@Kara your Shep looks so sad :s
Ironically enough, that's the thing I was worried was going to be lost in translation and am glad I've been able to recapture. Thank you for noticing that!
I have multiple Shepards', but Kara was the original. You could sum her up as being motivated to "protect and defend the Constitution", as it were: her mission in the war with the Reapers is to preserve the government of the Citadel Council and the Systems Alliance, at whatever cost. She is by no means heartless, merciless or a killer (not Ruthless, but War Hero), and is very mindful of the rules of war, but also takes on the burden of sending people to preserve galactic society as it presently exists.
The cost of these choices haunts Kara. She sided with Tali in her fight with Legion because she was unwilling to let critical data about organics fall to an AI, no matter their assurances. This cost Legion his existence, and she's left to wrestle with the consequences of that strategic decision. She's aware that she's going to have to send more people to die, and she's wondering exactly what parts of the Council are going to have to be cut off, sacrificed, to save it.
You could say that she ended up a bit like Jack Bauer, though that wasn't the intention and I'd offer that she's much less "damaged" than that character. Kara made room for all the loyalty missions for her crewmates out of a
genuine desire to earn their loyalty. She has enormous love for her love interest, Liara, to whom she stayed faithful across the games. But Kara executed the Rachni Queen to prevent the possibility of their ever challenging the Council again. That's the same reason she annihilated the heretic geth. . She chose to let the colony on Watson be destroyed to preserve a vital military asset. She didn't warn the colony on Aratoht not out of malice for batarians, but to ensure the invasion was destroyed. When Liara asked her how she truly was, she responded, "I'm tired."

No but we couldn't Mod ME1, or barely, through the savefile. The percentage of people that hexedit is few and far between. (And DA2 wasen't out yet to break socalled 'community trust' in Bioware)Tup3xi wrote...
I don't know... They didn't have that for ME2 I presume. But we'll see then I guess. I have DDE locked & loaded with flyCam mapped already. Only need to get ridof that release date check (gets VPN readyOttemis wrote...

I kinda see it like saying in their manual to not stick cats in microwaves so you can't get sued for not having included it later. That that's necessary is the sadness I think.).
Also I'm a little bit envious, I don't even know what's going on with my pre-orders yet atm =/

You're right, the game doesn't let you examine the motivations behind your choices; it only accounts for the decisions themselves. But it does make wonder in retrospect whether i'm renegade out of necessity or do i have a predisposition for ruthlessness as a way to resolve conflicts - well at least for my earthborn/ruthless Shepard.Kara Shepard and the Special Destinies wrote...

It's an interesting question. I think you're right that it's the actions that ultimately count; I think that's what bears on Kara's soul. After all, if what mattered were your intentions then the actions themselves lost weight. The actions themselves are what change you, take a toll from you. One could say, "What choice did you have?", but that's the point of Mass Effect - there are always at least two choices, with vastly different meanings.

It's the download (just that one download), but thx for the suggestion. I guess I'm just gonna wait and see if I still have a problem after the exe is unlocked. Not like it's keeping me from doing anything... yet!Ottemis wrote...
Skald: Does the download fail with that error or the install? If the download I'm sure that'll be sorted really.
If it's the install, check if your origin install and origin games install are on the same physical drive, ifnot, that might cause the issue (i've had it with ME1 DLC installations in the past).

it's finely Penny's turn. I am running out of steam, but I'm trying to push through and get her ready for ME3. I did everything for the other 4 femsheps so I don't want to cause her not to get the best ending I can get for her. I think I'll not chat up everyone, like I usually do. I don't think it will make much of a difference as long as you earn their loyalty and it might free up some time to get things done.
