Lovely shots, Verly. The "green" ending had the most poignant imagery but it doesn't sit right with me. What's funny is that I accidentally chose it in my first playthrough.....I saw a beam of light and thought that once I reached it I would then be given my 3 options. The idea of Shepard's body disintergrating and her "essence" being spread throughout the galaxy, without other species' consent, does not sit right with me. And I don't buy all of that "Oh, but she'll live on in their hearts" type of bullsh_t. Until the endings are fixed (right? Right?!) I'm going to plug my ears and hum to myself during the last couple of minutes.
*lovely pics snip*
This. So much this. **SPOILERS**: I got to the 'pick your poison' part at 1:30am. thought...eh, i have time to see 2 endings before 2am and no way in hell am i going blue. i WANTED to go red. tried green just to see since if felt like the 'heroic, good, ought-to' ending. halfway to the beam thought, what the heck am i doing? i don't care what green looks like. i should turn around. but i tried the green ending anyway. i thought it SUCKED. sorry, that was my opinion. i HATED it. totally didn't sit right with me. gave me the queasies. felt like giving in, felt like some sick joke. nice idea, shep dies and all is peace, but it felt like a surrender. i don't think life is that easy - just merge with the problem and all is well? also, starchild says to shep, you organics need us - you cannot imagine life without us - in trying to convince you to go there. my thought was, 'the hell we do'. i reloaded and went out fighting to red, like i wanted to. figured shep would die anyhow. thought, well, that sucks, but it's better. then i got the cutscene with gasp for breath. stunned at how much i like that. still puzzling over what all that was.
sooo..... yeah.
I think i may just be in a major state of denail + bargaining, like I want this ending to make sense and i liked how the game ended, so i'm grasping onto these DLC theories to make sense of it. it MAY be that all three endings simply flavor what is to come: that shep's sacrifice makes the final battle easier if you went green or you live if you went red but many others die.... dunno.
As for the game ending just as i feel like the final battle is really beginning... dunno. Crazy like a fox? BioWare clearly will ****** off a lot of their fans if they string out the ending in DLCs, but then, that IS sort of interesting, releasing a game not all at once like a movie, but in progressive episodes like a mini-series that evolves as you go along.
question with that one will be the money thing. free DLC would probably go over well. if they ask folks to pay for it, they will likely incurr more rage. but then, maybe that's why From Ashes cost money - that the 'free' DLC is yet to come?
dunno. i'm still in denial/bargaining. don't mind me. have a femshep:

Hah, I did the same thing with him, too! I really liked his character a lot by the end of the game. Lots of character and mutual respect working both ways. His shameless flirting really made me laugh because he was constantly toeing the line with that stuff. I could have sworn he was trying not to look at Shepard's chest at one point when he talked about what a distraction EDI (?) was going to be in her new body. I definitely connected with him. On a new playthrough, but he's still not calling my main Shepard Lola. =p It made sense to go renegade on him during the fist fight because he was a bit of a loose canon and was looking to push his limits. It's good for someone to push him back. (This route fit as an ruthless earthborn Shepard, too.)SaturnRing wrote...

. She went renegade on him during the fist fight and kicked his ass...not be mean just to establish a proper chain of command

When Jane is down she just likes to hang in the cargo bay with him an Cortez.

I don't have the link handy and it might have been brought up in this thread, but I'm sure you've heard about the next DLC allegedly being called 'The Truth,' yadda yadda. Truth or not, the outline listed did make sense, that it does matter which choice you make with the space kid because that decision will carry through as Shepard snaps out of it. It might make the Harbringer respond to Shepard differently or something like that. It made enough sense for me to decide that I was going to import my pro-Cerebus gal and choose to control the reapers and see how that plays out after breaking out of the hallucination. This is just spectulation on my part. I'll see if I can dig up the link. (Edit: I can't find it. The image has been removed.)nranola wrote...

There's also still an end-game state in gibbed that is either 'out in a blaze of glory' or 'live to fight another day' Anyone check their endgame saves? Either it's totally incidental, or possibly indicative of what happened to Shep/future DLC.
Prob the 1st though.
/grasping at straws
*takes off tinfoil hat*
Interesting, that "out in a blaze of glory" bit. Part of me wants to take that as a sign of glorious things yet to come, but frankly, I'm tired of hoping - for now, at least. Would be nice if it actually meant something though.
BTW, LOVING all the new screenshots that people are sharing. I was dumb and didn't clean out my screenshot folder as I played the game and the folder got way too big so it kept crashing despite my attempts for three days to move files around and so on. I ended up deleting it. I'm on a new playthrough, big deal. I'll get them back. I've learned my lesson. =D

Oh, I had a question -- for those that had Anderson as the councilor for the council, did the game explain how Uldina was in charge for the third game? I had Uldina for ME2, no spectre status reinstated in ME2, so it did not seem out of the ordinary to me. The turian councilor, after asking me for help in Uldina's office, informed me that the council was reinstating my spectre status and that was it (so I can access the spectre office across the hall afterwards) with a few clicks of his omnitool. No real fanfare or anything.
anderson got sick of politics, udina was waiting in the wings.
... it's a cerberus plot or a fast one in writing. :S
Gibbed question: been trying several times now to set myself up with the Dress blues for the opening squence. Have set the casual outfit on the opening save to be #1(the dress blues), but it keeps reverting back to that black casual outfit. any ideas there? i'm taking the chapter save and then using gibbed to place it over save #1

Thanks
I was playing default with different hair, through some highly impractical modding. And yeah, the lips were throwing me off.

I think the one you're referring to though (?) is not the default, but a new Sheppie I made to run through all 3 games (Vanguard Garrusmance! Maybe by the time I'm done this ending business will be straightened out...)
Zis one. Her name is Eris. Excuse for picbomb!

Yeah, BW had originally stated that passing up the Spectre status would hold consequences, but it didn't. Although the game never comes out and says what happened w/ Anderson, it does acknowledge it in a roundabout way. Shepard can tell Udina that Anderson would be proud of what he’s doing. You can interpret that in any number of ways.
More thoughts on the ending ...
I can see the ending as a Last Temptation of Commander Shepard type deal where she is presented three choices, two of which cast off the Reapers very easily and one where she goes down fighting and struggling as she has all her life. And if she chooses destroy, she overcomes indoctrination.
But I also see the endings in a very Phillip K. Dick fashion, where the endings represent how Shepard sees herself. Shepard is as much synthetic as she is human, so does she herself as totally human, casting off the synthetic inside of her? Pick destroy. Does she see the synthetic inside her only as another tool like any other organ in her body? Pick Control. Does she see herself as both? In the end the final choice that Shepard picks is the choice that defines her. In other words, there is no right or wrong choice.
In either scenario the end doesn’t actually happen. It’s all happening in Shepard’s mind. The mass relays don’t blow up and the Normandy is not stranded. That does leave the question of the Reapers. Are they destroyed or is ME3 a story of personal triumph and the Reapers just a metaphor for the never ending struggle. Is ME3 ultimately a tragedy or will ending DLC be on its way? I suppose there is room enough to believe that all of the above is true or maybe I’m just thinking too hard.

i think this is very interesting. and i'm thinking about this WAY too much along with you, there, jamie.
though with the last temptation of commander shepard, i, yeah, that's what it felt like to me. i kept thinking 'cast yourself into the beam, and the angels will make sure even your feet will not scratch on the way down' and 'take control of the reapers and turn these stones into bread...' er...something. there's been a lot of bibical references throughout. starchild felt VERY temptor like to me.
i still like Chig's answer best. Shoot the star child. er...yeah.

Yes, explained in the third book. In order to help Kahlee Sanders with something, he has to start up a diplomatic...incident. I knew then that they were paving the way to put Udina in charge in ME3 regardless of your choice. It was fine by me though, since Anderson really is better as a soldier than a diplomat.
I've been wondering if our "online passes" for MP and what not might also be used to access free DLC, the way the Cerberus Network was used before. I guess we'll see. I'm a little torn on my canon Shep's ending - I picked green but might have to go with red, it would still be in character for her to do so, and if it gives her and Kaidan a chance to be happy together, then I'm happy to redo the ending for it.

Udina: I know I can move mountains. Do not lose sight of that, because the task before us is moving planets.
[Get some results.] Shepard: That sounds like you won't succeed. I helped you into this office because I thought you'd be effective. (Shepard looks irritated with him.)
Udina: You need a carrot or a stick to drive a mule, and humanity has neither right now. (blah blah blah)
