Shepard made the same switch; her reasons seem valid( no much choice-although i wouldn't have joined with TIF if i had a choice) to us because we play her. We don't really know why Jacob did it. Your reasoning concerning Jacob is the same as VS concerning Shepard- which is not necessarily bad-i just don't share it. I do think it's harsh for him to die over that, but that's your choice, i have to respect it.NoxJuked wrote...

Does anyone have a save where you lost more than sa, 1-2 people in ME2? Or if you didn't even recruit everyone? I just don't have the heart to kill anyone off, not even those I don't like. We need everyone in the coming war! I can sacrifice them in ME3 if I have too to save Kaidan/Garrus/Thane depending on which Shep I'm am playing
Didn't recruit Garrus in Mass Effect 1 got him killed as the distraction in Mass Effect 2 and Jacob in the vents for my femshep playthrough.
Jacob seemed really annoying to me so when he volunteered he got what he asked for, also the fact he switches sides so easily made her not like him.(Like how he went from Alliance to Cerberus) As for Garrus my femshep has a bit of hatred towards Turians, Batarians, Salarians, Hanar, and Vorcha not racist, she'll work with them or talk with them etc just most of them ****** of her off. So why risk a friend being the distraction when some Turian who she didn't get or want to know since the first time around can play that role.
If you take out Turians, Salarians, Vorcha, Hanar or Batarians there's not much left in the Universe. You have to admit it's hard not to see her at least as anti aliens. Saying that you dislike all those races but that your shep is not racist is a bit of a contradiction - that's just my opinion and you have yours. But i understand if you don't want Garrus as a friend. i just strongly disagree.

She saved captain kirrahe, helped out Mordin mostly to help out Wrex though, all the vorcha she has come across has had a pissy attitude towards her and tried to kill her or get in her face and the batarians same thing as vorcha. For the Hanar they are just big stupid jelly fish

Well i understand that you wish you could choose who you want as a friend.I share that view; I admit that some of the species we had to deal with could really ****** you off. But we don't know much about them. Like when Thane talks about Hanar on Kahje. We've only been expose to some 'bad apples'- and some good ones. That's why i reserve my judgment...until i know more. Bad guys will stay bad regardless; and they need to be taken out.NoxJuked wrote...
Well Jacob decision is just like the Garrus one imo didn't want to risk a friend doing it after he said it would be suicide. Also I never saw my femshep as switching sides she ran everything and used information that the illusive man gave her, that's about it. As for what I said about the races she hates she doesn't hate them on a racist level just most of the ones she has come across have annoyed her.

"Changed sides so easily?" It wasn't easy. He HATED that the Alliance stopped doing things, he got sidelined after Eden prime and had to watch as the Alliance got a council seat and then did nothing with it. He had to save the council with Cerberus and Miranda before he joined up with them and he was head of security for Lazarus project. He wanted to do something meaningful and the Alliance wasn't providing and he was with Cerberus on a "you do good I stay" basis. That's not something you just do because you fell like it.NoxJuked wrote...

When you first meet him, he specificly asks you to give him a chance to prove himself and to not throw him onto the big bad cerberus pile, because he doesn't belong there (and he's right).
In the end much like Shepard Jacob is handed the means by Cerberus (coincidentally) to do good as he sees fit. His judgement is his guide, not those of the Alliance nor Cerberus. I think he's a good man, so I don't doubt he'll up and leave the second Cerberus tries to involve him in stuff he's not in for, or doesn't support, or restricts him in ways that prevent him to do what he wants to be doing: helping people.
It's not about changing sides. He's just hanging out with the people that empower him to do just that most effectively.
While as a whole Cerberus is considered the bad guy, individual members aren't nessecarily so.
Anyways, matters little in the end, you either like him or you don't, but there's a lot to him.

Ohh and thanks for the comments about my newest femshep...that's actually not red hair she has there...that's the last hair color choice in the demo... I'm gonna alter her slightly later tonight when I get home... though and see how she looks with red hair( most likely the darker version of it)...

I shoul've killed him when I had the chance...My Femshep was romancing Thane at the time...not he's alive in my save game. I still have a chance with my Femshep/Garrus playthrough.

I agree. the desire to make change doesn't justify joining Cerberus. You can't have it both ways: you're either in or out. knowing what cerberus is about you can't pick and choose. Jacob is a good guy - that i personally like - but that's a very naive choice he's made. All those people that joined TIM out of frustration are just empowering Cerberus and tacitly encouraging them to conduct experiment like the one on David or accidentally exposing honest and clueless people.QwibQwib wrote...

I shouldn't of have said that he was annoying, what I meant was that like you said, they know that Cerberus do extreme experiments for the "good of the humanity". I don't think hes bad or that i hate him, i got to know his other side which is pretty sweet but I can't accept that he abandoned the alliance that easily. But each one has it's own preference and i respect that.

I love Mr. Taylor. He should have been recruited arround the same time Ashley was. That would have been perfect. The only credit i'll give to Tim is rebuilding Shepard and acting like he cares about the fate of abducted colonists. I believe if he wasn't so manipulative more colonist would have been saved. But he had to use them as a bait for both Shepard and the Collectors.TIF...and who knows maybe the Alliance could have done something if it wasn't fed with so much bad intel.QwibQwib wrote...

I went down to the cargo hold to see if I could get some mods from our resident quartermaster (who flippin charges me for everything). Nothing good. What’s a girl gotta do to get some illegal weapon mods? Having concluded my (fruitless) time with the quartermaster, I sauntered on over to Garrus for no particular reason, maybe I just felt like talking……..to someone who doesn’t want to sleep with me.
“Hey Garrus”
“Commander I…….what can I do for you?”
“Something the matter Garrus?”
“I’m starting to wonder if we’ll ever get Saren. He’s always one step ahead of us and he’s got those damn Geth”
“Who cares? It could be worse. It could be Krogan. The Geth can’t really fight for sh*t if you ask me”.
Garrus replied: “I wish I had your confidence.” (I thought to myself, if you only knew).
“Can I ask you something Commander?
“Go Ahead.”
“Are you concerned that the Council might be protecting Saren?”
“Nah. I don’t see them as evil. Just hopelessly inept. Clusterf*ck incarnate.”
“I get the feeling they were really dragging their heels. What if we find Saren, bring him back to the Citadel and they refuse to act”
“That’s a non issue”
Garrus gave a look that is probably the equivalent of a human raising their eyebrows “How is that a non issue Commander?”
“Because I plan on bringing Saren back to the Citadel in a f*cking suitcase. Garrus, anyone who thinks that b*stard should be brought in alive is delusional or doing too much Hallex”.
“That’s a relief to hear Commander. I knew I’d like working with a Spectre”
“Well the Spectre likes working with you too. Stick up the butt and all”
“Wait…..what?”
“Bye Garrus”
I walked away a bit pleased with myself (can’t lie) and took the elevator up to the mess. I arrived to find Kaiden sitting down with his back to me. I stopped, took a deep breath, ran my fingers through my pony tail and made my way over to take a seat next to him.
“How is it you always have this place to yourself? You must have everyone’s schedule figured out” Kaiden looked up and smiled as I pulled out the chair next to him. “Something like that. We haven’t really had time to talk lately. Got a minute?”
This is the part where I find myself fascinated with the fine craftsmanship of an Alliance mess hall table.
“Sure Kaiden”. He went on, “I’ve just been thinking about how ridiculous this all is. It seems like every other race in the galaxy is wrapped up in their own problems. They just don’t want to see what’s coming”.
Oh thank the Maker; he just wants to talk about the destruction of the galaxy. I was afraid he wanted to talk about something stressful like…….us.
“Well Kaiden that sounds normal. We humans are pretty good at sticking our heads in the ground too”. Kaiden smiled at me and I….well you know. “True enough, some things carry across species lines. I should remember that after what happened with Vernus”. Giving him a gentle elbow to the ribs “Awwww Kaiden, did he throw his arms around you at graduation and tearfully tell you that you were the best student you ever had?” Waving that off he said “Hardly. Before I went to jump zero, I saw Aliens as, well, Alien. Strange, superior and not like us. But dealing with him showed me how ‘human’ they really are. Jerks and saints just like the rest of us. By the time I got payback, I didn’t want it”.
“Wait…..you finally manned up and kicked him in the pills? That doesn’t sound like you”
“Very funny Shepard. Truth is he hurt Rana”. My glibness quickly evaporated. “Oh…..” He continued “He broke her arm. She reached for a glass of water without pulling it Biotically. She just wanted a drink without getting a nose bleed, you know? Like an idiot I stood up. Didn’t know what I was gonna do, just….something. Vernus lost it, beat the crap out of me…..” I cut in, glibness back in full effect “Now THAT sounds more like you…” Kaiden smiled and gave me a playful push as he continued “….he kept shouting how they should have bombed us back to the Stone Age. That’s when the knife came up. Military issue talon, right in my face. I cut loose, full biotic kick, right in the teeth. Almost as strong as I can manage now, at seventeen that’s something”
“Bet that bruised his ego” I quipped. Kaiden paused before saying quietly “No actually it killed him. Snapped his neck”. Kaiden paused and looked down at the plate he had been neglecting.
“Good. I hope it hurt”.
He paused to give me a look that I couldn’t read before going on “It caused a stir when they shipped him home. Training was shut down and Conatix folded a couple of years later. You know it’s funny, I’m not sure which of us got the worst of it”.
“You’ve got to be f*cking kidding me Kaiden”.
“No, I’m not upset he’s dead. I’m just sorry I killed him. Guess I wasn’t prepared for that. I dropped out of sight for a bit. They let me go. I guess they wanted it to blow over as much as I did. I came back to serve but did so on my terms. Yes I hated that Turian, but he wasn’t a Turian to me, he was just Vernus.”
“And here I thought you were damaged goods. Would you mind explaining that line of thinking to Chief Williams?” I couldn’t suppress a wry grin. “I’ve got some scratches and dents, hopefully they just give me character” he said. I responded with a chuckle, “Man who are YOU tellin’”. After a pause I asked, “What about you and Rana?” Kaiden didn’t say anything for awhile. Then said a little sadly, which burned my ass a bit, “We never spoke after that. She was terrified of me after what happened. I guess she could never separate me from what I did to Vernus.” After another thoughtful pause “Rana was a gentle soul.”
“No, Rana was a b*tch."
He gave me a look, his face darkening a bit. Then without thinking I blurted out “I would have found you irrisistably hot and jumped your bones”. I wanted to snatch the words out of the air and cram them back into my mouth as soon as they were out. I could feel my face and ears absolutely burning with embarrassment which is a GREAT look for a pale redhead by the way. Kaiden, without missing a beat cleared his throat and said “Well ma’am, I’ll have to keep that in mind”.
I scooted my chair a little closer to him so our legs were touching for the rest of our meal. Kaiden was having a sandwich while I had a nice big cup of shut the f*ck up.
