps, but still not motivated enough. Same with the stupid Day 1 DLC (I don't feel ripped off, quite the opposite actually, I'm glad I don't have to get "that" character).

Hey, I applaud your reasoning and respect your opinion.

But in a related vein, I don't find the Mass Effect story or universe itself to be very strict on military protocol and procedure, so it's a non-issue for me, except in the loosest sense.  Let's not go into how I wish it were...*gets wistful*
It's been a downward slide from ME1 from Shepard the exemplary soldier, to Shepard the badass superhero.

Alas, just going with the universe Bioware has presented me.

And I'd like to stress, opinions.  Yay.  We all have them =)

...

Edit - Had to add.  N7 issue hoodie...just like the trashbag dress! Lol.  Alliance may have gone overboard in licensing agreements <<

It is required to be covered to salute in most european military corps but not in the US - don't know about Canada. Don't understand why you're not thrilled about the jacket or it is just that particular style.

This. I wish I had a nice military trained body to show off and none of my femshep's care what anyone thinks of how they dress. As long as they get to kill thigns and look good doing it.Posted Image

I looked back at my completed characters and realised I couldn't remember what i'd done with each one :?

So I made a list of what FemShep's I wanted to make (name, general look, para/rene, VS, LI, etc....) and i've started on those.

Currently going through Mass Effect 2 as 'Raine Shepard'. She's mostly Paragon with a few Renegade points, romanced Liara and intends to stay faithful, saved Ashley. Pics are awful sorry, xbox player so had to use the camera on my iPod!

Okay we have sriously got to stop comparing the Military in Mass Effect to the Military right now. They are not the same thing. Sure there are similarities, as all military have some things in common. This is a military set 174 years in the future and it's regulations are prett ymuch ambiguous besides the fraternization reg that's brought up by either VS during their romance path. Unless there's a huge list of Alliance regulations regarding appearance in he Codex then you can wear anything you dan well want to and no ones going to say anything about it anyway. Anderson won't berate Shepard for wearing the N7 dress and tell her to change, no one's telling Ashley to put on Kaidan's outfit because he chooses to wear what everyone else is wearing, and no ones telling Vega to cut his mohawk off and put on an officers jacket to cover up his bulky physique.

/soapbox
